There is no denying that Australia played well through out and deserved to win world cup. But one thing about cricket, it has to be the most stupid game in the world of sports where the rain determines who wins or loses. Is there any game on earth in which the weather changes the course of the game ? There is no other sports which has so much luck factor. Rain just destroyed any sort o competition left in the game. What a shame that there had to be only 38 overs a side (36 overs for the chasing team) that too for a WORLD CUP FINAL ? Stupidest rules and stupidest formulas to calculate run rates!
What a shame the final was played like this , first reduced to 38 overs , then to 36 overs, then DL method. Shame shame on the organizers and ICC. what the hell is the reserve day for? And it was such a bad match devoid of any excitement.so were the semi finals. no close finishes. does really bad for cricket as a world event. cricket world cup is a sham . may be Twenty20 will save cricket.

What shame ? One cannot do anything against nature ? The 38 overs game was exciting ! The forecast for Bridgetown Barbados is no good for another 3 days. U should appreciate the organizers did well to entertain the public!!
If the final is fixed in London/Melbourne/Calcutta/Karachi and if it rains, will u blame the organizers for the natures fury ?
Krish Srikanth - It seems u dont apply your mind while talking. Without going into the performance and the ability of a Team, u blindly started saying yesterday in CNN-IBN that Sri Lanka will lift the World Cup ? Whats the basis of your analysis ? When Waqar Younis said Australians will lift the Cup, u were not agreeing with him.
Its amazing how a big media like CNN-IBN has appointed you as Cricket Expert in their Channel ? U know only one word to use in English repeatedly i.e. "Absolutely". Although u played for India, u have no sense when it comes to analysing a Team !!!

Srikanth needs to send his brains to the cleaners.. his conclusions are based on fickle emotional judgement and is mostly biased to his personal perferences.. even his criticism of individual are based on sectional and communal PoV!

The fun began in the third over, when Gilchrist with a controlled flick got the first four of the innings, through square; the next ball was met with the identical shot, only hit even better to power the ball several rows back into the stands wide of long on.
Sri Lanka would have won the World Cup had they: 1.Included Maharoof and Attapattu, and batted first they would have definitely scored 500 plus 2.Muralitharan should have been dropped and been replaced by Bandara 3.Chamara Silva should have been dropped and replaced by Attapattu. 4.Jayawardene should have been stripped%u2026(of captaincy of course) and Tharanga should have been appointed as captain 5.Ranjit Fernando should have been appointed media manager of the team. 6.Vaas should have been dropped and Suresh Periera should have been recalled 7.Jayasuriya should have been benched throughout the tour because Sri Lanka does not need an extra bowler. 8.Vice captaincy should have been handed over to Dilhara Fernando 9.Dilmah Tea should not have been their sponsor, it mixes with Dilhara and players will be confused as to who the sponsor really is 10.Malinga should have opened the batting and dyed his hair partially turqoise...
All these would have contributed to a World Cup victory for Sri Lanka and it is unfortunate, that I was not included in the think tank of the team.

this is exactly how the politicians and past cricketers think in india to divert attention and distribute the blame on inanimate objects. Today cricket is a milking cow irrespective of whether you are connected with the game or not. Otherwise why would a politician who i am sure has not even administered or coached even a club or school team will become the president of BCCI. He and the entire gang of mobsters who rule the game in India can only push the game further deep into the trench that had the indian teams obituary written on it.
