Aristocracy Personified
by Indranil Sengupta on Mar 01, 2007 08:04 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

In our senseless debates on Dada Sachin Dravid, we say nothing about Kumble mostly.
I have tremendous respect for this
gentleman cricketer.
Taking 10 wickets in one ODI.is a great achievement.
The bespectacled aristocracy personified is
one player whose absence I shall feel most when India plays without him.
I request him to postpone his decision
and serve a few more years
after the cup is over.

Every great cricketer has to go at some point.
As you said Kumble is a great cricketer but it is his time to go. Unfortunate but true.

Nobody wants to stick around till they are kicked-out.

hey man if u dont know anything ,,dont write ok,,,Kumle did not took any 10 wickets in an ODI he took them against pakistan in 1998-99 test match at delhi...and one man in test cricket have also done that earlier..

Kuble is a good bowler but he cant fit into ODI's as he cant bat and hit even 10 runs when needed...

yes i agree. Kumble is a great test bowler, he doesnt really fit into ODI team, but there are two more aspects at play here.
1) India as a country values ODI wins more than test victory, for us ODIs are more important
2) Look at the quality of Indian bowling, who is kumbles replacement it is Harbhajan Singh who is not great in ODIs either.
No wonder Kumble is keen to play in ODIs and we lack quality guys who can replace Kumble in ODIs

Amen dear,

By now you should know one thing about us Malayalees - we form very strong malayalee cliques wherever on earth. Perhaps even beyond -Who knows? (Irrespective of religion, caste or status - when a malayali meets another - outside kerala - there is an indescribable affinity that we dont even feel even for our other fellow south Indian cousins - atleast not to the same extent!)

When in Pakistan, I came across a few keralite that ran South Indian Restaurants. They already have a functioning Kairali association there!

As soon as we have a second malayali player in the team (if that ever happens) dont be surprised if they get together and form a Kairali association within the Indian Cricket team too! :)

Back to your point about the preponderance of 'Sreesanth' articles on rediff. Didnt you know that Ajit Balakrishnan, CEO / Owner of Rediff, is a Malayali?

Please put 2 and 2 together.

Looking at the way we fought and divide ourselves on regional lines in this chat, it is very hard to imagine India playing as a collective team. Now you are bringing mulayam into this topic. So I have to reply on that.

Firstly Mulayam is from UP. Lallo is the one from bihar. Laloo and mulayam are worlds apart and they are political rivals. So your combination defies any logic.

UPA will do anything thinking their south mps will bail them out. Their 2 states tamilnadu and kerala whole mps are supporting upa and so they are providing whatever asked by them. Southies are together ruining India by cornering all major infrastructure development projects which they have no right on.

Dont be so carried away by the congress sponsored opinion polls. Mulayam and together withhim bachan family is also joining us and UP confirmed for us. None can stand in UP against the ones who bachan is with. Natwarsingh has addressed press conference with amarsingh and he is really exposing congress. Look at who is with Mulayam, whole bachan family for popularity and amarsingh and reliance for financial support. Now who is with congress only flop govinda.

UP alone accounts for a big chunk of MPs. Up will vote with whoever bachan stands with. So mulayam will win. Ultimately Bachan will be President of India and PM will be Mulayam or Amarsingh. Since Mulayams son is tipped to be next future of UP he will shortly becoming Cm of UP. So mostly Mulayam will be PM.

Next elections we are going to capture power in centre, and all of you will be shown your right place. Next time mulayam is also joining us and UP with us you people will thrown out. Most congress ruled states are also turning to us because anti-people policies. Growth dont mean growth for rich only. Youare supporting congress for this. Numbers are now with us People are waiting to throw them out. Congress policy of rich more richer and aam admi getting empty promises wont work. We can ourselves throw you out you southies. If you want to stay learn Hindi, otherwise landprices are ruling high now better to sell and move to your states. All non hindi speaking people should be thrown out to their own states. They have no place in India. Look at Punjab uttarakhand results, you all will understand.

Raj,

After reading your notes, I have decided to become your fan. Here are some jewels from your earlier posts:

"Since Mulayams son is tipped to be next future of UP he will shortly becoming Cm of UP. So mostly Mulayam will be PM."

"All non hindi speaking people should be thrown out to their own states. They have no place in India"

"Up will vote with whoever bachan stands with. So mulayam will win. Ultimately Bachan will be President of India and PM will be Mulayam or Amarsingh."

"Southies are together ruining India by cornering all major infrastructure development projects which they have no right on."

Since you are such an enlightened personality - and a politicaly analyst and astrologer rolled into one - could you explain why UP bhaiyyas are targetted everywhere they go. I am not talking about South India here. Why are UP Bhaiyyas and Bhaiyyanis hated in Maharashtra / Mumbai. UP Bhaiyyas / Bhiayyani are often kicked and forcibly sent back from Pune / Mumbai railway stations by proud Maharashtrians. The reason they give for this hatred of Bhaiyyas / Bhaiyyanis is that UPwallahs spread filth in Maharashtra. Is that true?

The situation in Assam is even worse (and mind you, the last time I check Assam was not in the South of India!). Proud Assamese believe in the "shoot first, question later" policy in dealing with Bhaiyya / Bhaiyyanis from UP / Bihar. That is so sad, isnt it?

Now, you have no problems with being kicked by Maharashtrians, and being killed by Assamese. But in South India Bhaiyya / Bhaiyyanis want to be welcomed with Idli, Vada and Sambhar! Bhaiyya Bhaiyyanis want to be treated like Rajnikant in the South.

Please tell me Raj, why this double standard towards the South.

Your heartbroken South Indian brother,

Setu Madhavan

Dear Setu Madhavan , thanks for your wonderful replies. Being busy here dont have much time to spend in message board. So am writing a short note on your first post.

But your second post is really a gem. Will try to reply on that later

On you 1st post

You were the only voice responded to me with notable points and thanks for that.

I have no disagreement with your opinion that CEO will invest his company's capital where it is safe with an environment conducive to his company's / shareholders growth. Provided gov maintain a level playing field I know there is loophole here you will find LOL. So I am once again explaining. Gov is seen giving special incentives to those investing in south states. See the dayannidi maran going on canvassing for his state. Chidambaram concentrating on south centric businesses growth and infrastructure development aiding this. so all in all there is huge gov spending also for south compared to north. Again to your words. So yes seeing such support for investing in south they are investing there.
Now you say is it fair?.

I am seeing very many instances of treating south and north differently by government. My opinion is once you are elected you are the gov for whole of India not for south alone because of they form the major chunk of mps supporting them. In case of tamilnadu I have seeen another thing , their MPs, no matter who rules- will be with the ruling side, that too with huge chunk of mps.

As I said before because of time constraint signing off. Once again congrats for your 2nd post. It was great talking to many people here having different view points

Take care.
Raj
