Pathan should play WC 2007
by Vivek Nair on Feb 23, 2007 02:34 PM  Permalink

He is a specialist bowler who can bat and in few matches he had made india win by batting. Selectors should treat him still better and dont forget the contributions he had made with the ball. Ofcourse players go out of form sometime, but he should be in the 14.

Irfan Pathan's Fitness for World Cup
by vishwanathan sridharan on Feb 23, 2007 02:32 PM  Permalink

If Mr.Pathan is not fit there is no point to keep in the playing 15 instead some young guns can be picked. Mr.Pathan as a Bowler should learn from Mr.Zaheer Khan & Mr.Sourav Ganguly the way they really bounced back in Indian squad inspite of somany hazzles.

Some interesting stats of an Indian batsman :
1. was a regular member of the test squad as a pure batsman despite failing to put a 50 score in his 1st 19 international innings
2. was a regular member of the ODI squad despite failing to score 50 in his 1st 15 ODI innnings ( that too came at strike rate of mid 50)
But since the selectors showed faith on him, he ulimately emerged as one of India's all time best middle order batsmen in both forms of the game. The cricketer mentioned here is Vengsarkar. Vengsarkar, learn something from your own life and stop putting unnecessary pressure on the players by making such comments

just don't be stupid. the time vengsarkar played was different and the time now is different. dont compare the two different periods. when somebody doesn't do well he has to sit out no kind of recommendations no politics at least in sports!!!!

Hello Rajkumar

where are you? In India or abroad? Who said no politcis now in BCCI? Do you know when Sehwag and Kaif failed, Dravid, Sachin, Chappell every one backed them and gave more chances to them. When Ganguly was not performing well, no one backed him. Normally if captain is not performing, he will be removed from captainship and remain as a member of 11. But what happened in Ganguly case.

Now Ganguly is doing well, but in how many press conference our captain praised him? not even once. He said something diplomatically.

After Sachin scored a century for winning side after 4 years in ODI, he said my bat will answer for all who criticised him.

A 10000 runs scored person joined the Team after 16 months, said i learnt Cricket is nothing, there is lot of things apart from cricket.

Where is Gr8 Ganguly and where is scahin?
DONT LIVE IN DREAM WORLD, YOU ARE WATCHING POLITICS ON CRICKET MATCHES? NOT CRICKET?

Selectors should allow Pathan to play in World Cup 2007.......
by Pankaj Kapoor on Feb 23, 2007 02:25 PM  Permalink

I think selectors must select Irfan Pathan for WC 2007. If they will not select him for WC, it will be a big disaster because he is a good batsman & match winning player.

Dilip Vengsarkar is quite simply and by far the best Chairman of Selectors that Indian cricket has ever had.

Pathan
by Subramanian K on Feb 23, 2007 02:13 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The main question to be asked and answered :

Is Dilip Vengarkar FIT enough to be the Chairman of the Selection Committee?

Look at the team selection......crowded with non-performers..........and leading the pack is Virendra Sehwag.

A beautifully performing all rounder like Irfan Pathan's capability is being questioned.

God save the selection committee.

Vengsarkar selected the best 15 members of India for WC.Just think about the bowling attack we have.Ww have faith in Jaheerkhan & agarkar only & they may become cost in main matches like last WC's final.Just enjoy the cricket whether it is playing by India or not.Don't forget to watch great fieldings from Australia,SA,WI.SL .................

If you could please enlighten me with the last "beautiful" performance given by Pathan?

Though I do agree with you on another non-performer - Sehwag, scratched around for 40 odd in the last ODI and got out in a fashion that deserves a sack!

your views seems to be absured if not prejudiced. There is no question of doubting Vengasarkar's credentials. As far as Pathan is concerned if he is not fit 100% better leave him and opt for Romesh Pawar

Where is Pathan Now?
by Raj on Feb 23, 2007 02:10 PM  Permalink

I am realy surprised about Pathan's form. When he started playing for India, I have seen a lot of potential in him. He had done wonderful job in pakistan for under 18 world cup. Where is he now? Where is his form gone? I request Pathan to come in good form, like what Ganguly did. He is a dedicated player and put whole his heart and soul into the game while playing the game. I want to see his form again.

Raj
