Bob Woolmer RIP
by cedric nazareth on Mar 19, 2007 12:51 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

ICC World Cup 2007 would remain etched in publice memory for a long time to come, no thanks to the untimely passing away of one of cricket's greatest coaches, Bob Woolmer. This should serve as a wake up call to the publice in general and the media in particular to treat cricket as nothing more than an unpredictable game. Over hype by the media leads to irrational expectations among the largely ignorant public in the sub continent. The constant media glare places immense pressure on the players, captain and coach in particular. One may never know what caused the sad and shocking demise of Bob Woolmer, but one can only hope and pray that such a distressing incident does not happen in the field of any sport. On behalf of the Indian people, I convey my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. Rest in peace, Bob Woolmer.

I agree with you. When an Indian team or a Pakistan team exits from World Cup Hockey its not taken so seriously. But why only cricket. All this happens because of the hype that is created around the game by the media. Winning and losing are a part of any game. We should learn to take them into our stride and go ahead with life. It does not matter who wins. What matters is only how we fought before we lose. Again cricket is a game of glorious uncertainities. Anything may befall any team on a given day.

DEEPEST CONDOLENCES
by nishk services on Mar 19, 2007 12:46 PM  Permalink

As an avid cricket fan, and like millions of other cricket fans who are saddened by the sad demise of Coach Bob Woolmer, i deeply condole the untimely death of a great man. With his new innovative ideas and beliefs , the man himself was successful every where he went . More disturbing is his time of death as Pakistan were thrown out of the world cup. This optimises the point that stress can really down a person to such an extent that bears such fruits like the death of Coach Bob Woolmer. My deepest condolences to his family.

Pakistan never deserved to have a coach as polished and wised as bob. Paki's are the root cause to any disaster and thats why they are called as the susprise package.

Dear Vikrant,

They may be our traditional rivals in cricket. But at this moment of crisis please have some kind words for them than being harsh. Such kind of crisis might befall anyone and we should do our best not to add oil to fire.
