its disgusting !!
by cool on Mar 19, 2007 10:25 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

this really feels disgusting, why these things happen? I remember in one of the world cup football matches a player was shot down by a fan because accidentally from his foot the ball went in his teams goalpost....I also feel it is irrelevant for teams like pakistan india srilanka which already have worldcup title under their belt to imposter coach as an evil neither do fans have any rights !!!.......when the team is playing within the lights of inzmam, sachin, sehwag,dhoni,etc...howcan coach be respinsible...these players are class one and they know how to play cricket....if coach has any role to play it is evidennt in case of new teams which has new players with less exposure like bangladesh, ireland..etc..it is where the work of the coach is really important to tell them the techniques, the conditions and the cricketing tricks but certainly not in case of sachin, dravid, saurav, sehwag,dhoni,zaheer,irfan,..etc..i mean to say man these persons know how to play cricket........if anybody whos has to be blamed for the INDIAN defeat it is these 11 players who lost their MOTIVE, OBJECTIVE and GOAL when they were in the field facing the bangladesh wrath.....they were not playing as a TEAM.....i believe...and you know why this thing happened only because they were CASUAL in their game....i am quite AFFIRMATIVE that in no way GREG has to blamed for this defeat...these players have become so great...but greater than the status of COACH that nobody can tame them...but like sinusoidal cycle i still believe as an indian fan that the negative gradient is over and we again will see the amplitude towards positive side...let us believe that TEAM INDIA will overcome this and again cheering starts in the INDIAN camp very SOON.

Hi
Absolutly correct,I don't think that after such insidence any foreign coach will be ready to go to pakistan and after the treatment we have given to grg cheppal any one will be ready to join Indian team,This is a poor statement made by the respective country fans towards the coaches after all it is the resposibility of the playing 11 on ground to perform.

Regards
Vijay Raval

He was Ireland's first coach
by Suresh on Mar 19, 2007 10:23 AM  Permalink

Not many know that Bob Woolmer was the man responsible for developing cricket in lesser known nations under the ICC mandate. He was the man who built up the nuclei of the present Irish team. It was an irony that the same Irish team humbled the Pakistanis.

Next, he went on build up a fantastic South African team which was coming out of a long hibernation after the apartheid ban. South African players like Jonty Rhodes, Jacques Kallis, Allan Donald,Shaun Pollock, Mark Boucher among others owe a lot to Mr Woolmer.

My condolences to the family of Mr Robert Andrew Woolmer. Bob, you did a good job while on the earth. Rest in Peace

GOODBYE BOB.
by veeravel on Mar 19, 2007 10:21 AM  Permalink

IF IT IS A NATURAL DEATH, IT SHOWS HOW MUCH STRESS HE MUST HAVE UNDERGONE FOR SEEING A FOREIGN COUNTRY SUCCEED IN WORLD CUP. IF PAKISTANI TEAM HAD EVEN A BIT OF BOB'S OBSESSION FOR PAKISTANS VICTORY, THEN THINGS WOULD HAVE BEEN DIFFERENT. WHOLE PAKISTAN TEAM SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR BOB'S DEATH AND SHOULD FOLLOW INZI'S RETIREMENT. HIS UNTIMELY DEATH IS A GREAT LOSS FOR CRICKETING WORLD. GOODBYE BOB!

world cup in a wrong way
by surya prakash on Mar 19, 2007 10:18 AM  Permalink

We are really very sad to hear about BobWoolmer's death.

ICC organised this tournament in a wrong way. There should some chances
to enter in next stage if a team lose one or two matches at entrance,
ie: the best way is it should be 2 groups , then atleast each team can
play 7 matches which will be intresting. Then take direct semis from
the two groups othervise super six or whatever it may be.

Now Pakistan is not a super eight team and India chances also very less
if we lose a match means no chances to enter further stage that too in
a tournament which will come once for 4 years. Its very bad without
india pakistan match there is no entertainement in world cricket.
Now how many peoples are in a hurt possition in india and pakistan.
