How could anyone play in such pathetic light.What we saw towars the end was pictures with light enhancing cameras. It was near total darkness.Craziest officials ever to officiate a World Cup Final.It was probably a bit too graceful of Jayawardene not mentioning their terrible ill luck especially considering the occassion.I bet the Aussies would have made a huge cry over the conditions if they had batted second.

Well Pakistan in 1999 and Indian in 2003 were bad losers in the finals as well,so Srilanka has completed the Asian Trend and belong to the elite group of the most one sided losses in Finals of WCUP history

australia got 38 overs to play uninterrupted. Thats not the case with srilanka. They were playing when it was actually raining on the field. That also changes the pitch conditions. See the delivery which got jayasuriya. Its not a fair match. Srilanka wasnt let to bat in the right conditions.

@greatrr

I totally agree... nature was against SL right from start... but its surprising, how come ICC carry on with such an infair game... that too in such a hyped match.... when you play the toughest team, the conditions should be same for both... this final is so unfair.. poor sri lankans...

Life is not always fair but it's fair in an average sense. In the 1996 WC semi-finals, India lost to SL in a match where the pitch crumbled in the second innings. Now SL gets a taste of a similar loss in the finals. Enough said.

Aussies the boring winners again!!
by sathya hessenkamp on Apr 29, 2007 03:23 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

no fun in cricket at all! if cricket is played with this much certainity then its a disgrace to that sporting event! no wonder hardly 1/7th of world population know of cricket.

In European countries like germany, france, Italy and so on they have not even heard of this uguly sport. where the winner is the same.

so people, give it a break and lets join the
football party which is always 100% enjoying.

greatrr, these matches are scheduled more than a year ago!! how can ICC predicts that it will rain in this place on this day?! take care of your family members first. They might commit suicide if they come to know that you are such a brainless person !!

One thing I noticed about Gilchrist,s inninings was that he never slowed down .Imagine Sachin getting to a great start;he would have certainly slowed down as he neared his century.
The obsession with records is part of our psyche.Watch India play Bangladesh and you will certainly hear a Sanjay Manjrekar or a Sidhu analysing and microanalysing the number of centuries made by Sachin and Co against them in the past,their strike rate,the fours hit,the sixs hit,...... Shame to these commentators and us for letting them give us a false image of our true strenghth. I dare them to begin talking about their averages against top 5 teams abroad.Thay could call it the 'true skill average'.The teams should be WestIndies,England,Australia,NewZealand and South Africa(as the pitches in Srilanka and Pakistan are similar to the ones in India).
