Really sad
by partha reddy on Mar 19, 2007 09:12 AM  Permalink

It is really sad to hear that lot of lives are dependant on the game of cricket. It should not be the way the game should be enjoyed. Please take winning and losing as a part of game. Its the public that made the game hugely popular in terms of money and popularity and when the team loses it is not fair to attack players indirectly or directly and also put stress on the coaches. Finally the selection process should be fair. Nobody should be obligated to take players in to the national teams based on 'remote' performances or huge popularity off the cricket ground perforamnce. But is this going to be a reality!

At what price - Cricket ?
by Partha Sarathy on Mar 19, 2007 09:10 AM  Permalink

Cricket of late, has been becoming very stressful. Boris Becker once having lost a match said - Its just a game, no one has died. But the situation is much different now. Now that the sport has lost one of its most intelligent ambassador, its time to rethink on the Schedules and the number of matches that are being played. Playing day in and day out has its own cost and it definitely cannot be one's life. Sport is after all, about entertainment, and we are taking it much more than that. Heartfelt condolences to Woolmer's family.

Rest in peace Bob!
by beautifulmind on Mar 19, 2007 09:06 AM  Permalink

It's a sad day in cricket history. I do not have any personal attachment with Bob, but for the entire day I felt very bad about his death. This thing was really needless. Cricket is just a sport guys, it's not bigger than life. One very good person died for some stupid loss in a cricket match. If really someone had to die for this loss then it's not Bob! All paki players who played that match on the ground are responsible for that loss. Now any person (foreigner) will think 10 times before taking up a coaching job with Pakis. Pakis have so many problems internally. The main problem in pak team is unity otherwise it's one of the best teams in the world. Shoaib at one side, Inzy on other, Afridi somewhere else...total chaos...

Felt very bad for Bob! This shouldn't have happened. Rest in peace Bob!

Bob Woolmer - a fine legacy marred by a troubled last inning
by saranggaikwad on Mar 19, 2007 09:06 AM  Permalink

Woolmer was a controversial man having been attacked by numerous ex-cricketers as well as commentators, not to say the Pakistani cricket fans for his coaching methods. Lately Imran Khan had trained his guns on him accusing him of playing too defensively and of bringing the English county cricket mentality into Pakistani cricket, thus robbing the Pakistani team of their natural aggression.Sunil Gavaskar, another cricketing legend was never impressed by Woolmers excessive use of his laptop in coaching and mocked him many a times on T.V. Woolmer had a software which had the capability to analyse every ball that had been balled in cricketing history and he used computing capabilities to its fullest in devising is game plans.
