Have a bright Future
by kalyanaraman rajaraman on Apr 24, 2007 06:23 PM  Permalink

Sachin, you should come up with the goods in the near future. You should show the selectors how capable you are. Lot of difference is there between resting a player compared to dropping him. I would love to see the straight drive, square drive, flick and master class cover drive. Go back to the basics and play your natural game. Just think that you are 18 now and play. I am sure you will deliver and i am here to watch that. Please, please ,please play your natural game at no.1. Indian campaign did a big mistake opting you at no.4, the worst the world can see. Sachin at no.4 is like a body without soul. He should definitely open with explosive cuts and flicks

Hey Sachin,

Wish you a very happy birthday!! We all wish that you come back in Bangladesh and smack the minnoes to show them who is the boss. You will always be!! Let the team selectors also hear the knock and hope you get back into the one day team at the speed of your ferrari and perform better than that.

After all do well, the thing you do the best.

Why not, because Ten*dulkar will be played till his 50th year. And BCCI will use its influence with ICC and take permission to have a permanant runner for him from this year, and he doesn't have to field either, he will surely his a century every 20 matches.

ha ha ha!! that clearly shows the frustration of tendulkar detractors... Even when he's the senior most player, he can still be included in the quickest fielder in the Indian side... Only because u hate him doesn't mean that he's bad. He's the best batsman in the world. a striking bowler and one of the better fielders in the side.. What more can u ask for?????

Sachin, Can You retire?
by Upadrasta PardhaSaradhi on Apr 24, 2007 06:17 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Its clear that tendulkar is not the same batsman he once was - but that is only to be expected. His reflexes have slowed and he has lost that extra split-second that he used to enjoy. That makes him look more ordinary and vulnerable. But I still think he has a very compact technique. And given the lack of talent around, he can certainly hold a place in the Indian team for now. Would he make the Australian team right now - the answer is no. But there arent too many knocking on the doors of the Indian cricket team right now.

Where the team management can help him is by giving him a clear role. I think he enjoys opening the batting in one day cricket. It puts him in a positive mindset, and it allows him to enter the field when India is 0/0 - so his mind is fresh and clear. I dont think he has the adaptability to adjust his game to different scenarios when he plays in the middle overs. He ends up thinking about it too much, and not playing his natural game. So, I think Sachin should open the batting in one day cricket.

In test cricket - I think he should retire. We need to nurture a new look middle order. Sachin - in my view - is not a great test match batsman. He is good, but there have been many better than him. His only hundred in the last 2 years has been a scratchy one at kotla - and he is simply blocking the number 4 test slot. That is a slot that yuvraj should now occupy. In our test match line-up, I think we need to look at building the nucleus of a new team (batsmen between the ages of 23 and 27).

The argument for sachin to retire from both forms of the game is just that it would protect his own legacy. Ponting is going to break all the records anyway - so why should sachin protract a flailing career.

Ponting is great.. but nowhere near the greatness of SACHIN TENDULKAR. Ponting is not gonna break any records. His current form will be there for 2 or 3 years more and then.. he's going to be like anyone else.. I've noticed everyone who criticize sachin is pointing out his performance in the last couple of years.. That itself is an indication that he was in form almost for a good 13-14 years... IS THAT NOT ENOUGH?????

by on Apr 24, 2007 06:17 PM  Permalink

Here is wishing you a very happy birthday and many happy returns of the day.

Remember what Lara said when he left the stage - "Have I entertained you?"

Hope you continue to entertain us for a few more years in all versions of cricket and see you dominate the bowlers once again. Wish you good luck!
