Its a Shame For ICC
by gurinder singh on Apr 29, 2007 01:54 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Its a shameful situation. The world cup final was played under rainy conditions and thus was reduced to 38 overs. It was a win situation for australia from beginning.Obviously any team which has to play 38 overs instead of 50 with 11 players will score profusely. The match should not have been played on 28th April.Rather it should have been postponed to have a full 100 overs match.Shame ICC, it doesnt even have proper rules.

Any time,
Any where,
Any one,
Any rules & Regulations,
Aussies are Up always
my dear buddy, who dont you think that if it for 50 Overs Match, Aussies would have made 400 , which only would have worsened SriLankan Chances of winning the Cup.
See the body language of SriLankans after Gillis innings. They didnt even bother about misfields and dropped catches. They suggested that they have lost the match already.

it is not Australian team's fault that there is no one close to matching their skills and fitness. they always play to win and in this WC have crushed every team they played with. They are number 1 by a wide margin. Not sure how those chokers were given number 1 ranking just prior to World Cup as they come nowhere near Aus.

absolutely right CricketLover. why shd the aussies be accused of winning too much ? why shd they be blamed for the other teams' inability to win against them ? no team come even close to the aussies. the gap between them and the no.2 side itself is huge.

All FINALS,
WC 1999, AUS Vs Pak-AUSSIES WIN!!!
WC 2003, AUS Vs Ind-AUSSIES WIN!!!
WC 2007, AUS Vs Pak-AUSSIES WIN!!!

The last 3 times, have been AustralAsia encounters, and Asian teams have come a cropper every sinmgle time.

To all those, in this forum and earlier who THOUGHT/WISHED/HOPED/PREDICTED that SL would win...well well well it was just dat a WISH.

Some statements like Aussies are beatable?? They r not invincible??? They have not been tested???...the fact remains that they r the best team in the world, the 5-6 matches that dey lost just bfore the WC was just an ABBERATION!!

Dey would win 9 out of 10 times against any opposition in dis world, and dat 1 time dat u'd expect to win as a cricket team could/would not be d WC finals...sad n unfortunate for SL

Aussies Should be banned for next 10 years from playing cricket at any level
by Binu Moonjanatt on Apr 29, 2007 01:18 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Mighty Australians again proved that they are the best team in the world. Other teams are far behind them. They are unbeatable at the moment. When Mcgrath goes, Staurt clark is ready to take off. Brettle Lee out, Tait ready. Hayden goes, Hodge waiting.. I just hope Aussies cant substitute for Gillee.. he s the best wicket keeper batsman world ever had seen... Any one guy in the history of world cricket will never achieve 3 consecutive 50 scores in world cup finals with strike rate touching 150s all the time.. A real Champion.. If australia plays like this, then there s no chance for other teams. all are minnows infront of them. So bann them for another 10 years from playina cricket at any level so that Aussies can come down to other team's level.. Outstanding performance again.. Thank You so much for entertaining the entire cricket world....

The Ashes series makes them so powerful team...they play ashes for pride..If they lose ashes they will do anything to regain that pride..That preparation also goes in world cup..Something similar shud be done between India-Pak so that the Team is always fight forthe pride of the nation and not for the endoresemnts..

Next worlld cup in asia, champions Australia B team, before that CONGRATS TO PUNTER FOR LEADING A SELF BLEIVE ING INDIVIDUALS
This is the status of all other playing countries so Asian edition should be classifed into two groups one for Aus A and Aus b and other will be rest of all teams with Aus not playing other teams any time only between A and b team, so there is hope for other team for atleast writing a name on the trophy as THATS THE ONLY HOPE FOR OTHERS TO WIN .Aus should be awarded the trophy for life time and not be playing with any teams till others reach 50 % OF AUSssies status.

Help, Arjun Singh!
by Rajesh C Pathak on Apr 29, 2007 01:17 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It's high time Arjun Singh should pitch in and say there the forward-class in cricket (Austalia) can not take world cup every time. He should show the 'path' to ICC...Let there should be 27% reservation for Asian, 23% reservaation for Africa and rest will be open for others...and let there be one seat reserved for India in every 3 World cups as we are backward class of world cricket.

Onedulkar: I have 17 years of experience. I know that India will anyway lose to Australians in their way to win the cup. So I thought it is wise to come out early.

Funguly: I want to be Captain. No compromise in that.

ZaZero Khan: I have got the rhythm back for mumbai team. I have to further improve it for Bangladesh team. Give me time.

---bhajan Singh: I have been performing miserably for the past one year. What difference I can make at the world cup you fools.

She-wag: I may not get another opportunity at the world cup. Let me enjoy this one.

Dhobi: Why do you criticise that my batting looks like Dhobi washing cloths. I protest.

Buddaraj: I was Yuv-raj for the last world cup. Now I am no more Yuv.

Agarkar: Mai Agar Karoonga Tho, India jeet jate.

Dravid: The great wall of Germany got crashed. Who am I?

