HIGH PRESSURE GAME NO GAME FOR ANY
by mukundan unni on Mar 19, 2007 02:07 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Cricket no longer is played like a game and Woolmer is a victim to this high pressure business.Criket shud be palyed and organised the way football is played in Premier league in England with lot more participation and real good love for the game.May Woolmer s soul rest in peace and God almighty give all the strength to his family to pass thru this.Last but least let this be a lesson for all the cricketers in this world to realise the meaning of a word professionalism.

Do you mean to say pressure in football is less? Players have been killed in few incidents where they have shot into their own goals. Stakes are high there as well. Soccer is an equally dirty game

Cricket Truly a Life and Death for Woolmer
by sanjeev sharma on Mar 19, 2007 02:02 PM  Permalink

Firstly I pray to god that Woolmer's soul be rest in peace and offer my sincere condolences to his family. Woolmer was a real modern international human, born in India, Played for England, did highly successful coaching for SA and a slight controversial for Pakistan and now died in West Indies.

Given the evidence as stated in the statements from Mr. Mir, there could be only two possibility of death i.e suicide or poisoning (murder) . From Mr. Woolmer's statement after the defeat of Pak by Ireland, it seems that He has taken it boldly and was prepared to come back strongly, keeping this in mind suicide can be ruled out. So I sincerely hope that Jamaican Police will take this case very strongly and bring out the facts to the world asap, as whole world is watching it closely.

PERSPECTIVE AND PRESERVE LIFE
by J S on Mar 19, 2007 01:51 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

IT IS SO SAD THAT THE STRESS OF CRICKET COULD TAKE AWAY LIVES.

I AM IN RANCHI AND READ WITH DISMAY WHEN MOBS WENT TO DESTROY THE HOUSE BEING BUILT BY CRICKETER DHONI.

THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF ISSUES INDIANS FACE. MEDIA BUILT UP A FRENZY WHERE THERE WAS NO EXCITMENT.
THIS WC WILL BE REMEMBERED FOR THE AVARICE FULLY SUPPORTED BY MEDIUS

Look at this way when players do well in Game all praise them shower them with money so when they fail to deliver similiar treatment should be given. I also dont like this that public should take law in thier own hand but i am in favour of cutting thier match fees by 80 to 90 percent and taxing them for thier other income by same percent

More upsets by minnows needed!
by natraj tanjore on Mar 19, 2007 01:50 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

When India won the world cup in 1983 defeating west indies, It was a great victory! But when Bangladesh after playing three world cups and over 200 one dayers win a match against india, instead of congratulating them, we term is as a shameful defeat for india? why this double standard? Yesterday england won against canada, but the victory margin is narrowing! I think it is a welcome change, that more and more countries show interest and become stronger! one is tired of seeing only the Aussies with their boorish behaviour at the top! Indians being the nice gentlemen, with their prim immaculate behaviour, will never ever be at the top, So i would welcome upstarts like bangladesh to take the mantle and fight against the aussie! If anyone had the guts to stay awake after the fold up of the indian innings and watched the opener tasnim walk down the pitch and clobber agarkar / zaheer would know what i mean!

India chances for super 8
by Arun Prasad on Mar 19, 2007 01:47 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

we have a chance to qualify for super 8. if all of the following conditions are satisfied without fail.

Ind has -0.14 pts
Ind vs Bermuda - Ind should win by big margin (like by 150 runs or by 8 wkts with 10 overs remaining) 2.94 - 0.14 = 2.8 (sample)
Ind va Srilanka - Ind should win by average margin (but narrow margin would be risky) 2.8 1.5 = 4.3 (sample)

Bangladesh has 0.14 pts
Ban vs Srilanka- Sri should win by average margin (no need for big margin) -1.0 0.14 = -0.86 (sample)
Ban vs Bermuda - Ban wins by narrow margine (average margine is also safe or Bermuda wins -- wont happen) - needs 5.2 in this game to beat indias 4.3 ie 5.1- 0.86 = 4.34

As per my preciction india has still a chance to qualify for super 8. But Srilanka should defeat bangladesh else our players can start packing their things......

Do you really think that India deserves to be in super 8 the way we played against Bangladesh?
Get up guys we were never a world class team ....it would be foolishness to expect India win the worldcup

Unfortunate
by Tapan Shah on Mar 19, 2007 01:45 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

NO game is important than somebody's life. And so is The WC.
What we saw this WC is one of the saddest events that could be ever deicted in cricket history.
Media & cricket-followers in countires like India & Pak have made it inceasingly dificult for sportment to withold pressure which finally leads to events like one we've seen here. It was not much more, but tremendous pressure from fellow citizens that carried Pak to defeat & Bob to heaven.
We all, nations of the World, express deep regret & condolences to Late Mr. Woolmer.
And so would the media, now???

Its not a game. Its a war. Its the nations pride.
If you cant withstand the pressure ....get lost. Indians should learn to handle the pressure. Be lions....bounce back. Dont runaway from the battle field

Woolmer
by devashish chakravarty on Mar 19, 2007 01:44 PM  Permalink

While I offer my sincere condolences to the bereaved family and mourn as a cricket fan losing one of the great gun, i cannot rule out a conspiracy behind his death. I have a gut feeling he might have been killed. I only wish there is a proper probe into the incident
