Thaz like an Indian Mr. Gavaskar. Hope to see India wins the next WC with an Indian coach. Gavaskar and Kapil can fill the positions of batting and bowling coaches for the Indian team. Inspite of paying a foriegn coach who never can indulge the feeling of indianism its beter to take the guidance of these master players who won the WC for India.
If one looks at the nearly two years spent in the preparation of our cricket team for the world cup, many would surely not disagree that there was hardly any effort made by those in charge to have "union of hearts and minds" in the team makeup.
Caught up by the "experiment virus", the coach, selectors, captain and board officials were busy destroying the confidence of our players, pitting them against one another, dropping and recalling and often demoralising one and all. The would-be-men-in-blue spent all their energies to survive the "experiment virus". By the time they got into the team they were all a spent force and when it was time to deliver at the World Cup they were no where in their elements - but simply "dull and flat".
The coach, the captain, selectors and men serving the game in administrative capacities destroyed the confidence and morale of the team much before the new selectors could come in. The good work Mr. Vengsarkar did in the end was at the most a "patch up" work and the results were not at all surprising.
At this juncture one does feel it would be a meaningful exercise to have a look at the main lines of our history of the sixteenth and the seventeenth centuries. When ambitious and daring men from the western world began to look at the subcontinent as a land of "hope" for their own fame, prosperity and their enchantment for the exotic East, they began to win over people from the subcontinent to their side through various innovative methods good and less good.
In those times they say brothers began to disown their own brothers and joined hands with the newcomers in exchange for some crumbs. There is immense historical documentation in the archives and libraries in Goa, Pondicherry, Egmore, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Lisbon, Madrid, Valladolid, London, The Hague, Amsterdam, Paris and Rome describing regions and persons who sold themselves, their people and their independence to the good westerners in the so called "boom centuries" of wealth accumulation by west from the lands overseas.
The Divide and Rule Policy caught our guys at every level unprepared just like the good old unsuspecting ancestors in the 16th and the 17th centuries.
Cricketers, writers reporting and commenting on cricketing matters and others connected with the running of cricket in our country could draw some lessons from history.

Gavaskar has the guts to call a spade a spade, when politics and a mute, spineless captain is at the helm.
Results are in front of everyone. India failed miserably. Dravid's captaincy and leadership are pathetic (boy, he can't even get his team together, what a baby!). Chappell is a lousy coach trying to save his own skin. Instead BCCI sucks up to Chappell as a consultant and retains a failed leader. Hats off to cricket politics! But this is no surprise in a country where politics has destroyed everything - most devastatingly, sports. And the fans also deserve it. Nowhere you will find such mindless criticism and lack of support for the players. One day they are Gods and the next they are being vilified.
Serves them right.

If Gavaskar really is so much concerned about the state of indian cricket, why doesn't he take mantle of coaching India and leading them to world cup victory. Its easier said than done.
Also Dravid is a good captain in making. Unlike Ganguly and Gavaskar he doesn't play dirty politics. Only thing is he does have some head high players in his team by virtue of their god fathers in the team. He needs to take some tough decisions and start from scratch

Dravid lacks leadership and man management qualities. He's a class palyer no doubt, but he won't be a shadow of that as a captain.
Ganguly is a very good leader. He supported his players and moulded India into a fighting and successful team. He probably has himself to blame for his downfall from captaincy, but one cannot neglect his contribution as player and especially as a captain. People, biased by their own views, forget Ganguly's contribution. In the 2003 world cup, Ganguly led from the front, scoring three centuries (and a top run getter).

