people can be so little in their heads.. how does someone belonging to a different team be a bad person.. a person is an individual.. no one is bad for they belong to a different team, different culture or for that matter a different country.. give this a thought.. are you a bad person if like only ur team, only ur frinds, only ur family, only ur countrymen.. smell some selfishness.. still doesn't make u bad.. but does indicate very low level of thinking.. Human Life is meant for Simple Living and High Thinking.. Haven't You read Bhagwat Gita As it Is.. read it.. i am sure bro it WILL make you a much better person..

Sectarian gods?
by sunilkumar mishra on Mar 19, 2007 05:36 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

When cricket is a religion in India and Pakistan, where is the space for your religious beliefs and Gods. They need not be dragged into your games and sports. All our ills of the society has been borne out of this sectarian feelings for long. And we must keep in mind that Gods and godesses are not sectarian nor they should be bright into the narrow confines of our faiths. Your motherland is supreme and much bigger than narrow faiths. Is it that we pray Allah, Pak wins and we pray Vishnu India wins nad we pray Christ, England wins. Then they r not Gods.

Effect of Bob's death
by farrukh nadeem on Mar 19, 2007 04:57 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Cricket team of Pakistan, also requires someone like Pervaiz Musharraf to make them play. Islam like any other religion of the world, doesn't teach us to just sit and pray and leave everything to GOD for achieving our goal. Allah asks to do our work with dedication sincerity and leave the tension of result upon God. So putting on beards doesn't mean Allah will help you, without you doing your deeds. What is the use of becoming religious when you can%u2019t do justice with your profession? Allah loves honesty. What is the use of becoming religious when you continue doing backbiting as is the case of many Pakistani players? What is the use of becoming religious when you still can%u2019t stop going to nightclubs or for that matter using expletives or becoming violent against an abusive spectator. All intelligent cricketers use their bat or ball to silent their critics by piling up big scores or taking wickets, but Pakistani cricketers prefer to use their bat to hit or warn spectators who hoots them. Why do we follow a religion? Answer is simple, to become a good human.

Post Imran Khan era not a single captain led the team from front and in fact used his brain on team%u2019s unity. Imran used to bring talent from normal players but the current Pakistan cricketers does have talent but they are not consistent or as mentally tough as the players which were playing at the time of Imran. Perfect example of this is Shahid Afridi. In eleven years of his cricketing span, no body can tell anything sure about him. Not even a single coach tried to work on this batsman%u2019s problem. He is extremely talented yet of not much use.

Pakistani cricket team should at least think about the other Muslims living all over the world because Muslims wherever they are living are related to Pakistan in some way or the other, no matter whether they have a link with Pakistan or not. Pakistani cricketers should think about their each move so that they can show the world that all Muslims are not terrorists and uneducated but they have other talents also along with the dedication towards religion. In India there are lot of Muslim celebrities but very few strike a balance between their profession and religion.

Adding to the woes of Pakistan cricket, is their management, which is too smart to conduct dope tests privately only to reveal its results publicly. They don%u2019t have anyone to teach the players modern day sports science or English. We, Indians are preparing for the current world cup for last four years whereas Pakistan had not more than three permanent players (Inzamam, Yusuf and Younis) or technically sound players to start their campaign for 2007 world cup.

Pakistan cricket is in a very sad state of affairs and even 100 Bob Woolmers cannot change the current helpless state of it unless Pakistan cricket change its attitude towards the game. Bob Woolmer was an educated coach who was battling hard to teach cricket to a bunch of illiterate players of Pakistan. One silver lining after the bizarre incident of Woolmer%u2019s death is that at least he was taking his profession very seriously which eventually took away his life. Coaches like Woolmer and Dave Whatmore are born once in a lifetime. We need to salute Bob!

Give the man some respect dude... Atleast when he is dead. He was a good coach and a good man. He is responsible for bringing South Africa to the position in cricket where it is now.

It is extremely sad and unfortunate that Bob had to meet this fate. Heartfelt condolences on his sad demise. Buthis death does not seem natural one, as he may have been the victim of the terrible amount of pressure the players and coaches have to undergo from the crazy fanatic lunatic cricket fans in the subcontinent. This World cup from the start itself has brought with it biggest cup of worries. The way we have seen some of the reprisals and reactions from across the country from our fans, hopefully we donot see any such eventuality,I surely donot wish for such kind of event when we all have to repent later. Fans have to have patience and sensibilities to take both pleasure and pain in their stride. After all this is only a game , not a battlefield and this is surely not the first cup or the only one. We have world of battles and struggles to overcome much bigger than cricket. There is definitely a life outside cricket. This is not going to be the end of the world. Media friends have a big role in the whole scenario and they must try to underplay the hype and the reactions across the country

Agree with you. Bob's death can be attributed to ever increasing pressure by fans and media. In my opinion India and Pakistan should develop other games equally so that the focus on cricket can be reduced to an extent and none of the team members/ coaches go through the trauma.
