RE:Pride goeth before a fall - well done Ireland

ganesh, agreed ireland did a good job.truth about bangladesh is that vs india as well as south africa, the pitch palyed a big role.had dravid not batted first india would have definately thrashes our neighbours. looks like india's conquerers have been cut down to size...
Finally, it was the luck of the Irish! The fact that they defeated Bangladesh was a blessing in disguise and good for cricket. It all proves for humility in life. Any success should be appreciated and not gloated with, and the Irish squad deserves all the laurels and kudos. Well done Ireland.

Agree with you Vijay. People just want to use some well known phrases so they make up sentences like that.. :)
I don't care if Tendulkar plays for the next 20 years, but at least stop comparing him to Don Bradman or Lara. Let him have a test average of 100 or a record test score of 400 before we elevate his status again. Tendulkar is a dhobi-ka-kutta - he has neither the best records of the game nor the spirit to win key games like Miandad did for Pakistan.
Incidentally, I was reading an interview with Don Bradman from a few years ago, this is what he has to say on playing for the country and creating records. -------------------------------------------- DB: Oh well, I was terribly proud of that of course. Everybody's got to be proud to represent their country, doesn't matter whether it's cricket or football, whatever it may be, you must be proud of it. Because it's vastly more important to play for your country, than to play for yourself. RM: Was it the highlight of your life? DB: Oh yes, definitely the highlight, because the pinnacle of my ambition was to play for Australia. And that was it. To wear the green blazer. RM: Breaking records..did they matter? DB: No, no..they were entirely incidental, they came by accident.

you forget that bradman himself said watching tendulkar reminded him of himself. are you asking bradman ~up in heaven~ to retract? tendulkar is being made one of the scapegoats, but he will sparkle soon and near continually-to my mind- he can play for easily the next few years; well ahead of the 2011 WC. sunny (who was far less fit) played till he was 38...and please dont come up with rubbish that his class and skills are on the wane...

BCCI is a gutless and characterless body. It is not being held in high esteem by either the players or others. Just remember how Ponting teased and made fun of Pawar. It has no image of transperancy. With the arrival of a politician at it helm of affairs things are becoming more obscure and hypocrisy is evident. These politicians have no guts at all. They can not take any harsh decisions but ride on the wave of public sentiments and emotions. Dalmiya, whatever be the allegations against him, was the last good thing that happened to BCCI.
This is the worst world cup in history and will remain for another 12 years as I am confident that in 2011 India & Co will organize it much better and nothing need to be said about the organizing efficiency of Aussie / NZ. The format is the worst ICC can ever think of. Two bad days (India Vs Bangladesh & Pakistan Vs Ireland) robbed the world cup super 8 of its quality and charm. I know that India and Pakistan were not good enough to win the cup, but I am sure they are much better than Bangladesh, Ireland, WI & England who are there in Super 8. Less said about South Africa better, who are actually a glorified version of India (Home tigers)

No. Whatever the format of the WC, India loosing to bangladesh cannot be forgiven. they took it too casually.. success and money have gone to their heads..
They have done a great dis-service to the nation. the format of matches cannot be blamed for this at all..

Everything went against dravid in this tournament. 1. bad team selection 2. Mediocre bowlers, overhyped batsmen! He has been overall very unlucky. Few lbw decisions in the match against SL were really unfortunate. Overall his captaincy isnt very good.

Very well said....Indian Cricket team worse than Bangladesh and Ireland....What else can we expect....We hardly win any medals in any international competitions, it was only cricket whish used to make us feel a little bit better about our sports teams..Now even that's gone....Our teams Wash out in Olynpics, and our team Washed out in Cricket world cup.......Great, 1 billion people, and yet we can't find 16 good player....How does that work out!!!
Where is Bashar? He was bragging too much and had the foot coming to his mouth. He commented about two giants of the game, India and Pakistan loosely and the defeats followed are a forerunner of further defeats to his team.