ganguly should retire Ganguly had big role in defeat in mathch against Bangladesh. He gifted match t o bangaldesh deliberately playing negative cricket just to humiliate dravid and to take revenge against chappell ?? but he betrayed the whole team ganguly wasted more balls than runs he scored poor fielding and poor running wkt and unwilling to take singles cost more runs to team also created pressure on batsman on other side He did not bother to try and hold an easy catch during agarka bowling , Never tried to accelerate run rate He did not tried to hold simple catch during agarkar%u2019s bowling 60 runs in 130 balls how it can help a team cause?? Ganguly had one stage for having batted through nearly 11 overs to make a mere 7 runs. Yuvraj Scored 47 runs in 10 overs India Scored 191 in 50 overs Ganguly Scored 66 runs in 21 Rest of team scored 50 in 19 overs Against burmada Ganguly scored 89 in 114 balls wasted 25 balls that is around 4.6 runs per over... compare it to the indian teams average of 8.26 Ganguly was struggling while batting against burmuda, and got 3 lifes Ganguly 7 in 23 balls against SL Ganguly did not return with team but next day when arrived in kolkat airport media said he got a warm welcome He was not team uniform. He did not try to hold simple catch during agarka%u2019s bowling. His poor fielding, poor running btw wkt cost more runs to team than the runs he scored. During SL match, John Writh commentriator was telling that if Sl batsman want 2 runs they should push ball towards ganguly and screen was showing ganguly putting hands behind head staind yawning near boundary line. ganguly is main culprit for WC debacle. ganguly spend more time as per clause of his sponsers ganguly is main culprit for WC debacle. ganguly spend more time as per clause of his sponsers Ganguly success is b'cuz of dravid contribution in tests and sachin contribution in oids.. Not B'CUZ OF HIS LEADERSHIP OR AGRESSION GANGULY %u2018S SELFISH, OPPERTUNIST, CUNNING POLITICIAN AND PROMOTING GROUPISM AND NOT BATHER ED IF TEAM WINS OR NOT GANGULY IS MAIN CULPRIT IN DEBACLE OF WC HE SHOULD BE OUT OF IND TEAM FOR TESTS AND ODIS team went final in WC2003 bcuz sachin batted brilliently. he scored 33%of total runs and won MOS and best batsman. NOT B'CUZ OF GANGULY CAPTAINCY OR LEADERSHIP, srinath bowled well and dravid ketp wkts to accomodate one more batsman No player played negative cricket that team should loolse. But this time some players were not with team or captain by scoring 50 in almost every Innings at the cost of winnig chances of India. India''s loss against bangladesh was due to him. He created fear in our own batsmen by playing pathetically slow and then gave confidence to bangladeshi bowlers.
in 2004 team ind out of chapmions trophy in 1st round under the leadership of so called agressvie leader gangster ganguly. Team had humiliated defeat against kiwis(56 all out recored lowest score for team ind) aussies, Pakistan, wWI ganguly and his chelas like dhoni, bajji, zahir khan should be out team ganguly destroyed team spitrit by votmiting dressing room conflict in front of media after scoring a 100 durig zimb tour. He is promoting groupism, encouraging younger players to play petty politics, against team mates. Ganguly ugly politics made Sachin to leave captaincy down in order permanently betrayed by ganguly. dravid anchored success to captaincy of ganguly but ganguly betrayed dravid dalmiay supported ganguly for 5 yrs as godfather and ganguly betrayed dalmiay ganguly is selfish, opperitunits, politician criketer

Well you seem to have a problem with the only man who calls a spade a spade - Chappell. We've all got used to Gvaskar calling an axe a spade, if you know what i mean. How hard it is to see that Gavaskar is a biased man?

In this case, Gavaskar has just pointed out the obvious. If you think that India is more successful after Greg Chappell's term, you are welcome to that opinion. I just see that it has gone downhill. I'm not anti Chapell, but if you call success as dragging a top team into the pits, then yes, he has been successful. IMO, Chappell's contribution has been zero. I don't think Chappell will succeed as a coach anywhere. If you can't unite a team and get along with player, you can't go very far.
Gavaskar is the biggest loser in cricket. The arm chair critic that as always will sit on the sidelines but never contribute. Mr Gavaskar was emplyed as a batting consultant (all care no responsibility role) the last time Australia toured India in 2004 and defeated India. John Wright the then coach was not told of Gavaskar's appointment. Gavaskar did not have an impact as India lost the series. He continued his all care and no responsibility role with the ICC when they had the super series in Australia in 2005. The ICC team performed very poorly. Gavaskar had a good time. And this guy has the hide to criticise Chappell. He is now part of a BCCI committee to select a new coach for India. Good luck BCCI and India. As long as Gavaskar is involved with Indian cricket in any capacity, the game will go further back from where it stands at present. Further it's a joke when he criticises Chappell and the Australian team. Sour grapes mate. It's easy to sit and criticise when you don't have a meaningful role to play. Ireland beating Australia if Chappell is given the job of heading up the Australian cricket centre of excellence. I can confidently tell you that, India will go further back as long as Gavaskar is around. Get a life mate.

