Rahul Dravid as captain?
by Harsh Lahoty on Apr 21, 2007 03:44 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

There are reports that selectors felt Dravid was not comfortable with seniors. Dravid should be asked WHY. If Sachin & Saurav have been "rested" because of this the first thing to be done is to sack Dravid as he cannot carry the team with. What if he is not comfortable with other player latr on?
Vengsarkar says its a long season we needed to rest sachin & saurav and in BD we try yougsters. That means rahul will be rested in some matches later on? And are gambhir and mongia youngsters. Its nothing but a knee jerk reaction.
Both sachin & saurav must be happy.as we are expected to beat BD. If they do so there's nothing great and these players wil be seected on England tour as the team needs experience and they would have rested by then. But if they lose hell will break loose and the 5 wise men (??) will have no option but to select them.

The Board the captain and the captain's fans all are stinking and farting in joy.
The entire place is full of foul smell.

India will return loser from Bangla outing.
The great captain shall silently pass three more farts in joy again.

Only new player is Manoj.
He will not be given any chance to play and be dropped again.
The scheme is such that they will call Tendulkar agin but won't give chance to Ganguly.

Farting captain is farting all over the places with his farting fans who write long eulogies on this joker Rahul.

Bare his back and cane him with an oil soaked cane stick 10000 times.

How do you know that Dravid was not comfortable with seniors? It%u2019s the other way around.

The manager of the Indian team in WC has submitted a secret report to the BCCI which was not disclosed saying that its the seniors like Sachin, Saurav especially Saurav divided the team as pro chappel/dravid and anti dravid/chappel teams and the anti dravid/chappel team led by Saurav deliberately played badly so that the coach goes off and Captain will go and finally Saurav will be given the captaincy again.

Manager submitted a detailed report about wt ever Saurav did like not taking the advise of the dressing room to play fast against Bangladesh, SMSs sent by him to media about the team composition, and when Dravid told Saurav wt to do, Saurav replied back arrogantly saying I was the Indian team captain before and you need not tell anything and so on............

BCCI wants to teach a lesson to Saurav, but fearing a backslash by CAB (Sapura%u2019s state association) included Sachin also in the people who are removed, but has put a polite word rested. :):):)

This happened to lakshman also. The senior players especially Saurav had always has fear that Lakshman will be the next captaincy candidate as he was playing well in the test matches and has a lot of experience as a captain and Selectors once thought of removing Saurav as a test captain and make Lakshman test side captain as Saurav was struggling to get runs in the test matches. Saurav slowly tried to eliminate lakshman encouraging Yuvraj as the test batsman and fought hard to replace lakshman in the test side. This is the reason why lakshman was a never a constant members of the team despite of his good show whenever he gets chance.

Politics always played and plays and still will play in the selection of the players and the way cricket is played in India because the bosses of the BCCI were always either businessmen or politicians.

Use the resources
by binu joseph on Apr 21, 2007 03:19 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dravid should use his resources.Manoj tiwary is utility player he is a good legspinner also.He can bowl atleast 5 overs in one day cricket.Piyush Chwla is good hitter. He can bat at 6th or seventh in the ODI.Dhoni is not only a finisher.Let him bat at no 4 or 5.The main failure in WC2007 is Dravid did not handle dhoni's talent. If he came by 4th or 5th that would have been a diffrent story altogether in the current edition of WC.
Dravid never used suresh raina as an offspinner. He was a total cricketer.(See the bangladesh edition of U19 WC Scores)
He never used shewag's bowling skills also.
Anyway selectors ignored the last years top performed cricketer in the domestic season (with bat and ball) -That is Joginder Sharma.
India really needs utility players.(I am not using the work allrounders becasue i belive the real allrounders of world cricket were Kapil,Imran,Hadlee,Bothom).Instead of that they are going for medium pace bowlers they don't know how to hold the bat.

Just hardwork is not enough, one needs to have some talent for not just saving couple of runs, & running hard when other batsmen plays a shot, but need to have some character to face international bowling & ability to play strokes. Kaif does not have none that.

Stupids.. Did you forget Kaif's innings in England.. He is a better finisher than the so called giants.. Dont play religious cards here.. We shall appreciate Kaif's efforts. If everybody becomes stupendous as Kaif then team will win.. Look at Srilanka and Newzealand, you dont find big names, but they play hard.. You need good fielders in the team to win matches no-a-days.. Poor chaps.. Dirty minds..