Australian Victory
by sambaran mondal on Apr 29, 2007 01:05 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Congratulations !!! Australia has prooved they are the lions , they are the kings ... hattrick in world cup defeating only the sub continect countries - Pakistan, India, and then Sri Lanka in the finals.
They are true professionals in the game and they have forgotten what defeat/loosing is.
Undefeated champians ... we salute you.

( May India learn something from you guys .Actually they have forgotten what winning is. Whatever Saurav ganguly did {made Team India} and started tasting success- [at least they reached finals last year] Creg Chappel came and poisoned the team -now his job(destroy team india) is over so he is moving out now and Dravid merely as foolish puppet does what Creg says- just to be a captain without shouldering the true responsiblity. Now our backbone is broken - it will take years to make another team now. Whatever, its upto the makers of the money and game , to do some good to the country or still suck public money and give no show.)

Australia is the Best !!! Well Done Ricky and his Boys .... Congratulations on bagging the Cup and taking home the World.

Yeah, for all those who say Lara/Sachin/blah blah.. are the best in the world, please stop doing it. Coz.. a player is best when he plays in times of need. Look at Gilchrist. He did not have a good tournament so far.Yet in the Final Crunch Game, he showed it. Still there are a lot of people who come in support of so-called best batsmen(??) and who say that these best batsmen alone cannot alter the fate of the team.
But have a look at the final match.Every Australian strugggled against Lankans, except ofcourse Gilli. He is the only one who made the difference. His innings is the only one that made the difference. Aussie bowling also not that great yesterday. In how many matches did these great batsmen (Sachin/Lara Etc) made it for their bowlers?

why the cry on sachin
by Sri Atluru on Apr 29, 2007 01:04 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

great statistics by everyone...

why only sachin... why did everyone of 11 players fail in all 21 matches...

and by the way, i did do something on cricinfo as u suggested...

tendulkar played 36 finals (out of a career of 384 matches until now) till now at an average of 47.96 (career average 44.05) with 4 hundreds and 9 fifties as well as 17 wickets.

ponting played 38 finals ( out of just 280) at an average of 41.93 (less than career average of 43.03) with 2 hundreds and 7 fifties

gilchrist 31 finals ( out of 268) at average of 39.79 ( career 36.00) with 3 tons and 5 fifties.

lara a9 (of 299) with an average of 28.16 (career 40.48) with 1 ton and 2 fifties.

grow up guys... tendulkar gives the most of all players everytime... or atleast till a couple of years back... the reason why he is unable to win matches is because he plays with 10 other fools and plays for a nation of 1 billion people who derive more pleasure in flaking their heroes.

agreed...sachin had not played such a good knock as gilchrists of late and may never play again... but i will tell you of one that is probably the best ODI innings in history...

the 142 at sharjah against australia...

that innings was such beauty... just for the way sachin batted... pure class... not power like a gilchrist, hayden or dhoni...

forget the man of matches, man of series... that was the only time in history of ODI that an award of 20,000 pounds was announced even before sachin was out for him providing the best entertainment in the history of the game...

for all of australias hattrick... remember none of their players came with a player of a tournament till this edition.

they played as a team and won as a team.

see india.

sachin performance is directly related to india's performance.

1996 - sachin blasts 523 - india goes to semis

1999 - around 250 runs - india gets back after super sixes

2003 - blasts 673 - goes into finals

2007 - only 60 runs - return after first legs.

what are the others doing... the 10 remaining idiots are the ones who should be sacked...

Sachin is the problem in the Indian team. As Greg Chappel put it the other day "I dont know why Sachin is still playing; obviously not for making the team win or score runs" May be for product endorsement. Take some clue from McGrath and retire gracefully before Sachin is kicked out from the team

Sri,

AZHAR never allowed Sachin to get credit for what he did. Azhar called shots. The reason why Sachin was always asked to open was

1) He played well in opening slot.
2) Azhar, Jadeja, Mongia and many more who were not caught in match fixing could change the match once Sachin got caught.

Sachin player 12 years or some under Azhar. Azhar has played 334 one day internationals.

1)How many were fixed?
2) How many were those where Sachin played well but AZHAR FIXED THEM ALL?

I am not trying to save Sachin. But atleast make Sachin's fans and followers realize and fight for him. They do not know the real reasons.

why Sachin never got credit?

Yeah Man!
Thats what exactly I mean. He is there for creating (Personal)Records. Tell me in how many Finals did he lead India to Victory out of 36 he Played???
See Gilli, even at 98 and 149, he tried to go for massive hits, the first one led him to Century and of course the second was a failure. I am sure that all centuries that you have listed by Aussies have made their Team lift the Cup.(I didnt verify any records for saying this)
Sachin used to defend when he just crosses 90.He used to utilize 20 to 30 valuable balls (in Final !!) for getting 10 runs required for Century. If he had not done that, the results could have been more fruitful.
Okay no doubt about that.He is one of the greatest batsmen around the world right now.Even people who watch him closely (Players of Australia & other teams) themselves admitted that he is Great. But what we cry for is that he never led India into a Final Victory except that Famous One in Sharjah against Aussies. Sachin thus has remained as a (selfish) player who plays for his (Personal) records.
