Loss
by Seetharaman on Mar 19, 2007 12:41 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Yesterday i was thinking that after Chappel's contract he should be rewarded India's Coaching. He should have been India's coach rather than Chappel & viceversa.

I swear, I had the same thought. Even I had wished that India would give the coaching job to Bob Woolmer after the expiry of Chappels contract. What a huge loss for the cricketing fraternity.

Wolmer... A legend among coaches...
by neo rathinam on Mar 19, 2007 12:37 PM  Permalink

Coaches or managers were not famous in the game of cricket for a long time... Its was only the super star players who made the headlines... But Bob Wolmer was the first cricket coach to be noticed... He made the underdogs South Africa a superpower in the international cricket arena... He made them rise from their hibernation and tranformed them into a unit that matched the supermacy of Australia... There was a Sachin for India, Inzi for Pakistan, but there was no superhero for SA... During his tenure, 1994-1999, SA only played as a united force and this was due to the great effort of the coaching legend Wolmer... Its is really sad that such a man died when his beloved team hit such a low... Pakistan might have a chance in the next WC... but they definitely cannot replace Wolmer... I express my heartfelt condolences on behalf of criket fans...
