chappel had a vision
by tanmay bhargava on Apr 22, 2007 06:38 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

when everyone critisises chappel, including mr gavaskar, why do they forget the period when the same Indian team made a world record chasing consecutive matches. At that time the so called experimenting of sending Dhoni/Pathan/Agarkar at no 3 was hailed by everyone. Now the same ppl go on criticizing the same experimentation. Its only complecency on Indias part that has put them where they are.And as far as Mr Gavaskar is concerned, he should know that being a great batsman doesnt mean Chappel could make everyone in the team a great batsman too. If that could be the case, Rohan Gavaskar should have been the best batsman in India , considering the stature his father holds. Players getting complacent is the only reason why we are out of thw world cup

Yes, it is definitely good to experiment to make a very strong team. But one should not do any experiment just before World Cup. Greg tried many inovative ideas till two months before the WC. I think to much of experiment is also not good.

what experiment (2 months before the cup) are you talking about? Experimentation is over-abused word by the fans and media.

Pathetic attempt to squarely blame one guy. Having a erstwhile gutka chewer (and subsequently a former oral cancer patient) as president of BCCI wont help too

Thats bcos Indians love blame games. Mr.Gavaskar is too rude, it looks he hates aussies attitude. The way Chappel was dealing, the results were not possible with the present team. Except dravid, none has the mind to be flexible. People like Gavaskar n Mr.Gill can never take India forward in long race.

Gavaskar's remarks
by Waseem Qureshi on Apr 22, 2007 06:34 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The last sentence in the statement,:Now even Ireland can beat Australia" shows what a cheap and street level thinking this man Gavaskar has.He has always muttered more rubbish than sense. So,this is nothing new.We all know what an attention grabber he has always been.

And,what does he mean by saying that Indian cricket was filled with optimism at the time Chappell took over.We had just got thrashed comprehensively by Pakistan on home ground in the one-dayers and held to a draw in the test seires by an under strength Pakistan. We couldn't even bat out half a day in Bangalore to save the test and win the series. As usual let down by the ever final innings consistent Sachin Tendulkar.

Gavaskar is just attacking Chappell to compliment Sachin's tirade against him.The Mumbai cricket mafia at work again.

Absolutely true, Waseem. Gavaskar like tendulkar is a self-server. The cheap talk he resorts to shows his level. He recently apologised for his remarks on David Hookes.

Gavaskar has to be firmly shown his place if Indian Cricket has to improve.

Hai Wasim,

See the facts we had that Chappel made a complete mess in the dressing room and he himself telling all these to the reporters also this was never happend ever. It seems that he was just enjoying to riduclue the press, people and his superiority complex did everything.

Sachin is not the same old all we know thats right. But at the same time we cannot deny the reality.

Ratheesh,

Somehow it does not make sense that only Chappell was to blame for all the ills of the Indian team.He might have been high -handed and domineering--but he always wanted the team to do well and move forward.

Here goes Gavaskar again!!
by sameer bhadwa gat on Apr 22, 2007 06:31 PM  Permalink

Gavaskar loves to bait the australians and he is doing the same! Now the Aussies will take bait and some former australian or maybe even Ricky Ponting will launch a scathing attack on Gavaskar!

So, next blog for rediff will be "Ponting launches scathing attack on Sunny Gavaskar".

Some cud to chew for all of us!!

Rediff getting more hits and one more reason to argue and fight!! Great!

Sunil Gavaskar PLs Shut your Toilet
by Louis Dsilva on Apr 22, 2007 06:29 PM  Permalink

Mr Sunil Gavaskar , in the most unlikeliest event that you do read this and the other blogs , do take note of one thing which runs as a common trend of advice: PLEASE, FOR GOD'S SAKE , SHUT YOUR TOILET ( err your mouth) CAUSE WE ALL KNOW WHAT HAPPENS WHEN SEWERS OVERFLOW!!!

Gavaskar the selfish person
by ravi shankar on Apr 22, 2007 06:27 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is really not in good taste that gavaskar is talking is he lloking for publicity by talking all rubish, let him look at his record & talk.
He is not helping indian cricket or its players but only writing in the papers critising the players, coaches etc. Lets make him the coach of india & lets see if he can take any cup for India. Let him stop this immediately. Media is also to be blamed for the mess.

these are only maharashtrians who have spoiled cricket in india. BCCI has become puppet in their hands. everybody knows how gavasker and shastri were playing at ground, only they are big politicians.
maharashtrians only favor their own people regardless either it is in favor or against Indian cricket.
their every action is biased, partial and favored for maharashtra only.

Utter rubbish, do u know how many Maharashtrian players career wasted due to shitty selectors & crap quota system ? ever heard names like Milind Gunjal, Shantanu Sugvekar, Surendra Bhave ? they all were far better than what we have today like Parthiv Patel , Sanjay Bangar, Dinesh Mongia, Hemang Badani but still they were ignored by selectors just because of they were all from Maharashtra
