Lara and Sachin
by Indian Mallu on Apr 12, 2007 01:10 AM  Permalink

I think lara is better batsman because of elegance in batting and dominance against quality bowling and the kind of match winning innings he played in the tests. When sachin and lara are batting in full form , i would rather prefer to watch lara for the elegance in his batting. But in all other aspects of a cricketer, i support sachin ( unlike the post here) . be it team spirit, endorsments ,playing for records, all.!!

ex; Lara had problem with team members .
lara had fight with WI board for compensation.
He extended the innings declaration for his world record innings.

BCCI is a pvt company
by animesh kumar on Apr 12, 2007 12:55 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

and Sachin and others are pvt-club's players. They don't play for the nation. They play for their company. The company misuses nationalism and national-spirit to make billions of rupees.

Tell me how many of you will watch the match of a pvt company of India with Australia? No one. So the easy way out is to call the pvt-company's team as Indian team.

BCCI with its nexus of politicians and bureaucrats has monopolized cricket in India. That's why you don't see talent (but only money) coming out.

whole point is that Sachin does not plays for India or for me; he plays for BCCI, the club and fakes that he is playing for India.

And I suppose that is Sachin's fault. Right, he should have protested by not participating in a "private" organization and devoted his life to creating a truly "national" team. Is that what you imply?

Salute the hero
by R Srinivasan on Apr 12, 2007 12:53 AM  Permalink

Hats off to Lara. For the entertainment he has provided all these days. He is a cricketing legend and by far the greatest batsmen of all times. His spectacular cover drives and fierce pulls will always be remembered. He, by far, stands out tall from most of the present day batsmen in greatness, style and simplicity. Hats Off Lara. We will miss you

sachin retirement
by Indian Mallu on Apr 12, 2007 12:42 AM  Permalink

why evry one wants sachin to retire ? I am happy if he replaced by better player, who can ensure that sachin wont take his place after his overseas series agnst aus and england while sachin plays domestic cric . Retirement is his personal choice. Selecters can always replace him with a better player.

Lara is my hero!
by Sathish P on Apr 12, 2007 12:24 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This is how a great sportsman behaves. Lara is still capable of playing but he is retiring, this is what i call "playing for nation not for self".
What a wise decision. Lara will always be great in every cricket fan's mind in this world. Way to go man...very well done.

I hope some of our indian so called stars are wise like this.

Sachin would play until his back falls down riding on his past and loses all his greatness.

Sachin should read a few pages from Lara's book and make way for youngsters...

I would say lara is foolish to retire...
he is still the best batsman in west indies team...

Look at jayasurya for an example
Are you that dumb??

Banghu, what are you talking about man? Did you understand what i am saying?

Lara is foolish to retire? I suppose you know better than Lara about himself ha? wowww

I never said he is not doing good, i suggested that he is taking the hit for best interest of his team, which is what a great sportsman would do.

You say they all should take Jayasurya's age is baseline for retirement? Wowww...you are a smart man.

No.. i would you are smart at first lace to put my words in wrong direction...

Who said All??

You said.. (I suppose you know better than Lara about himself ha) So in a way do you all know sachin better then he does himself...??

Were you all playing for him when he gave 52 man of the match performances for india(more then anybody in ODI) were you all playing for him when he scored 76 centuries and above 25,000 runs..

No , none of you were.. so you all have no right to say he should retire....

All those you mentioned about Sachin, they are all for himself and not for the country. 52 man of the matches in his 17 years, and he got almost as many centuries to his name...so he surely playing for himself rather than for country.

Like i always say...Sachin WAS a great player. Period.
But look at last few years and you can clearly see that he is not up for long run in the team. So time to retire.

No riding on the past man...

sachin better than lara
by goldie on Apr 12, 2007 12:00 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I had seen more of sachin's play than lara's & I hope most of the Indians too. Lara had played for his records records & records. where as sachin had played & records were made. sachin has his shares of injuries, even then he had made a commandable comeback. Lara had also gone through a lean career & even today he is not at all in his good form. the way the whole country has gone against Sachin it seems he is solely reponsible for the defeat in WC.Though S.Africa
has not made an exit from WC but they were too defeated by Bangladesh(don't give a shit saying the match was fixed) how many of their players are retiring?????????? Y u PPl r after sachin??????????????????,

RE:sachin better than lara
by Sathish P on Apr 12, 2007 12:34 AM  Permalink
Everything that you said is infact opposite. Sachin played for records, not Lara. Sachin is infact still looking for records while Lara is retiring. Lara played his game and records were made, Sachin is just opposite. To prove that, look at Sachin's run rate when he is close to 90 to until he makes 100 - it clearly demonstrates that he is after his records.
Remember when dravid declared when Sachin was 2 runs away from 200? Sachin was wasting time in pursuit of his 200 and left team's interests behind.

Lara is taking teams loss as his moral responsibility and retiring, what is Sachin doing when he failed in WC? He got his coach fired(i mean get him to leave the job)!

Another thing, it's never about losing just to Bangladesh, it's about never collecting yourself and fighting. That never happened with indian team.

One last thing, if Sachin is not self centered then he would actually break a lot more records and would be greatest cricketer(he was greatest) for long time, and make indian cricket one of the top on the way.
Ever since he came back from back surgery he is not old sachin.
Old Sachin is my favorite, Sachin2 is not.

Bhangu...you are illogical. I don't support him because he is my favorite...i will support him when he deserves.
I cherish him for his greatest service to indian team. But it's time to move on and make way for younger players.

Another thing, if he retires now he will forever be great in our minds. If he tries to stay on when he is failing then he would become so low...

Let's just not support for the sake of supporting him.

P.S: I am bigger fan of indian cricket team than Sachin. So winning india is my priority than Sachin playing forever.

are u telling thaty sachin did not play for records?? You are kidding man. Time and again we have seen sachin reaching his 90's and then slowing down the scoring rate just to reach his century. He was just behind the records more than winning for the country...

Tell me one player who does not do that...

Take an example of kevin pieterson (World's best batsman at the moment)
what kind of innings he played against australia...

He slowed down miserably...

Still English commentators were all praise for him.. because he scored 100 runs ... thats what matters

When you all blame sachin, it means you have high expectations from him..

everyone wants him to be like he used to be.....

no matter what people say, but people like me.. who followed cricket because of sachin for last 15 years can never say anything bad against the legend...

It's a shame when people try to make decision about him.. nobody has right to decide what he thinks aboout his retirement.. he has every right to play for as long as he want too...

Untill india produces another sachin.. which i think will not happen anytime soon... His supporters like me still watch this game because of him... At the end of day its just a game... Dont bring patriotism into this.....

Sachin was the top scorer in 1996 and 2003 world cup ( fact, thats why india reached the semi final and finals ) . he single handedly made sure pakistan was beaten in 2003 world cup..
shame on you all questioning his attitude.. when he has been serving his nation for 17 years..
salute the greatest hero of our nation..

Players like Lara and Sachin are born once in thousand years. Both have all cricketing shots and can dominate any kind of bowling. Lara is retiring from one day game. It will be hard to replace him with younger player. They both are very good friends too, so please don't insult Sachin, Lara will feel bad.
