i am not at all agree with vensarkar that pathan have to prove the fit first in deodhar trophy and if he perform well then they will select them for WC...i think pathan is one of the best all rounder after kapil paji, they should go with pathan and he will be a match winner in WC matches....good luck for pathan

Vensarkar is not questioning about Irfan's form/ability. He knows he is a good alrounder. Thats why he is in WC squad now. Its all about his fitness which is going to decide his place.

You want Suresh Raina? and Kaif? Well you should watch matches consistenly...
I agree Sehwag is not in form but dont suggest these players as their replacement...
I think it would not be right to not send Irfan Pathan to the World Cup even if he is not fit enough to bowl, becuase anybody who has seen his batting could very well know that he is a classy batsman as well. I think he would be a best fit for good batsman's slot and may even bowl well if his spirits were high. Instead of roping in new batsmen for the openining slots, the selectors should have considered Pathan as an option, as there was already competition for the bowling positions. Anyway, "gold is gold it is put on the head or wasted by throwing into the mud." I pray for this classy player with a temperment that even the senior players like Dravid have to learn some.
I really do not understand what Vengsarkar means by 'fitness'.
Is it only physical fitness? I would like to tell my dear friend Dilip Vensarkar that it is NOT only physical fitness that matters. Mental fitness should also be considered as a major factor.
Dilip Vengsarkar says tha Irfan would go to the World Cup only if he proves his 'fitness' in the Duleep Trophy.
Why, in the hell, is Virendra Sehwag being sent to WI for the WC when he is both physically ad MENTALLY unfit to play?

well said pathan on agood day has the cpability to destroy the opposition with both bat and ball. Sehwag on the other hand has a history of capitulating to pressure even when his form is good and throw away his wicket. If dravid wanted to take a chance pathan would be abetter bet than sehwag to win matches for india
This is the worst team management. We cannot get an alrounder like Irfan. Now Irfan is in this situation only because of the team management. They treated him like a frontline batsman.

yeah.. dilip vengsarkar is as straight as they coem. he is doing a great job as a selector. straight n strict.. no mincing of words.. no bias.. you perform and prove and you go to WC. those who have commented about he being bias abt shewag must realise that he is the one who was instrumental in dropping him from the home series of West indies.
Irfan is a class player and an allrounder. If he is forthright and feels that he not 100% fit he himself should opt out. In case he is 100% fit and yet not selected on the basis of performance many more should be dropped.
I think team management should guide Irfan so that he can be improved in the area where is lagging. He is one of the best All rounder who can give match winning performance to get the world cup.
