Crooked Greg alongwith with spineless, incompetent Dravid and political party of BCCI ( & Rascal More) has ruined not only Pathan & good team which they inherited from Ganguly but has also destroyed the morality & spirit of ther team. How a such incompetent Captain ,resposible for disgraceful defeats not only in WC but also the champions trophy,Malesiyan series, ODI series in WI & South Africa is retained.
Political party of BCCI is the worst. They have finished Pathan's Career ,who gave India so many victories.

Is Anyone interested ??
by Rohit Dasan Maroli on Apr 21, 2007 11:16 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

A series against Bangladesh.........one dayers and tests.......No Sachin........No Ganguly.......Two of the greatest one day players the game has ever seen.....and the best two one day batsmen India has ever produced....are " Rested " it seems....
So guys now they expect us to watch the boring Rahul Dravid.....and mediocre players like Sehwag...who is just a media hyped cricketer...with no achivements so as to hype about!....neways a player with an average of 29 in 180 matches is mediocre in my books!!!! no matter what people or media say!...
Its good that young players like Manoj tiwary are being given chance....but at the risk of sounding cynical....i would like to remind that difference between our ranji and international cricket is too high!! Thats why Players like vikram rathore who had been kings in ranji with averages of 50 never suceeded in international level!!....but lets see and hope Tiwari does well!!...
And yea i cant end this views of mine without paying tribute to the best batsman i have seen in my lifetime and one of the greatest batsman to have ever walked a cricket field......Good Bye...BRIAN CHARLES LARA........U were the best of ur generation and indian fans are privelaged that they were in the same life time as you.....!!!

Hi Guys,

I am a very recent reader of rediff comments, though used to browse rediff regularly, but never went into the comments. Whereas now after going through these comments for about 10-15 days, I feel this is the best place to provide your opinions for a current subject/topic.

Now coming to the team selection, first thought that comes to mind is that cricket playing nations in Asia (india/pak etc) are going the hockey way and one day we will be the 1st from last as in Hockey Today.

Until about 30-40 years (not the exact period) back we were the champions in Hockey be it either World Cup or Olympics the top spots were shared by either India or Pakistan, then came the stage where the game was totally taken over by the whites (Europeans) who changed the rules and the whole of playing methods which best suited them and we were left behind cause we were unable to keep pace with the developments due to various reasons, govt apathy, player attitudes, corporate world, all played one or the other role in the debacle of Hockey.

In the current scenario the attitude being displayed by our so called senior and most experienced players and the people in the selection committee and also the corporate world (they are interested only in selling their products and they do not have any patriotic angle involved) are the signs for the beginning of the great melt down of Indian Cricket

Drastic changes like dropping players, getting in new people, banning endorsements are not all going to help Cricket as whole, need of the hour is to inculcate a sense of responsibility, develop positive attitude in the players that is the only thing that is going to help revive Indian cricket from its current state of slump.

We have world best 1, 2 & 3 batsmen in our team (Sachin, Sourav & Rahul) still our team has poor winning record only because the egoistic attitude among these...I still believe these three batsmen are the need of the hour for Indian cricket but without any ego issues. I through rediff website request on behalf of whole India to settle all these issues and play for the pride of the country. They have all winning abilities in them and whole India believes in them....We want to see the most successful opening pair give the good start and the best no. 3 batsman (Rahul) take the innings to put solid total in front of the oponents. WE WANT THESE THREE PLAYERS PLAYING FOR THE COUNTRY TILL THE NEXT WORLD CUP IRRESPECT WHOEVER IS THE CAPTAIN.

What a Team ????????////
by ANAND SHARMA on Apr 21, 2007 11:16 AM  Permalink

i would just like to suggest the board that they hav selected an ordinary team with a loose captain who cant decision at crucial moments .
if they want to change the entire team they can hav eliminated Rahul Dravid from the sqad whose affaction towards Sehwag takes india away from world cup ? There r lot more other options better thet what they hav selected ,If Dinesh Mongia has been selected as option for Legspineer its all foolish decision as statements given by Niranjan Shal,i dont know why they give such abnormal and foolish statements in the media ....First of all these selection Commitee should be Renewed and hard decisions has to b taken then only Team India Can Hav better Future

BCCI HAS SELECTED A VERY VERY YOUNG TEAM FOR THE TOUR.KUDOS TO BCCI.SACHIN,SOURAV,RAHUL,SEHWAG ARE VERY YOUG.
BCCI'S SELECTION POLICY MEANS THAT RAINA,KAIF,PATHAN & BADRINATH ARE VERY OLD PLAYERS.

missed chance
by sunilkumar mishra on Apr 21, 2007 11:09 AM  Permalink

Once again BCCI has missed golden chance by picking up a team full of tested rejectees which does not augur very well for the future of Indian Cricket if they r really serious, it appears that this so called omissions and commissions are only eye washes for the public and in a way clever strategy for backdoor entries for the same old guards not found favours with and "rested" for the time being. Where r the Ishants, Ranadevs,Kaifs,Rainas, ? U have really missed a great chance to build a team for tomorrow. The press meet by BCCI staff including Dillip and Niranjan made a mockery of of themsleves and the body.

WHY IS SEHWAG,SACHIN & MONGIA ARE GIVEN SO MANY CHANCES. THEY ARE NOT AT ALL FIT FOR SELECTION.
INSTEAD, RAINA,KAIF(NATWEST HERO),PATHAN & BADRINATH CAN BE GIVEN SOME CHANCES TO ESTABLISH THEMSELVES.
WHETHER BCCI IS PLAYING POLITICS WITH SELECTION ISSUES!! UTTAR PRADESH PLAYERS LIKE RAINA, KAIF ARE TOTALLY IGNORED.THERE IS REGIONAL BIAS IN SELECTION PROCEDURE.
FIRST OF ALL, THE PRESIDENT OF INDIA SHUD SACK THE GOVERNING BODY OF BCCI & CHAIRMAN OF SELECTORS - DILIP VENGSARKAR.