WELL DONE
by Upadrasta PardhaSaradhi on Apr 21, 2007 03:04 PM  Permalink

Good That Sachin is dropped. It gives him sometime to think about his game and I am sure He will and should come back fresh and Strong.

Any individual need some rest and gap in his life especially if he is not doing well. It gives them some time to rethink on wt they were doing and wt mistakes they r doing.

But this doesnt mean that this is the end of the road in One Day Internationals for stars like Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly. There is no doubting the fact that the two have been God's gifts to Indian cricket, but if the time has come to make way for youngsters, so be it.

Tendulkar has been the steadying factor in the team over the years while Ganguly has added zest and aggression. But these factors are no more synonymous with them and one feels sad to see them jostling for places in the team. Retiring gracefully and ahead of time has never been a hallmark of Indian greats and they are likely to be no different in this respect.

To go with them for the World Cup was a choice that was neither a difficult one to make nor a wrong one. There were no brilliant batsmen waiting in the wings and it was safer to go with tried and tested ones. That India failed so miserably is another matter, but it would have been time to plan for the future anyway.

Tendulkar's intentions should never be doubted and how he has dealt with pressure and difficult times. Not surprisingly, there were any number of people writing in that the great batsman was no longer great and that he had become selfish over the years. Tendulkar is indeed a shadow of himself but never in my piece did I extol his greatness or his present worth, rather just put forth his simplicity and focus on the game, which have been unmatched. The man ate, drank and lived cricket over the years and his contribution can't be forgotten.

The two major aspects that will always be talked of in negative terms even years after Tendulkar retires will be his failure to produce an all-time great knock and the inability to perform regularly in crunch situations. But that would have been so irrespective of a better showing in the Caribbean this time round, just as the fallacies of Indian cricket over the years would have remained so even if India had beaten Bangladesh.

As for Ganguly, if he is dropped from ODIs, it will also be difficult for him to hang on to a Test berth. He was never a good Test batsmen and will be in the near future. His weakness against a new ball and raising ball was always a open secret, even for a medium pace bowler like Macmillan who enjoys bouncing Ganguly. :)

tendulkar & ganguly rested for bangla odi's
by biswanath roy on Apr 21, 2007 02:52 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

if bcci wanted to send a young side to bangladesh for both odi's & tests, then they have failed to do so as apart from tewary none of the named players are young or new.if ganguly & sachin can be rested why not rest kumble& laxman who are even more older.seems to be that sachin & saurav have been punished for their differences with dravid.this was the best chance to induct fresh blood into the team, which cannot be done on tours to australia or s.africa. b.n.roy,nagpur

Send them to Switzerland

Since summer is very severe in India now, let BCCI bear all the expenses and send both Sachin and Saurov for two months rest and sight seeing in Switzerland and other parts of Europe as they had worked so hard in World Cup for early exit !

That will be the greatest gesture BCCI would be showing to the legends !!!

I dont know what my friend Raman wants to say? My God, such bitterness""

That Sachin or Saurav have been rested for the tour to Bangladesh for the one dayers is fine. But to say that people would be satisfied only if they were to be hanged by the nearest pole is carrying things too far.

Let sanity prevail. Raman and his ilk would be satisfied only if the " legends" were cut down to size, cases filed against them, publicly flogged and what have you.

Change of Dravid's batting..........
by bhangra bole on Apr 21, 2007 02:26 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dravid's batting was so slow when he was playing under Ganguly but still Ganguly did not

sack (rested?) him.

But when Dravid is captain himself then he is not slow batsman.

That means Dravid knowingly played slow under

Ganguly's captainship to ruin Ganguly's captainship.

by evelyn abraham on Apr 21, 2007 05:12 PM  Permalink
That is the most unfair statement ever made..I will show u statistics.. this is for test matches Also, Dravid is the current world record holder for the highest percentage(%) contribution of runs scored in matches won under a single captain, where the captain has won more than 20 Tests. [23] In the 21 Test matches India won under Sourav Ganguly's leadership, Dravid played his part in every single one of those wins, scoring at a record average of 102.84 and piling up an astonishing 2571 runs, with nine hundreds - three of them double-centuries - and ten fifties in 32 innings. He contributed nearly 23% of the total runs scored by India those 21 matches, which is almost one run out of every four runs the team scored.

For odi's see the WC 2003 and u will know..It actually looks like Ganguly is playing very slowly..Did u c his performance in this WC..I thought i was watching a test match..
