Sunny Bhai
by Raman sSubramanya on Apr 23, 2007 01:55 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Sunny Bhai..go to Himalayas and meditate....U have nothing left to do for Indian Cricket.
Wear Saffron dress and pagudi. Take a lotta and kamandalam with u. If possible persuade your disciple Sachin to accompany u, donating his huge wealth to charity. Both will be peaceful at Himalayas and India will be peaceful without u guys.

shastri
by seedhasaadhaladka on Apr 23, 2007 01:35 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

shastri has also succumbed to bcci and chappell to increase his own stakes in indian cricket. this shows the true calibre or lack of it of shastri. this guy dosen't want to quit commentary at the same time wants to be coach cum manager of indian team. the pretext he gives is that he wants to help indian cricket at the time of crisis. this is laughable as it is clear he wants to load himself with some quick money keeping his contract with espn and also being coach of indian team.

if the people of india do not understand someone as amazingly gifted and credible as gavasker ....if the mob is sending hate mail against someone like sunny when he is pointing the finger on enemy no 1 chuppal ....if the focus of some ignorant people has shifted from chuppal and dravid enemy no 1 to gavaskers credibility which need not be established for the zillionth time for all those who know cricket......then all i can say is that India as a country is infested by parasites and worms who will alwaze keep india deseased and downunder...and us indians will never lurn from history and fight amongs ourselves disrespect eminent fellow countrymen who have made india proud and sacrificed so much for the country and restrict india from progress of any kind progress in any feild ....

Our Attitude to our Sportspersons
by Rakesh r on Apr 23, 2007 01:25 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I dont understand about our hue and cry about our cricketers. What crime have they done? Is that they have made some money playing the game and ads? is it because that they didnt perform in the WC after all this? Why are we all wanting their heads?
If that is the case, we need to first look at our politicians. We need to look at their performances and the money they have made over the years. Why dont anyone raise their voice about these?
Are the cricketers targeted because they are soft targets? Can anyone got any answers for these?
I doubt anyone will have.

cricketers are targeted because the bcci can then divert the public's anger from its own mistakes. who is organizing excess cricket to mint money? who is not taking care of senior player's fitness? who is running indian cricket with no vision? answer lies in all these questions. sharad pawar should be man enough to take the blame on himself and try to find ways to improve the running of indian cricket. but i don't see that happening as india is again going to load itself playing so many meaningless odis this year all for the sake of minting quick money which will go into the pockets of bcci politicians.

views of Gavaskar
by sai krishna on Apr 23, 2007 01:23 PM  Permalink

Gavaskar may be right in his views. But no coach in the world will ask u to underplay. Coach only gives u direction, but what about players Sr.Players they are playing for the country. Coach is not asking u to bowl badly or bat like they did against Sri Lanka and Bagladesh. Then what is the meaning of Talent. Bad coach may give bad advice thats all, but as a player and as a representative of a Billion fans player that too experienced sr.players should have played well not heeding coachs advise.

AFTER THOUGHT LOGIC
by SATYAPAL on Apr 23, 2007 01:11 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Sunny has only expressed his view after the whole scenario is over. He is right only in putting one question "Should Chappel be again given the job of advising on "Future of Cricket in India". Being a member of the panel selecting Indian Coach, he has aired his views. Gavaskar has batted for himself and is still batting for himself literally to distance himself from being judged with the common thoughts of the BBCCI.

It takes a huge courage to take bull by the horn and come winner in modern logic of international cricket. Mr Greg has a planned vision which Indian Board wanted him to implement. But these players are more of individualistic natures and self-centered and do not wash to adjust the rising spirit of Indian Cricket at internatinal level. The hiddern bickerings among top officials and commercialisation being the priority with money driving the game and squeezing the true live spirit of the game and a number of ther regional factors, the Dalmias' unvisible hand on Ganguly come what may (not putting the spirit on a high price for any player) were factors leading to Indian Cricket to this far.

Great, Sunny is more of an advocating his views only after the debacle is over because then he is in a better position to air his views. He has never played cricket lively and fierecly in his time.

Sunil maybe over reacting but his blames are not totally false
by samson lawrence on Apr 23, 2007 01:04 PM  Permalink

A coach has to train his players to be leaders on the ground as the sitaution requires. He failed in it, we saw people depending on him, which proves he was bad.
Gavaskar as always is over reacting, but I have an idea, why doesnt the board take in multiple coaches Gavaskar could be one for batting techniques, Kapil for bowling accuracy, Vishwanath for square cuts, Some great spinners of old, so that the players get ample lessons and with some motivational and emotion control lessons, they should be able to take their own decisions on the ground.
One example was Kaif, he did things on his own in the field to restrict runs. The Captain told him his position on field, but many times he was far forward of where he was supposed to be and cutting off singles. He used his skills on his own readings. His misfortune was the batsmen before him didnt have the same nerves in tight situations and he wasnt the most gifted batsman. But the point is each and every player has to have leadership qualities. Coaches are mere guides and there their role must end.
Chappel exceeded his limits and we have seen the results.
Gavaskar has a bad mouth, but has a lot to give to the Indian team. BCCI must take notice, it could only benefit India.
Chappel lacked true professionalism, his team reflected that.
Comparisons with the Australian team will confirm what I am trying to say. Bevan or Hussey never did what Saurav did in the match against Bangladesh. They would have targetted 250, even if other players were fallinfg like nine pins. They always play aggressively after steadying a bit. Saurav should have known better but he had already seen courage is not supposed to be a virtue by selector and coach.
We need players to be leaders, because all the eleven are representing India or 1 billion people they cant be mere clerks witha bat aor ball.
