I had heard in the past of proxy wars on net, I am wondering if people like Rajesh, Uncle etc belong to that bandwagon and suspect if they are Indian to begin with !! someone below has given such a huge analysis and we still raise baseless idiotic questions??? TO all the fans of Sachin Tendulkar find out one match where it was crucial for India and he played and bailed India out of trouble. Check the records even the most historic wins have come without Sachin Tendulkar. There was zero contribution from him. Its but natural for him to play against low profile team and set records. Great batsmen always play against best and they always preserve there best for the big day. Check out Lara's record or even for instance Jayasurya or Ponting. There is no criticism here but your so called god is no where in competition. Time to join the commentary team.

Hope u have very short term memory or u shud be a school kid. No one can forget sachin's contribution. E.g sharjah cup(coca-cola cup) against Australia, where he single handedly fought againt Aussie in both batting and bowling. He was even specially awarded as crowd entertainer. He will show his patriotism again in this world cup.
Try to cheer INDIAN Team now. or atleast stop irritating like this..
what's great that sachin is playing 5th WC?? do anybody remember a single match wining knock from him ?? when team really needs, he is always failing to perform. no question taht I am a fan of him or not, but this is a reality. Dear Jai, you are making confusion between personal records and match wining knocks. what team has to do with his centuries ?? as far as match wining is concerned.
Take example of Brian Lara, he has scored less centuries in ODIs and Test as compared to Sachin, but Lara has played lot of match wining knocks for his team. Many matches he has pulled like anything and that too one handedly. I am not intrested in making any scene.
But we Indians should learn to appreciate real quality players who does not belongs to India like Lara.
I am not undestanding what people have do with centuries, a real player don't bother to hit a six even when he is batting on 90 plus. Sachin is totally reverse.

I think you are a stupid guy. you are saying this only because of people aspecting some thing extra from him. but you should know the reality that out of his 41 hundred , india won 28 times . is this not a contirbution or winning knocks? out of his 71 fifties india been abled to win 38 times. My friend team is a collection of individuals, so if all individuals perform its a collective work, first tel me what do u mean be combined win. The fact is, in india , cricket is like a religion so every1 knows them and there is always something abt them, either by media ot by advertisement, ther is nothing run in tat, every1 would like to go only behind the winners not the loosers.
Everybody is supporting their heros. But the main thing is that all the wickers are newly laid in WI and nobody knows how each one behave. Already SAs have complained that the wickets are not good enough for cricket. I heard lot of people saying that the WI wickets are fast but I think they are still in the hangover of Lloyds' era. Just see the facts of the recent Indian tour of WI. All the wicket in WI are on slower side and stroke-play is difficult. Only grafter who milk the bowling (Dravid, Sachin, Attapattu, Yousuf, Inzy, Chandrapaul, M Clarke, R Taylor, I Bell) excel rather than hitmen like Gilly, Viru, Sanath and Co. for that matter we miss Laxman/Kaif coz both are not hitmen but grafter. It's already been predicted as a low-scoring WC. Watch out n enjoy guyz.

