someone who, along with dravid, groomed youngsters such as raina, pathan, kaif, harbhajan and reduced them to nothing.... escaped by his gimmick-filled presentation to the BCCI was going to be honored by offering a post in NCA!!! i had lost hope in indian cricket when i heard that.
though i am not a personal fan of gavaskar, i applaud this stand of him. i am so tempted to think that bob simpson's take on chappel had to do with this stance of gavaskar.
anyway, as long as someone has started thinking from a perspective and objectively, things seem to be bright.

yes I am also not too great fan of Gavaskar but what he says makes sense to me... Pathan was acknowledeged as upcoming cricketer...and where is he now ,,,,,,
and apart fraom Dhoni, any new fresh face which we confidently can say that he will beat the crap out of opposition.....anyone........ NO
2 years is more than enough time to findout such talent. Did we find ...if no then the person(s) responsible should go...
gavaskar is right, chappel is responsible for india's downfall ,becuse he tactfully demolished the rythm of the team slowly and steadily in a planned manner.India should now start planning for the world cup now and a set team should be done in a couple of years time based on performance of the individual.

very well said Gaurav. Gavaskar was a very selfish man during his playing days, who carred about his own records like our Sachin Tendulkar. It is easy to blame the coach, what about all the paper tiger senior cricketers and their inflated past records... How ever bad the coach was, Sr Cricketers like Sachin, Ganguly, Dravid, Harbajan and Shewag should have led the team from the front. See, Ricky Ponting, Hayden, Muralitharan, Waas, Jayasurya, Kallis, Bond, Fleming, Styris are some example.
If there were anybody to blame on, it will be all the Senior cricketers, I cannot beleive not even one of them played a match saving innings like Ricky Ponting or Hayden. All this inspite of these guys earning 10 times more than Ricky and Hayden. Gavaskar please don't be a hypocrite, at this rate we will never fix a problem because WE DO NOT STILL AGREE where the problem lies... this is sad.

Very Well said Gaurav. And his stooges are the one who are blocking such a great reply. And Rediff is full crap because this guy moderator can not decide in few minutes and by the time he probably going to decide, the article will have no value.
Gavaskar as I remember is the one who destroyed many careers in his playing days. As most people will agree that Greg was much better player and captain than Gavaskar ever was.

Why people forget that the great Sunny Gavaskar was an influential member of the panel which swlwcted chappel as the coach.
Team India was good. Chappell came into the team only to bring confusion and make sure that cricket Austrila would win the cup. He has done work and left the team. well planned job Chappell.
