Anyone else getting tired
by Jasper kim on Apr 22, 2007 04:51 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This is just getting annoying, people should hold players accountable for how they perform not the coach. Chappell was a great coach, india won games under him & lost under him.

The coach is just there TRY TO to improve a team not make it godlike & win 50% of their games.

Sunil please if you think you can do a better job lets see you coach the drama that is the indian cricket team & after you fail to please everyone & fail worse than trying to get rid of the worlds problems. I would like you to try & defend yourself then as to why india isnt winning matches.

Just be quiet & watch india play & win/loose under a foreign or an indian coach.

Gavaskar on Chappel
by Anil Panikar on Apr 22, 2007 04:50 PM  Permalink

It is sad to remember that you inflicted greater harm to Indian Cricket. We remember you were on of the wise men who foresaw India's cricket going to the next level under Chappel. Convenitintly we have not forgotten however you may want us to forget that you recommended Chappel

Gavaskar blames Chappell for India's downfall
by bc nayak on Apr 22, 2007 04:50 PM  Permalink

Hats off to Sunil Gavaskar, with real guts and his bold statement.Having been insulted on the dias(pushed by Australian cricketers)how Sharad Power still supports Chappel for a consultancy post with Indian Cricket? How Ravi Shastri supports Chappel ?How BCCI tolerates the comment that "it runs like Zimbawe"?I think Gavaskar's this letter should be an eye opener for rank and file of BCCI;orelse the ninth wonder of the world is not that far;that is "a test and one day series defeat of India by Bangladesh".

gavaskars comment
by Parthasarathy Krishna on Apr 22, 2007 04:49 PM  Permalink

Gavaskar even at the loss of india against lanka was praising sachin as he took 2 wickets. The man has not grown with experience like his height only.Such imattured comments has only pulled the cricket to this abysimmal lowest level.Time we employ some proofessionals rather than these politicians!

as if Chappel was teaching tendulkar how to get out in pressure situation
by mihir on Apr 22, 2007 04:48 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This Gavaskar has gone mad with age. Cricket is based on individual performance unlike football or hockey. Once you are on batting then how does it matter who is coach or who is at the other end. What you have to do is just face the ball. Gasvaskar is speaking as if Chappel tought tendulkar to get bold on the most pressure match against sri lanka. surely one day it will come out that this nexus of Gavaskar/tendulkar were the biggest match fixer. Let the spirit of Woolmer to one last justice to cricket.

I think Mr. S. Gavasker is get up now from sound sleep & give the statement about Mr. Chappel. I don't understand why Mr. Gavasker gave the statement now? Dear Mihir ur right that cricket is based on individual performance, no one can say what will happen in next ball.

gavaskar made 36 runs in 60 overs and india lost. i hate this person's face. can chappel teach tendulkar how to hold a bat? or for that matter to all other indian cricteers. chappel could only infuse a courage to fight which the indian team does not have and they always are mowed down like ninepins. gavaskar should thank his lucky stars and remain at home without opening his mouth, and praise the Almighty to have kept his breathe running.gavskar was mad before and now he is a lunatic as his age progresses.

Well done Sunny

Gavaskar's comments have just about hit the nail on the head. The logic benid retaining the services of Chappel for any purpose whatsoever just baffles me. Maybe he can be used as a paperweight.

well said Gavaskar
by Anil Kokrady on Apr 22, 2007 04:45 PM  Permalink

What Sunil G has said is correct. We do have a colour blind BCCI and even Media. Otherwise how would our best and oldest known cricket commentator becomes a fan of chappel when he writes a e mail and gives a positive comment. Greg has done lot of damage to indian cricket and dropping Tendulkar and Ganguli is even bigger mistake. He always used media by selectively leaking comments about team and media always lapped it up. He leaked stories and comments to press but when tendulkar replied the board gives him a notice.

Gavaskar is absolutly correct
by pradeep singh sengar on Apr 22, 2007 04:44 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Kudos to Mr Gavaskar. At least somebody from india has guts to say this. Mr chappell failed miserably in his task of World cup 2007 then why the hell BCCI is even now thinking of taking any kind of help from him. He is a total mismatch for indian cricket and should be remembered as a creator of WORST PHASE of indian cricket.

since when was india a great team? except winning world cup in 1983 under kapil dev. and personal thinking apart, my gut feeling says that everybody hates gavaskar. and under gavaskar's captainship, what did he do and achieve? this person had played for his own motives and made money, now he should confine himself in his God given home and thank the Lord.

Grow up baby! It's the players who go out there and perform, not the coach.

if that's the case, why do we need a coach. If he doesnt have at the ability to make players play...why should bcci pay an exhorbitant amt.
