On the hindsight - we so much of data around these days anyone can create this stuff- i dont find it any informative or interesting - Looks like a shit work
The raison de etre of statistics as a field is to uncover hidden patterns in data. Now, what is so esoteric or impalpable as "pressure"? I shall ignore the fact that pressure, (anxiety, actually) is a relative thing. The fundamental question to be asked is, what is the data that I get out of this graph? A simple graph that plots run rate over all overs bowled so far, reqd run rate at this point, with dots indicating the fall of a wicket is sufficient to judge the position of the team in a contest. I dont need to be accurate down to the 100th decimal place. I just need to know whether it is impossible, improbable, 50-50,likely,100% sure. I dont need a statistitian for that - I can tell from the score. Nobody needs a computer to tell them to abandon all hope of India winning a game.
Dhoni consults rediff's pressure meter to decide whether or not to defend or play agressively. In the dressing room, Sehwag, is also feeling pressure of a different kind. Not a man to be bogged down by the situation, he lets one rip, resulting in asphyxiation of 3 players and support staff. This results in rediff's pressure meter going off the chart...
Look ma! Rediff's axiety meter is off the charts! We are going to lose for sure now!
The pressure index seems to be a very innovative idea in explaining how closly fought a match has been. Probably Version 2.0 will have a parallel graph of both the teams, batting and fielding. Maybe some index for individuals who play a big part in a particular game. Hero or villain
Aussie will not win the cup since there is powerplay and other new rules ... just watch how they struggle in this world cup... and open bet for all cricket lovers.
I am not totally convinced by the pressure index. There are a hell lot of factors to be taken into account. Last World Cup, India had much more pressure playing Kenya in the semi-final than the previous game in the same cup. The reason was the rain. Within 25 overs, if the game is disrupted due to rain, it would've been called off. However, after 25 overs they would have decided India as the winner by D/L method. But the pressure was was very, very much on India, and Ganguly, in order to speed things up, introduced Sehwag and Yuvraj (spinners) to speed up the over rate. The pitch was not welcoming and the bowlers DESPITE THE RUN RATE VERY MUCH UNDER CONTROL, were under a hell lotta pressure.
It was a unique situation, sure, but similar "types " of pressure situations occur once in every 5 ODIs for the Test playing nations (against one another).
Nicely conceived. Appeciated if the various parameters considered to derive pi value are shared wo actually going into nitty-gritty of maths. May be the developers are not confident to share the logic are do they fear piracy of there ideas. Sure it would be not popular unless u make the readers realize the factors accounterd rather than veiling the process
Whichever team wins, immaterial. It is nice to dream, India only India. The passion with which we would be watching every match featuring India speaks of it.

Sachin is not a match winner & he never plays in crises or crucial matches. If India want win the WC Yuvaraj & Dhoni should contribute more...

Crucial match!! How about 2003 waorld cup India vs Pakistan? Sachin's 95 was a match winning innings. Sachin regularly has disappointed in many crucial ODIs and test matches but lets compare him with other indian greats. How many tournaments hve been won by India courtesy Sehwag or Dravid or Ganguly or Yuvraj alone? Its a team game -- one or two players can't win us the crucial matches.

The 2003 match was crucial for Pak, not for India as we had already qualified. It was Sachin who won the game for us & kept Pak out.

Dont shit here without facts. you are bashing sachin because you can not digest his success. shame on you. one thing you must know that cricket is 11 men game not one man game. you can not expect from one person to open and bat till last in every match.

ohhh, is it? but whenever sachin plays some big games and big score no body even remembers the other 10 players. it suddenly becomes a one man army kind of game and when sachin (the fake god of india) fails suddenly the burden is shared among every one saying that it is 11 man's game.
