Gavaskar's nonsense
by Vimal Kumar on Apr 23, 2007 12:01 AM  Permalink

It looks like Gavaskar has not got over the Lillee incident and never will - I think he will carry it to his death-bed

Gavaskar blames Chappell
by nirmal singh on Apr 23, 2007 12:00 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I used to admire this man. Thought him to be an astute thinker of the game and an articulate critic, besides being a great player. But, now I think Mr Sunil Gavaskar has lost his marbles. If he's so damned clever, why has he not done anything for Indian cricket. The fact is, he was the first of the superstars, bigger than the game and always on the lookout for his own benefit. No wonder he doesn't find any fault with Sachin, Sourav and the others of his tribe.

You may be right about Gavaskar, but i think we should be ready for constructive criticism even if it is from the person that you don't like.

I think he has a point in this topic. Doesn't matter how much skilled Chappell is, indian team went from top to botton in his 18 months tenure. So there is no point in brining him back for any job in india.

Botton line, Chappel doesn't know how to coach people in this sub-continent.

What Gavaskar has said is wrong and unfair!

But to say that he was always on the lookout for personal benefit is not right! if you disagree, prove me wrong!

I respectfully disagree with you man.

How can you ignore the fact that Gavaskar batted for whole day and made 36 runs? Is that the best interest of the team?
He stood there to satisfy his big ego.

I never excuse him for that..ever.

What personal benefit would he gain by blocking the crease for 60 overs and making 36 runs??

In fact, he would get a bad name!!

1) he always played for himself and records

2) had regional bias players like sudhir naik and suru nayak in indian team because of him

3) he may have been great batsman but not a good captain neither is he a good coach nor a sportive man

He was in the panel which selected Greg as Coach so he is also to be blamed

you are damn right this is the man who bred the breed of cricketeers who have put personal glory greater than the team. If any thing this man needs to shut up. The tragedy is you didnt have the balls to stick up neck anytime for the sake of the game and one man who dared to call the bluf of some of the indian pigmies have got the goat of the king this tribe. Long live chappell thank god you happened to indian cricket the nation has woken up. the fact is despite their personal records they are all a bunch of Loosers They dont have the balls win.

india - the backward nation
by kalyan chatrathi on Apr 22, 2007 11:53 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

lemme summarize ..

The brother of india's national coach supports him and lambasts one of India's best batman of all times .. that's OK with the public ...

The coach calls the same batsman as part of 'mafia'- the same guy who never gives interviews, no SMSes to journalists or no leaked emails or messages .. that's OK with the public ...

One of India's greatest batsman criticizes this
coach (who became ex-coach) and people denigrate the indian player ...

if this isn't inferiority complex that a white skin is better than an indian .. i don't know what is ..

PS: Sunny quit on the team as a player - that's an offense., Greg Chappell quit on the team - that's an unpardonable offense ...

guess, indian fans will never grow out of jealousy (towards players for minting money thru match appearances and sponsorship) and their unprofessional behavior

Rediff Mgmt - All your discussion boards does is spread hatred and give people with narrow mentality a chance to rant ... when all they do is sit in a corner of the globe and rot. i am not saying everyone's is that ... but a majority of them are here to take their frustration out on someone. thank you., i'm not coming back to the site anymore

How dare you use a title like "india - the backward nation"? I don't care what your reasons are, how dare you degrade india?

You moron, you seem like talking about gavaskar and chappell but your title degrades india.

If you can't take constructive criticism or debate with all kinds of people then get the hell out of here.

Thanks for deciding to never come back, stick with your word.

Slave Mentality BCCI and All its Office Bearers
by Rajkumar Singh on Apr 22, 2007 11:49 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

One of our greatest Indian heroes and one of the gratest plater of all times in the game of cricket is absolutely right in his assessment and judgement. It is Greg Chappell, BCCI, Selection Committee and the captain are responsible for the deplorable situation of our cricket. But we cannot expect better than this. BCCI president is a slave of Soniya Gandhi and this quality is there in the rest of the members of BCCI, the selection committee and the captain. They are out to destry the patriotism and all patriotic players of the past, present and future. The all desrve kicks at their backs in open market places, even that will be less. They cannot find a person for the Academy from among out all time greats as Sunil, Kapil, Mahinder, Ajit, Pataudi etc. but like to lick the feet of a foreigner. I spit on the faces of these slaves even that does not fully express my hate to this bunch of idiots and criminals.
