greg chappell can!
by Jay on Apr 25, 2007 02:25 AM  Permalink

quite a few suggestions:

1) our great gavaskar has said greg chappell can stop the aussies if he is made coach!!! (you know i am kidding, right)
2) we can check the horoscope of the aussie players to see how they will get out.
3) we can fix the aussies in some betting scandals..

go figure!

all easy said than done

which team has won maximum number of trophies in the last 5-6 yrs or so? its aussie..it means they never choke in a cup final, whethere champions trophy or in a WC..but having said that, they would be careless enough to face a definite ambush by the SA in semis or SL/kiwi in the final. as we had sen the poms thrashing them in two VB series finals...if they win the toss, they would obviously bat irrespective of bouncy pitch or a sluggish one..no one can restrict them to a total less than 300. and only the team batting second against them can win...

Missed the Hattrick......
by Urzs Only on Apr 24, 2007 09:48 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Australia will go down to South Africa this time & the finals will be played between Sri Lanka & South Africa. There-on both the teams have the equal chance of winning the Gold.

I said Sri Lanka in the finals because New Zealand are vulnerable against the spin attack & the likes of Murali & Sanath can be very productive.

Only Australia and NZ could beat Srilanka. If ever SA meets SL, whatever ODI that is SL will win 7 out of 10 times, in one sided fashion

Hence if we were to have a good contest in the final, pray, let it not be SA Vs SL

Captain Ponting Ki Ahankaar
by Srinivas Bharadwaj on Apr 24, 2007 07:35 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is clear that the Australians are very vulnerable. Gilchrist is a shadow of himself
at 36. Hayden always does well against mediocre
bowling but struggles against good controlled
seam or real pace. Gros Islet has not produced
big scores and the ball moves around. Getting
two early wickets and exposing Ponting to the
new ball is key. So Ntini holds the key to this
match. An early explosive spell can leave
Australia a couple of wickets down. Pollock will
also be fired up and must realize that the
Australians struggle in grass. Gibbs and De
Villiers or Hall and DeVilliers should open
with Smith one-drop and Kallis two drop.

Shut up.

Hayden mediocre against good attacks.. He has three hundreds this world cup and that too aginst...
South Africa... West Indies..... and NewZealand... Do they have a mediocre attackk. If you are comparing them to India... they surely have a mediocre attack....

A new series
by Devinder Chandrawat on Apr 24, 2007 05:29 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Well it will be a waste of time comparing Australia with the other three team.. Ideally, Australia should be kept out of this kind of tournament and they should be allowed to play agains two teams, formed out of rest of the world team.. I was wondering about the composition of these two teams based on strength of players of all nations.. these strength includes techniques, character etc.. and I was surprised later on to know that I could not list down a single indian player in both the teams.. from India and Pakistan team, I could chose only mohammad asif of pakistan.. cricket quality of both the nations has gone so bad.. quality of players has suddenly increased in other teams.. take the example of new zealand and sri lanka.. new zealand was my favourite team to win this world cup, becos of the merit of their players.. but the way australia is playing at this moment, nobody can beat them.. well as I suggested we should keep australia away from WC and allow them to play with the chosen team from players based on the world cup result.. otherwise who like to watch one sided games all the time..

yes i agree, from next time on australia should be given the trophy directly instead of wasting so much time and money.all other teams are mentally low against them. they have created such a huge impact in the past few years. they are rocking,

Australia has been the best team in the tournament by far. They have won all matched comfortably, at times thrashing their opponents mercilessly. IT will be unfortunate if they lose this world cup and in my opinion throughly deserve to win. It is just a matter of one good performance by the opposing team but then neither India or Pakistan could come close in the last two world cups. Will Australia be third time lucky? Mind says yes but my heart doesn't want to buy the argument this time.
