SOMETHING SEEMS FISHY
by rajesh mankani on Mar 19, 2007 01:43 PM  Permalink

Noone vomits or has blood stains with cardiac arrest. This is a medical fact. Proper investigation needs to be done to find the facts. Also, Bob was too strong a personality to have a breakdown.

Blamed media for Bob's death and India's defeat
by Rishi Sharma on Mar 19, 2007 01:33 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The gloom over all the Indian cricket loving mob is due to Indian Media. They have projected that India is surely going to win the World Cup without realising the ground realities. This hype created immense pressure on the Indian Cricket Team and Purposely done by Media to make Indian Players nervous and to loose against new comers such as Bangladesh.
Inspite of asking for the retirement of Indian Cricket Team members one should ask Indian Media to be responsible for the national cause atleast.
We have seen the sad demise of the Pak Cricket Coach Bob. Its too early to say about the cause of the death but if it is heart attack then it was only due to media criticism. Cricket is just a game not a war. Media and fans should understand and take the game in its true spirit. If we will learn to accept the defeat and take the lessons from the mistakes then only we will make great teams. This is applicable for other sports also.
For the rise of Indian sports and games media should take initiative and they should act responsibly. Dont create a hype that a person of 50 kg weight is going to lift 200 kg in weight lifting event.
If we will learn to accept the ground realities then only we will bring some glory to our country. We should not associate the pride prujudices with the sporting events. When a player is playing, he is playing for his nation and he will perform better than his physical abilities shall allow. Sometimes you fail and sometimes you will succeed. Its just a game. Sports and games are not like studies where you are purposely trying to get fail.
Hope the media will reduce the criticism of the players of sports such as cricket and hockey to allow the players some time to get settle and do something for the nation. We destroyed the Hockey game by continuous criticism and we are soon going to loose the game of cricket. We were world champion one time in Hockey and no team in the world dared to defeat Indian Hockey Team but thanks to Media to bring Hockey to such a low level that it no longer appears to be our national game.

Yes, its true we have flopped in hockey. Also, it is unreasonable to expect our team to win the world cup especially when we are ranked No.6 in ICC ODI rankings. I think its too much pressure being imposed on very average quality players.

Good post Rishi Sharma. The media is trying the milk this mega event like anything. I see it on all - FM radio, Cable TV, News papers. They say SMS who will win the toss and you can win so and so, SMS who will be the best batsmen and you can win so and so.. heights of hype. Cricket is no longer a gentleman's game, the media, ad companies, boards like BCCI and on top the imperalistic ICC are greedy and political, they made the players scape goats.

My humble request to all cricket fans, just watch the good game and enjoy dont create so much hype. What a sad end to great man of cricket. Lived for cricket and died for it. Yes. It seems Woolmer has been poisoned to death. If the conspiracy is true...it will take a long time to wipe out the blood stains in this so called gentle men's game.

The most foolish decision.
by Rahul on Mar 19, 2007 01:21 PM  Permalink

If it is a suicide, it is a foolish decision. If it is out of pressure, then it is very unfortunate. If it is a deliberate poisioning, it something very serious. Dont take the game too serious; ultimately it is a sports and the spirit must be always alive..

bookie syndicate job?
by ashok m on Mar 19, 2007 01:18 PM  Permalink

Perhaps the strong and influential bookie syndicate got him after the exit of pakistan from the world cup.
Woolmer was the smartest coach around, one who started using computer techniques to assess the opposition's strengths and weaknessess. His efforts kept several key indian batsmen desperate for their favourite shots, such was his study of their style etc.
Pakistan were lucky to have him as their coach.
