Cricket world cup has been so exciting over the year, although i'm too young to remember the 1987 world cup and the 1992 world cup but i have watched old tapes of the 92 world cup.
There were many exciting moments in the world cup but for me the most exciting was the akrams bowling in 92 final (his amazing swing bowling) and aravinda silvas hundred against the aussies.

One also should not forget that eventfull semifinal between Australia and South Africa in 1999. Partcularly when Lance Klusner was clobbering the Aussies all around the park. Yet he could not pull it through

I guess WI also has done it either in 1975 or 1979 when they won the cup.

West Indies 1975 & 1979 West Lost there first match in World Cup when India beat them in India's first match in 1983 World Cup. Sri Lanka 1996 Australia 2003

In 1992 world cup Sachin used to come at No 4 not at No 6. And Azhar told him to open during One day match against New Zeland in Hamilton in the absense of Ajay Jadeja.

you may be right, but i think sachin use to come after kapil dev. Later after the worldcup Sunil Gavaskar advised selector and team managhemt to send him on top order.

Yes you are right that in some Matches Sachin came after Kapil as Kapil open the innings in some of the matches.

In my Opinion It was Azhar who told him to open the innniing during a Match against New Zeland in Hamilton as the usual openar for India was not fit for that match. I think Sachin scored 84 in that match.
