Where is Indian Cricket Going?
by XXX on Apr 25, 2007 02:52 AM  Permalink

Readers: Take the case of South Africa, they were inducted into the national Arena 15 years ago and now are the number 1 team in the world. India is one among the oldest test playing nations and we are limping at 6th spot. Does this mean that Indian Players are inferior to South African players? Not at all. Individually Sachin, Dravid, Ganguly, Zaheer, Munaf, Harbhajan are brilliant. All matters when they come together to play as a team. Remember, Greame Smith was a rank outsider when the captaincy was handed over to him. (they had Kallis and Boucher in the list).Look at their team, they are playing as a single unit under the new captain. What are the Indian players doing? Be it Sourav's captaincy, Sachin's or Dravid's. The seniors are creating groups within the team and this is evident from the outburst of Yuvraj and Sachin and Chappell.Remember the captain cannot do anything unless he gets the support from the team members. Ntini has been given a warning that he would be dropped if he is not performing. Can anyone drop Sachin if he is not performing? Politics is everywhere in cricket boards but not like our country. So is the Idol worship. The so called fans of Sachin, Sourav and Rahul foolishly bashing each other in this forum is pathetic. they forget onething, the players are taking us for a task, they are not playing as a single unit and finally the fans are made fools. Another good example of team spirit is Srilanka. Who would have imagined that SL will conquer the world when they saw the team during the early 90s. They have dropped Attapattu for rookie LPC Silva. Now, will the so called GODS from our team realize their responsibilities and play as a single unit?or will the fans remain fools for ever and ever and ever? Bringing new youngsters to the team are mere eye wash. Just like you have various unions on the State/Central Govt offices, we have groups of the so called seniors and any new member inducted into the team will be forced to join any one of the group and this will go on and on and on. The BCCI should either take strict actions to curb the groupism in the team or else should dissolve. I beg that the "IDOL WORSHIPPING" fans of our so called greats, to come oout of their dream world and learn the reality. Till then, we, the fans, let us keep our brains off and watch the drama enacted by our Idols in the name of Cricket. Thanks

Wish you the best. If you want to play on then play the game like it should be plyed with guts, and not the defensive style whichyou seem to have employed.

Jayasuria is an example he is 37 bearly 38 yet he has taken SL to the Final!

Jayasuriya scored 1 run in the semi final yet srilanka won. Because srilanka play as a team.they dont depend on one individual. Its not jayasuriya alone took srilanka to the final. Its everyone contribution starting from sangakkara, tharanga, muralitharan, vaas, malinga, silva etc. Where as in Indian team once sachin is out we will lose the game. Its been happening all the time. remember 96 world cup semi final. jayasuriya scored same 1 run even in that match.but his team still ended up scoring 251. where as in Indian team, tendulkar scored 65 yet they did not score more than 120. more than half of indian team total was tendulkar in 96 semifinal too. not to mention about the 10 extra srilanka gave during that match. All remaining batsman in the team scored just 45.which is the real state of indian team.Once tendulkar retires we will know how many india will win. India will have to play with bermuda, ireland etc to qualify to play in world cup. Even if you dont respect heros dont badmouth them. All you guys know is only to discourage, critize others. Nothing productive you can do or get any name for India ever
