Such things happen only in India. There are so many talented players who are ignored. Why the fuss on selecting the players on past performance. It is only the money factor. The Team India plays only for money. Better sense should prevail on the Selector. India will be let down by Batsmen and pathetic fielding. Lets hope Team India does better with Saurav in the Team. Pathan,i think never took his place for granted coz he always looked committed to the game and country, unlike the players who were dropped due to lack of performance he shdnt have been treated in that category as he was mismanaged by the captain and coach in the name of experimentation.He shd have been left alone to do his bowling instead of trying him at no:3.When he clicked at that position everybody praised him as the great alrounder but when his bowling started to fall apart there were no excuses.Bowlers at the international level work on a particular kind of delivery for years together before trying it in the international matches(eg;harbajan and murali's doosra,kumble's flipper,reverse swing for seamers).Pathan was forced to try out too many things at once which has led him to mentally chaotic condition as he is in. Nobody can find a fault in his talent,whereas whatever confusion is in the air can be attributed to management.I fear same thing might happen with an youngster like Robin uthappa,in a hurry to accomodate seniors in the batting line up he's also pushed up and down which may him too in a state of condition where pathan is in.Lastly,it will be unfair to drop Irfan if he doesnt come out with flying colors in WC coz he is one of the future players who can play for india long.Instead,they can rehabilitate him by sponsering his one to one coaching with a sensible retired bowler for few months.
Hello, it's sheer farcical and ridiculous to here about Irfan's clearance for the Cup based on such a forgettable performance of today.To whom we r fooling? or whole India is so shameless and idiotic to believe so. Nobody grudges his selection as he is a very able player deserving the call, but think if u have given so much backup to many others who were perhaps more capable than him or no way inferior at least. By this act, either the so-called wise body of selectors fully exposes its so called wisdom when the whole of India and even the whole world is watching us or it shows little respect for the fairness and smacks of arrogance or may be it is blinded by some other probable factors than that meets the eye. Should we not come out clean on this whole morbid affair and tell the world the real reason, mind u that almost whole of passionate India spends hell lot of time and energy gets glued to this beautiful game of cricket which has almost captivated them to near madness, enjoying it, encouraging its National team anticipating to win everytime it plays,do surely deserve a better deal or so it is felt . In any case, my and alongwith me whole of India would have only very best wishes for its team to win the Cup this time , not to loose heart with the comments as it is only a feeling sunil mishra, hyderabad

But I think we should also see his long-term performance and a person who has been on the international circuit for much time now. Why do not you forget Sourav Ganguly. Did he perform so well before returning again back to the squad?

Hi no blame game nor any witchhunting, very best wishes to Irfan and our team for the Cup, let's not scout for parallels for the wrongs and mistakes of the past must we not laern from those? but let's not pretend. is it not the chairman of the selectors who tagged the selection of Irfan to west zone' solitary game against central zone it questions that only any way lat's get back to cheer india happy that comments have stirred up the sensisbilty of people to react? sunil

Veteran Kumble will be dangerous for India if he plays. 1. he will not be able to score 5 runs if India needs to win the match. It seems he really confused 2. It will be easy to hit the spinners never turn ball 3. he can miss crusial catches at pressure

Only Indian Board can do this! Irfan is no Sachin or dravid or Kapil that he can be retained only based on previous performances. Irfan should get a Ganguly / Zaheer Kahan dose. Otherwise there will be never any pressure on him. See how much benefit Ganguly and Zaheer got from being sidelined for a long period.

hey.....if u look for previous performances.... then dravid would not hav evr played so many odi's... and ya ganguly has a much better record than dravid or kapil.......not many ppl noe dis but ganguly is the sole indian batsman whose batting average has nvr dipped below 40....even wen he was out of sorts....neither sachin,azhar,dravid or any indian batsman can boast abt it for tat matter..... as for irfan..if india play 5 bowlers in any match then irfan has to play coz otherwise if our famed batting lineup fails...then it would be no surprise if our innings folds up for a sub 150 score....so irfan has to go...morever d selectors hav played wid irfan a lot......y wasnt sehwag sent back frm South Africa...he looked far more out of sorts..irfan at least got a hundred nd a couple of wickets in a first class game which sehwag was unable to do so

Utsav, this means that against strong teams like Aus and SA, India want to enter with 5 bowlers. It also means that we can play with two spinners whenever Irfan is in the team! Zaheer, agarkar, Irfan, Kumble and Harbhajan will be a very potent attack. And if one of them goes for runs, no sweat, we have Yuvraj, Sachin and Ganguly for backup.

It is very clear that Utsav understands Indian cricket much better than many famed people including scribes and past cricketers who were calling for Irfan's head even without understanding what his role in a WC campaign might mean for Indai. Simply put, Irfan can be the difference between an average 230 type score and a very good 260 plus one!!
