As an Australian, I'm really impressed at the tone of the messages on this discussion board. The Australian team is regularly criticised internationally for being arrogant, yet to contributors to this board have focused positively on their cricket skills and have showed great sportsmanship by recognising a good effort by the Australian team during the tournament, rather than just being critical and upset. This supports my belief that Indian fans have a balanced view on cricket and an unequalled passion and knowledge of the game. I believe that the Indian team will rise to the top once again very soon %u2013 there is so much cricket talent in the country just waiting for a chance. I am very much looking forward to this great cricketing nation returning to its best!

Gilchrist cheated to win the world cup final, 2007....
Drugs enhance athletes to achieve records; use of drugs is illegal for athletes and banned. Use of heavy cricket bat is illegal which do not meet specification of ICC. Using a squash ball in glove by Gilchrist to bat extraordinarily is it not illegal to win world cup final, 2007? If any of the Asian team done this illegal act of Gilchrist, ICC would have stripped the cup and had given it to the opposite team%u2026

Do you really think using a squash ball was illegal?! He simply put it in his glove! The way you are presenting the issue, one would think he loaded it with dynamite, lit the fuse and launched it at a Sri Lankan batsman during an over! I'll bet we don't see an ICC resolution banning squash balls in gloves in the future, indicating that it is a non-issue for Australians or our good friends in the sub-continent.
What is disgraceful and shameful however is that the Australian cricket team refusing to confirm the rumours that Gilly is actually a boundary-hitting robot constructed by the Australian Cricket Academy - don't believe me? - those huge things attached to the side of his head are not ears, they are actually over-sized solar panels to power that thing. Ever wonder why his performance is not as good when the sun goes down..........
Overall, i think it was a fitting finish to a great World cup ! and a deserved podium finish for a lot of legends hanging up their boots after this finals...Glenn Mcgrath, Sanath jayasuriya, and most definitely wont see these greats in the next edition...Matt hayden, Muralitharan, Vaas, gilchrist ! Three cheers for these Winners !
well, Ponting n co. sure made Gavaskar swallow his words ! Adam gilchrist once again just proved why he is one the living legends of the game, and a priceless matchwinner too, unlike indian record pilers !
I am wondering where is sunil gavaskar gone now His comments about australian team before the world cup. Ponting made his bat talking to shut his mouth. Austarlia your are a great team deserve to win the worldcup.

Agree with you, Gavaskar would have come out all guns blazing should Aus have lost in the final.Gavaskars talk against Aus was senseless and shows he is frustrated with their success. hope Gavaskar now realises that Ponting & co not only talk on the field but they also perform. the main difference between Aus and indian players is Aus team plays to win, Indian team plays to get endorsements.(now Dhoni is should stop playing and rater endorse washing powder and Underwears).

True ! the gavaskars n the greats shud rather bother about indian cricket than talk nonsense about aussies...the aussies know wat they r doing...and you dont win games being nice to everyone ! being nice doesnt matter...winning matters at the end of the day !!!
MANY MANY CONGRATULATION TO AUSIS TEAM AND I WISH NEXT 5 WORLDCUP WIN.WITH BEST WISHIS TO AUSTRALIA, FROM -MOHAMMED HUSEIN AJMERI...........SURAT--MOBILE-9879206224
I am not sure how many observed this. In the match between India and Ssril Lanka Agarkar was bowling to Jayasuriya and the ball thudded into his front pad (right leg) and it was plumb, but as soon as Agarkar started appealing the wily JS moved hi right leg to down to legside to confuse the umpire, and now wonder the umpire succeded. However JS fell cheaply any way
In the match Aus Vs SL (the group match) again our JS did the same thing after getting the ball onto his right leg when Bracken appealed, but the umpire Doctrove upheld the appeal and JS had to go.
Yesterday, during the first over of Tait, he did the same thing, and umpire Bucknor did not rule him out.
Keep obesrving this practice of JS and you will agree he is the worst cheat seen recently on the cricket field

sorry about the error. In my first paragraph the penultimate line shd read as "no wonder the umpire got confused and turned down the appeal"
Why is gavaskar silent... why is there no appreciation from him for australia... old gavaskar with a huge inferiority complex knows only to let his mouth loose.... unlike ponting who talks with his bat.... GO PONTING GO !