When many people say how many of Sachin's hundreds have come for a winning cause, I decided to check the Cricinfo stats and here are the results.
Out of the 41 hundreds, 11 hundreds have gone in vain.
I will try to analyse each of them.
1. 137 off 137 balls Vs SriLanka at Delhi in 1996 World Cup. India scored 271/3 in 50 overs. The only other 50 score was from Azhar. SL made 272 in 48.4 overs. Manoj Prabhakar had 4-0-47-0. He also opened in the innings with Sachin and scored 7 of 36 balls.
2. 100 of 111 Balls Vs Pak in Singapore- Apr 96. India 226 all out in 47.1 overs, When Sachin was out score was 186/4. Pak had a reduced target of 187 from 33 overs.
3. 110 of 138 Balls vs Sri Lanka In Colombo - Aug 96. Again India 226 for 5 in 50 overs, Only other 50 score from Azhar (58 of 99 balls).Sachin has also bowled 6-0-29-1, the second most economical bowler and the only wicket taker (SL were 230/1 in 44.2) of the match next to Srinath. 7 bowlers were used by Azhar.
4. 143 of Balls Vs Aus at Sharjah, Apr 1998. This was chasing under lights. The qualifying match before the final. The whole world knows about this match. Still one interesting point, when Sachin was out India were 242 at 5 at 43 overs. Target was 276 in 46. Still India finished at 250/5 scoring just 8 of the next 3 overs. Great performance indeed.
5. 101 of 140 Balls against SL at Sharjah in Oct 2000. Indian score was 224/8 in 50 overs. (No other 50 score). SL got 225/5 in 43.5, Sachin also bowled 5-0-22-0, better economy rate than everyone except Srinath.
6. 146 of 153 Balls against Zimbabwe at Jodhpur - December 2000 India made 283 / 8 in 50 overs. Sachin was the last man to be dismissed, score was 235/8 at 46.3 overs when he was out. Agarkar and Zaheer Khan propelled India to 283 in the last 3.3 overs. When Sachin has scored 146 of 235 in 46.3 overs, you can guess what the other 8 great batsmen were doing against the World class Zimbabwe attack. Second Highest scorer was Zaheer Khan with 32. Zim got 284/9 in 49.5 overs. Agarkar bowled the last over. Sachin also got 6-0-35-1
7. 101 of 129 Balls Vs SA at Johannesburg - Oct 2001 India got 279/5 in 50, Ganguly made 127 of 126 balls. When Ganguly got out, the score was 193-1 in 35.2 overs. Sachin was the last man to get out at 263. SA got 280 in 48.4 overs. Sachin bowled 9-0-51-0, second best in economy rate next only to Agarkar (10-0-45-1)
8. 141 of 135 balls Vs Pak at Rawalpindi, March 2004. India were chasing 329 and were 317 all out in 48.4 overs, 8 balls to spare. No other batsman made even a 50 (when chasing 300 ) and when Sachin was out, India were 245-4 in 38.4 overs. They needed 85 from 68 balls with 6 wickets in hand.
9. 123 of 130 Balls vs Pak at Ahmedabad, April 2005. India made 315/6 in 48 overs (48 over match), again no other 50 score. Second highest was Dhoni 47 of 64 balls, (third highest was extras - 39). Pak made 319 in 48 overs. The three quicks (Balaji, Nehra and Khan went for 188 runs from 26 overs between them taking only 2 wickets). Sachin bowled 6-0-36-1. No Harbhajan and no Kumble.
10. 100 of 113 Balls Vs Pak at Peshawar, Feb-2006. India were 328 all out in 49.4 overs. Pathan and Dhoni got 60 each. When Sachin was out when India were 305-5 in 45 overs. Managed only 23 in the last 5 overs.
Pak scored 311/7 in 47 overs and won by D/L method. Could have been anybody's game. Sachin did not bowl.
11. 141* of 148 balls vs WI at Malaysia. India made 309 /5 in 50 overs. Sachin was not out. Pathan was the only other 50 scorer. WI made 141/2 in 20 overs and won by D/L method. Again could have been anybody's game.
In the other 31 instances India has won 30 times and once there was no result.
Now, please think again when you say sachin's 100s were in the losing cause and that he is not a team player. It is a fact that for the entire 90's India played International cricket with 1 player and 10 jokers.
Intresting Part Only 5 Centuries against minnows like Kenya ,Namibia[non test playing nation]...and Kenya was the semi-finalist of the world cup'03 10 scores of above 90 against only test playing nations...now can anyone tell me how is he selfish?? 34 times he scored more than 80 and couldn't reached 100..If he played for his records..he could easily scored 100's all of those scores above 80's ...

So despite of his brilliant knocks we failed to win the match just bcoz others not contirbuting..Yuo can win ODI's just wid ur own batting but u can't win test matches wid one innings bcoz test played for 5 days its a 4 inning game..Still Tendulkar's record in that era is Awesome.. and remember The awe of opponents was as great as that of crowds. But the finest compliment must be that bookmakers would not fix the odds - or a game - until Tendulkar was out.
I agree with u that sachin is not playing well from last 2 year... but can u check once again... in 2005 he came back again vs Srilanka after elbow injury i think.. in that series.. he had good average.. century in test and 2 50's in one-days.... one in 90's. and then india went to PAK.. 1st test is CRAP.. no chance to bat.. 2nd is OK... he played average.. 3RD test bouncy pitch which all indians didn't play... in that he went out for a delivery which is technically not out.. later seen in replay ... hand is away from BAT.
in one-day's he played well... 1 century and 2 50's... unfortunately india lost when he hit century because of Bad light. in 3rd ondeday around 94 runs got out to move up the run rate... then with england in home ground.. again.. below average.. then again injury...
in DLF he had 1 100 and 1 50 scores... it was ok.. champions trophy ..whole india didn't play well.. but his scores r pretty much better than.. other colleagues. In SA he had good starts but cudn't capitalise it well... He is not playing that BAD.. he just cant make it big scores as he done b4. So, wait until he regain his confidence... He deliver it soon... so be patient.
India started winning when he come back from injury in oct 2005 vs srilanka... india won SRI 6-1 then PAK 4-1 and ENG 5-1 then he had injury.. then lost the momentum.. with WI 1-4... from there India lost his tempo to win matches. b4 Oct 2005 without sachin india went to SRI and lost and also i think in ZIM with ZIM and NZ also lost.

very nice meaasge... infact this should be made a top story... i've also liked reading the articel "leave sachine alone", also posted in Rediff... the fact remains the same--- we expect too much from Sachin... to score a century every time he walks out to bat... infact we miss him even when he is not playing because of injuries... our analysis always says that sachin had'nt scored a century in the last 9 months/1year... it doesnt say, dat he had hardly played any cricket during the time!!!
Go... Get the Cup Sachin... We remember the century you scored against Kenya after your father's demise... and we saw you wreaking the Pakistani/Australian attacks... All the best!!!

