Bob Woolmer - a fine legacy marred by a troubled last inning
by saranggaikwad on Mar 19, 2007 09:03 AM  Permalink

Woolmer was a controversial man having been attacked by numerous ex-cricketers as well as commentators, not to say the Pakistani cricket fans for his coaching methods. Lately Imran Khan had trained his guns on him accusing him of playing too defensively and of bringing the English county cricket mentality into Pakistani cricket, thus robbing the Pakistani team of their natural aggression.Sunil Gavaskar, another cricketing legend was never impressed by Woolmers excessive use of his laptop in coaching and mocked him many a times on T.V. Woolmer had a software which had the capability to analyse every ball that had been balled in cricketing history and he used computing capabilities to its fullest in devising is game plans.

It is very sad that Coach of Pakistan had to die in mysterious circumstances. He was good coach and has done wonder in his job as Coach. But coaching Pakistan is very difficult job. He must be under immense pressure. May his soul rest in peace. Amen.

Bob Woolmer's untimely death!!!
by Sharath Mohan on Mar 19, 2007 08:56 AM  Permalink

Its indeed a shocking news and a very bad day for International cricket. Bob was a thorough professional and a gentleman to the core, who faced a lot of hardships in leading Pakistan cricket thru troubled waters. What ever be the reason for his death, its sure that he was greatly affected by Pakistan's loss to Ireland as was evident from the post-match conference. He was greatly responsible in bringing up SA team after their re-entry into Intl cricket. I really hope and pray that his soul rests in peace. May God give the strength to his family members to overcome this tough period. We will surely remember you forever Bob and will miss u a lot !!!

his coaching style is superior and technologicall..
its our asian boys who never ready to take anything new..different..be adamant..and survive for money through advertisement rather than the money coming through match wins....
