In the wake of Indian performence in world cup Chappell must be fired and Dravid should resign from captaincy, Sehwag must thrown out of team. Saurav should be asked to take charge of captaincy, Kaif and Raina must be included in team without delay

India at World Cup
by gerry ambrose on Mar 18, 2007 09:43 PM  Permalink

If these players have any self respect they wouldnt eat or sleep till they win the next match and get back into the world cup. I just cant relate how a player like Sachin or Dravid who get so well paid and on whom the nation has placed their trust and expectation can go out there to face a listless bangladesh attack and get beaten as if they were school kids playing against goliaths. It is a shame and i am really impressed with the quality of thick skin these players have. And for God's sake someone step in and sack that senile Sehwag. He looks funny and plays like a cartoon. He is ridiculing the entire nation and the selectors should show some sense if they are wishing good for the country. As regards Ganguly, well he is a man with a mission to prove and only bcos of that he is scoring. I dont sense any national spirit in him. But at least he has a personal mission. If our players have just that alone, it would help under the circukstances.

Wrong selection
by deepak deshpande on Mar 18, 2007 09:34 PM  Permalink

It is Rahul Dravid who should be sacked as captain. Ganguly should lead. Gautam Gambhir should have been selected in place of Sehwag. Even now Dinesh Kartick should replace Sehwag.Ramesh powar should have been selected. At least now, sreesanth should replace Agarkar.

Dhoni should be dropped.- Deepak Deshpande

It is not unexpected - Viewers can save much productive time.
by Venkataramana Dhara on Mar 18, 2007 09:29 PM  Permalink

It is better that with the exit of India and Pakistan we can avoid watching cricket matches on TV and use the time for much more productive purposes. No tensions please. Sorry for the sponsorers and SET MAX. The Indian teams defeat is not unexpected. They have no plan and aim. Only make money and enjoy the celebrity status. Viewers beware, selectors take care.

Indian team's performance.
by Anil Nair on Mar 18, 2007 09:28 PM  Permalink

It was shameful. Now is the time to weed out the non-performers & start giving chances to young talent,so that at least by the next World Cup we have a fighting-fit team. This loss is more of a wake-up call!

Seeing the performence of India in world cup against minnows we would not like to get mature,if we perform puja than we expect some performance from them and they are carrying the tricolor flag in their hands then they must stand accountable for the lost with minnows to the 100 crore people of India.

It is not the question of maturity.it is agony of billion people.India team is not monows.they are well experienced and capable of playing better than this.It is protest against their lackdiasical performance aganist the babies of the cricket.Had they lost to Australians, the poeple of india would not have made such furror. Please try to understand theie feelings.Had they really put up great fight and lost the match that would have different case. But their meek surrounder to the bangla tigers hurt our pride.they deserve more than that.they become millionaire just because of adulation by the people of India.

You have made a great point. The reaction (or lack thereof) of Australian fans during their recent losing streak shows their confidence and faith in their players. This is not about patriotism - the difference is the Australians are truly the best side. We think our side is the best for emotional reasons, but look at our record - we are not the best, not even close. In this particular instance Bangladesh outplayed us in every department of the game through aggressive bowling , fielding and sensible batting. The Bangladesh side deserve full credit. The Indian team now needs to clearly identify what their game plan will be for the next two games.

cricket has gone to the dogs

vandals have taken over cricket. it is the death of the game in the country. they support whoever has done well on that day and burn the effigy of whoever has done badly on the day. tommorrow they may burn ganguly's effigy and put flowers on tendulkar's. really cricket is dead in this country.

can't imagine sachin's effigy being burnt. this is goondaraj.

World Cup Opener
by TRA Krishnan on Mar 18, 2007 09:25 PM  Permalink

Why Sehwag in the opening slot after all his debacles in the recent past? Why all the batsmen including Sachin played too cautious and appeared to educate the public how to play defensive bat? Why all others could not do what Munaf could do? If the showing is like this against Bangla Desh, what will be the status against Lanka? I think the entire team members and Management have taken Bangla Desh for granted and played casually. As people have reacted in media, better to return rather thyan playing further. Only Yuvraj showed some class.. Saurav did not know how to play in the first 15 overs, though he showed some class after Yuvraj came. Overall it is pathetic.