I fully agree with you friend. Gavaskar became Dalmiya's puppet becuse he wanted his son to play for Bengal and he still bats for Dalmiya and Bengal by backing Ganguly blindly and foolishly. If he has the cheeks to crticize chappel, then he should first criticize himself and Ganguly as Chappel was their choice. Gavaskar was part of the commitee that selected Chappel on Mr. Ganguly's reccomendation. So if there is logic is Chappel is to be belamed then both Ganguly and Gavaskar should also be penalised and Gavaskra should be associated with new coach selection commitee. He very convineintly avoided to criticize Tendulkar and other Indian batsmen but blamed Chappel straightaway. But any right thinking person will know Chappel was unbiased and a hard taskmaster which these tame chapaloos people like Ganguly did not like. They were used to be treated as Maharajas under the wings of Dalmiya. If Ganguly was not part of the team for the world cup and a few other selection changes as per Dravid and chappel, the results would ahve been dofferent. But thanks to so called critics like Gavaskar, we lost to Bangladesh but still these people have enough moral courage to single out Chappel for eevrything. Keep it up Gavaskars. You are the true patriots in true colors. Buck up. All the best. T

After long time gap (after Kapil) probably INDIA got a good bowler, Irfan Pathan. He had been damaged by Chappell-Dravid Evil combination.
This time team was almost same as 2003 WC. Even Ganguly said this time team is much better than what he had on 2003. That's due to good wicket keeper-batsman Dhoni.
Ganguly had a bad wicket keeper.
Still INDIA (runner of 2003 WC) lost in the first round under the greatest Captain of INDIA and World...
INDIA won 1983 WC without foreign coach. Why INDIA needs foreign coach, particularly EVIL Chappell ?
Moreover Mr. Gum put his gun on other's shoulder. Did he have guts to play an innings like Kapil Dev in any world cup?
He is Mr. Gum, he never thinks of his strike rate, rather his run average....

All media speculations. Discussion are eyewashing experience sachin and ganguly are main culprits for wc debacle. and there were huge public opinion against sachin. But strong mumbai lobby will never let down theirlocal hero. and vengasrakar wanted him to captain. resting ganguly and sachin is eyewashing exercise. And many ex cricketers, media cricket experts had not guts to spaeak against these 2 super starts. the lack of commiment , passion , poor body languge or groupism or petty politics played against captain and coach.. both ex captain are fighting for captaincy behind scens. so they have to prove dravid is not good captain . but dravid started well wining 18 odis in chasing and won test series in WI , histoirci test match win SA, and odi sereis in WI.Chappell report was right in pointingout these dressing room politics and some players undermine dravd's captaincy and not to led by skipper . But this did not bring any laurales to ex captains.they are looser b'cuz there is no guarantee that sachin ganguly will play next WC many younger players will now perform on field and if they go for dressing room politcs they will loose the place in team like agarkar, harbajan and gatting back into team. Pathan and kiaf both deserving playes for odi and good players are victims of this dirty politics
As per some news report tendulkar and ganguly had last laugh that they got rid of chappell and next terget is dravid Indian express poll 75% favoured dropping sachin and ganguly for odi series against BL 80% ppl approved bcci move to drop senior players TOI poll 65% voted in favouring the bcci decision to rest superstars while dravid's supports to retain him as captain increased even after ongoing dravid bashing articles.. 80% of cricket associanton (survey in ndtv) supporte dravid. ,. IBN CNN survey 86% ppl voted for dravid.. Sachin may be living legend but he is no more bigger than team or game 48% voters is voted dravid to be captain by big margin. www.cricketvotes.com
SL is playing superb cricket None of senior player /ex captain m envied mahila%u2019s his promotion as captain From the outset they gave unstinting support. they remained hungry to perform and did not rely on reputation or popular support to protect their places. SL