I always, in my own mind thought of being one of the big fans of cricket and Sachin.
Every time argued against people who knew little fervently.
I know there will be better and ardent fans then me then me but thought it will be hard to prove.
But here you are man.
People just have short memory and do crazy things like comparing Sachin with Ponting and get even crazy when they compare with Dhoni and all. Forgive them and keep a copy of this piece that you wrote and keep pasting it every time and refreshing their memory.
They will be glad.
Am just lucky to be a part of this era where I can say I saw Sachin play live.

OK he is god what had happened to ur god on 23 Mar 2003 in the finals against Australia. Ur god was tamed by Kangaroos and he never came up after that in cricket check the records. Its time to say bye bye to cricket and join commentary team. What do u say? TO all the fans of Sachin Tendulkar find out one match where it was crucial for India and he played and bailed India out. Check the records even the most histoic wins have come without Sachin Tendulkar. There was zero contribution from him.

and regarding Ferrari, it was a gift from Schumi ( Schumacher ). Its govt. desicion to call off the tax for Sachin. Later some GULLY organisation who need publicity and attention from the public started crying on Sachin.
one question for u: Wud u like to pay more than 1 crore of tax for a gift car where u have already own cars in ur house?

I love you MAN. What a great collection you have got its simply GREAT. Sachin is always the greatest BATSMAN & CRICKETER in the UNIVERSAL. Hope sachin & the team gets the world cup for us. Encourage the team guys
Whether U approve of Sachin to be there in the team or not, u have to concede that he is damn a dedidcated and sincere to the game he loves so much and always tries to give >100%. He is surely the complete player if u can call one in cricket. He is one such player who arouses so much of passion with the millions of fans in all age groups he has created in India otherwise hungry for sports heroes. Other batsmen of his time like Lara, who is a genius or even Ponting may be more successful for their teams as far as winning the games on own terms is concerned,but Sachin far surpasses both of them in technique and purity of skills. But everything said and done, he has his best days past him. howsoever great u r, all good things have to come to an end. U grudge this great lad when u see that he has to struggle for a position to play,he refuses to realise that he is being pushed down the order because he is no more the force he used to be, there are already replacements to take his eminent position he used to menacingly occupy. It is all because he is already "out of order". U have to still appreciate the great attitude shown to him by the whole BCCI, the coach n all others who matter for not showing any dissent in public at least, though there are already mild murmurs u hear from various circles including from his old mates. Greatness multiplies when it is coupled with grace and humility and lack of it leads to grave humiliation. As somebody has said u should quit when people ask why, and not when ask why not. U have played enough for the country to deserve a pride of place a very few can claim with their sheer merit and contribution. U have earned enough money only few sportsmen have done. U have hardly left anything to achieve,show or prove to the world. Then why to wait for the ingnominy. Befor u become a liability for the same team u carried on ur own weight only a few years back, is it not enough to say goodbye with billion showers of praise than to face the wrath of the same billions. But with all the hard words i wud like to be the first person to shower my very best wishes for the great Sachin who only can silence his critics with his on-field talking with the bat and ball, prove his detractors wrong and eat humble pie. Let Sachin win many more miliions of hearts by being intrumental in winning the Cup. If so, as Gvaskar recenly wished, he may still play the 2011 Cup who knows and why not. my frnd u r forgetting one thing,,, he was the first and only automatic choice for the worldcup team and u r saying tht he is been demoted but u forgot one thing tht it was an unanimous choice of the selectors nd captain to strengthen the fragile middle order, he will never be a liability and he knows bettr than anyone when to call it a day ..
come out of the shell man,,, sachin is at his devastating best when he gets the big occasions..
He is simply awesome and the backbone of Indian cricket team. Never mind all the players in India, a lot of players from different countries in the world looked up to Sachin in their learning days and got inspiration and determination to play well. If we interview/conduct an analysis from different batsmen in the world, most of them will say its Vivian Richards, Sachin Tendulkar, Lara that they idolized during their learning days and still do. If you ask experts in cricket, they will also repeat the same names (including a few more) if asked about the greatest batsmen of the cricketing era. So, those of you who doubt his contribution to cricket India and world cricket, please stop criticizing the heroes of the country because, he has been playing for over 16 yrs now and he does not need to prove anything to anybody. I am very glad I have got to see some of his glorious innings and I will be deeply sad the day he decides to call it quit. We Indians tend to catch one bad thing immediately but always forget all the good things a person has done in the past and thus majority of Indian people are low on self confidence. Please respect our heroes and admire them for everything they have done for us. None of us Indians pay respect to any of our freedom fighters / hero%u2019s.
