Congrats Australia..I AM LOWERING MY EXPECTATION. And looking at their bench strength and the way they nurture their young ones, I dont want India to lift the trophy next time.....just sometime before I die.LOL

Aussies played like champs throughout the WC - but the final was a farce. Mother nature and ICC officials helped them get the cup. When SL were hitting all AUs blowers, for a while I thought, Aussies are not incenvible. I really enjoyed the over when McGrath was hit for a 6,4,4.

i feel srilanka would have made .had their been no bad light & full 50 overs bowled.
to be frank aussie had advantage of badlight, cloudy atmosphere...WORLD CUP FINAL SHOULD BE PLAYED ON BRIGHT SUNNY DAYS ..NOT LIKE THIS..
SRILANKA R STILL CHAMPS

in the above game, at juncture, srilankan are above australia. Even in one run or one ball ? australion bastman milked the sri lankan bowlers. mind it. Australia have full rights as they win all the games. Yesterday game totally onesided.

Why only Sri Lanka
Pak and Ind are also champions since aussies did not beat them...and also the rest of teams which did not qualified for super 8.

Rules were same for both teams. Sri lanka took 11 overs to get their first 50 chasing 8 an over ... they lost the plot their ... it seems they were playing for Duckworth /Lewis score around 20 overs...and when match seems to go all way by then they were totally outplayed....

If it was a 50 over game Lanka would have to hide face becoz Aussie would score 400 runs.

Invincible Aussies !!!
by Abhilash Abraham on Apr 29, 2007 09:56 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The Aussies have proved to the world what a professional oufit they are. No doubt they are the best sporting nation in the world. Just watch one match of the AUSSIES and you'll know more about positive attitude, extra-ordinary planning and outstanding leadership. Remember guys...their team Coach Buchanan has played just 7 first class matches in his career. He was a former University teacher and see how well he has shaped up such a bunch of amazing cricketing heroes. Much credit has to be given to CRICKET AUSTRALIA , the governing body. This Australian teaam will be remembered as the finest to have played oneday internationals.

Bernard shaw is right ! How on earth you allow bad light stop cricket in a world cup when cricket is played at night elswhere ? What is the reserve day meant for if there is no lighting facility available ?
by venkatesanreddi on Apr 29, 2007 09:51 AM  Permalink

Even a local cricket matches are played at night all over the world how can a world cup final will be allowed to end in a farce due to bad light. It is a strange end for a great world cup of cricket. At least the final should be played to full 50 overs. In A rain curtailed match real talent is not tested.Of course Australia deserved this cup.

Australia Proved No.1
by Joby Joseph George on Apr 29, 2007 09:47 AM  Permalink

Australia again proved that there is no one to challenge them in any part of cricket. All teams who played aganist them lost badly. Its the mental strength of the players that matters. Ricky Ponting, is leading the team like a brave army leader who fights in war aganist enemies.75% of australian victories credit goes to him. Sachins records will be overcome by him in the next two years
