Bookies Rules!!
by Zulfiqar Dholkawala on Mar 21, 2007 12:45 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

ndia can win quite comfortably in crucial match on 23rd against SL provided right team is selected. I know based on performances only ROBIN UTHAPPA is certainly going to be dropped!!

I have previously commented that INDIA should play with more regular batsman rather than regular bowlers. Bring just 2 regular opening bowlers Zaheer Khan & Sreesanth. Play with 7 regular batsman Ganguly, Sehwag, Dravid, Sachin, Dhoni, Yuvraj, Karthik and bring in Pathan as batting alrounder rather than bowling alrounder (this seems slightly stupid) and pick one spinner (Better Harbhajan).

If INDIA goes for same team which played against BERMUDA I can bet, they are coming back home on weekend surely.

Thanks. BR.

the first time i saw him, i was pretty sure he will play very well only on batting wickets of india. he plays most of the balls on the front foot. most of his dismissals have been from deliveries that he had to get back but dint. he will definitely be back before the first over from vass ends. he cannot play on swinging and seaming wickets. best is to have two experianced openers in sachin and saurav since they have proved on all kinds of wickets. sehwag one down, then yuvraj then as per situation dravid/dhoni. i would like to see pathan in place of uthappa. Agarkar..........i dont know, he has bowled well against srilanka and west indies recently in india. maybe he also needs some confidence like sehwag. he is most likely to dismiss jayasuriya early with his in swing. keeping my fingers cross !!!!!!

Bermuda Triangle!!
by bruahboy on Mar 20, 2007 11:08 PM  Permalink

It is a real Bermuda triangle-- between India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.. whichever team wins against bermuda by the lowest margin sinks in it...

this only if india wins against sl and sl against bangla

Net Runrate of India2.51
by deepak dharade on Mar 20, 2007 09:15 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Can anyone give details of Netrunrate of India.
How is it calculated.
If by formula our runrate - opponent runrate then India's netrunrate should be 5.14( in Ind Ber match) so now by latest Indias net runrate should be around 5. Then how is it 2.51

(5.14-0.139)/2 .... this would answer your query.. Net runrate is (runs secured)/overs - (runs given)/overs ...this will be implied from all the matches.

India will reach in super 8...!
by Ian Chappel on Mar 20, 2007 08:41 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Mates..
India will reach in super 8..
Reasons:
1- SL will beat BD by a big margin so that BD's NRR goes down so much in minus that they shouln't even dreamt of beating Barmuda by any margin, In short last game of group will be just of a statistical importance and nothing else..
2- If SL beat BD by just a smaller margin and India beat SL, SL will be in big trouble if BD manages to beat Bermuda even by 200 runs or 7 wickets...
3- So, SL left with only and only one option which is beat BD by a big margin and dont let the thing go beyound your reach. SL will never want to take risk against furious Indian team..!
4- After that India can beat SL by playing proper cricket without having tension of NRR.

INDIA is in Super 8...Yu..hu
Anyone with different openion...

Were they anytime effective? OK Murali 10 overs 40 runs but vaas? People scored of every ball he bowled. Most overated bowler in history.

Cool.. but all your options will hold ground only if India beats SL.... With Jaya surya, chamara silva on fire.., i am not totally confident about the match..I am just hoping for the best..that INDIA wins... good luck team india !!!!

A Rough Estimate:
According to my calculation, in order to enter Super - 8,

Tmrw SL should not score more then 250 and get BAN all out in 150.
On friday IND put on a score of 300 atleast and get SL wraped up in 225.

These are two MUST conditions.

Assuming all sides atke 50 full overs except BAN get BER all out in 100 and they make those runs within 20 Overs OR they put on 400 and get BAN all out in 100.

Cheers for India
by manoj kartik on Mar 20, 2007 07:18 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

These statistics look pretty good on the papers. We also know that our players have good records on papers but still we are not the best team in the world cricket.Do not forget that this win was againt debutant team Burmuda which has lost there match in a similar way against Srilanka as well.

This win would have boosted up the confidence level of the Indian team but they need to show similar commitment in the feild even in the match against Srilanka. They are strong opponents as well after Vaas and Muralidharan back into their side.

We have seen India in these kinds of situations earlier as well and they come back very strongly. It was very similar in 1999 Worldcup where India had some great wins to enter supex 6 after loosing to Kenya. Even in many some tri nation series we had do or die situations

Everything depends on how the team takes up the challenge in their next game.It is the crucial game for us to stay alive in this worldcup. They should be cool and play to their potential without getting panic at any moment.

If they can play like how they played again Burmuda in all the matches they we can be a tough opposition as well. Only thing is they have to maintain the momentum through out.

I hope India continues this performance through out the series. We fans are behind you to cheer u up and pray for u. Do not worry about the results. Just play to your potential and as a team. Success will be all yours

Good Luck guys.

cheers,
Manoj

what paper are you talking about? On paper they did not put names like Manoj Kartik. They put good names that performed sometime ago. So accept the fact that India has played well against bermuda. Other teams did not score that 400. we did.

Also get this str8, know your cricket before talking. India did not lose to Kenya, they lost to Zimbabwe thanks to some great umpiring by Peter Willey and some outstanding cricket by Azhar and Co in the absence of Sachin.
