Best Players doen't mean best team
by on Apr 12, 2007 07:22 PM  Permalink

Both Lara & Sachin are considered best players of the present era but unfortunately none of them could make their teams world champions. The moral of the story is that both the teams have exclusively depended on these 2 players and have suffered whereas Australia who has not been dominated by any one player is world champion since last 2 decades. So don't make a player a super hero and rely more on team work.

LARA IS BEST PLAYER BUT.....
by ramakanth k on Apr 12, 2007 12:58 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

lara is a one the best players but bad leaders.leader never feel he belongs to separate class and above others. and lara is having lot of bias towards trinidadnians. like bravo, pollard what these guys delivered . when u r a captain u should have aim to win with the team u have been given but not to have your own team

Mr. Ramakanth,

Here ur wrong...if ur talking abt performance a lot was expected from Gayle, Chanderpaul, they did nothing either...it was the entire team that was not performing and not jus specific people...Agreed that Bravo, pollard didnt perform but so didnt the others even after giving them an oppurtunity too many...He tried to get the best out of everyone but they all failed to response...He can't do it all alone can he...

LARA THE GREATEST EVER!!!!
by mahesh s on Apr 12, 2007 12:56 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Pretty sad that a great player had to retire like this,,,,there has never been a greater test player than him ever,,,he was truly a match winner and the most memorable innings will be his unbeaten 153 against Aussies in the '99 season that took westindies to an unbelievable victory,,,,, but unfortunately he was playing in a depleted and a beleagured team whose agonizing losses overshadowed most of his glorious performances that bewitched the cricketing world,,,,
Truly he was a CLASS APART,,,the greatest ever,,
FAREWELL TO THE LEGEND CALLED LARA,,,

For me Lara wil be the greatest batsman after Sir Don. I will rate him way ahead of Sachin or Ponting just because he was the only batsman in the entire West Indies team. Rest were just to fill the numbers. Lara we will miss you.

Sad Moment
by angelo rodrigues on Apr 12, 2007 12:40 PM  Permalink

This is indeed a sad moment as Lara was truly one of the gr8s too bad he didnt have a team like the NZ or even Sri Lanks or else they wud have dominated the game. He is a world class player and its a pity that we won't get a chance to see him perform again.

You tell Sachin and Sewag and DADA and Harbajan and other senior players. Honest is the best policy.

Lara my hero..
by srivatsa yb on Apr 12, 2007 11:21 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I have waited and waited many nights just for him to come to the crease...every night has been a privilege ....does not matter if he scores a duck or one of his magnificent centuries...he always entertains..its always been a spectacle ...

At the end of the day cricket is just a sport that ppl watch to entertain themselves...the west indies for me have always been the most entertaining...u don't know what to expect...
the aussies, the kiwis, the springboks all these teams are clinical and boring...
Lara has epitomized the way cricket has to be played...the elegance...the mastery of spin...the hook...the dance on the wicket has left me and billions mesmerized..

We all praise sachin...i know he is a great great batsmen...but deep in our heart we all know that sachin is nowhere when compared to lara...any man who knows cricket well would agree that lara is just sublimely the greatest..

tell me which cricketer has the nerve to smash 3 sixes and 3 fours in the penultimate over of the day with 8 wickets down and 24 runs to avoid the follow on(vs. south Africa to Peterson's bowling,he came down the track 5 times) that's the excitement in cricket i love...

but i know he will play in tests, the real cricket...i hope he plays for a long time because i know he is still much better then the sachins, yuvrajs, pontings, youhanas of the world..

Thank you Brian...for making me happy...thanks for all those cover drives...for the 153* vs. Australia with Walsh at the other end....for every thing...
u will always be the greatest for me...
Hail the KING BRIAN CHARLES LARA

Dravid and sachin shameless
by sameer shaikh on Apr 12, 2007 11:14 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Did anyone read the midday newspaper yesterday? Lara appologised to whole country and said I am sorry for our exit from world cup.... He said sorry to whole country and fans for dissapointing them.. Same thing did by Inzamam and he appologised whole nation.... read in all newspaper. The only captain who did not appologise was Rahul Dravid.., He never said sorry.. Instead of saying sorry, he said he is worried about players security... Fought with BCCI for advertisement quota and fight for increase in advertisement cap..... Neither he stepped down after India's worst defeat... At least some shame..... I hate living in India, because it is full of these people...

Agree with you partially Sameer. Maybe Dravid should have apologized but he still is disappointed with India's failure in the WC. Some people are more vociferous with their aologies, Dravid is more of an introvert.

all who say Dravid is a good captan.. plz think. whenever we played outside continent we lost badly. even in mini world cup we cameout similarly like worldcup. then whats the point in having Dravid as captain and other non performers in the team.

Prasana, I am not blaming you or India. I only said, I hate politics in India. Look at dravid now, he is fighting for increase in advertisement cap. Even chappel felt little shame and stepped down and look at Dhoni, Tendulkar and Dravid... There is a limit to shamelines.

Madras regiment, you are saying I am a pakistani and living in India. First let me tell you I am Indian and love my country.. just hate people like dravid;s, tendulkar's, pawars I love Ganguly more than Pathan or Zaheer Khan. I am a die hard fan of Ganguly and best moment was when ganguly was captain . At least he brought India to world cup final

But see dravid now, he is fighting for advertisement caps.. never he said sorry. always was puppet of chappel. Then niranjah shas saying dravid is a astulute captain and fine captain. All over the season he has been backing up non performers like Sehwag and tendulkar.... If they can remove Gaanguly then whey not sehwag and Tendulkar.... Pawar himself is a joke...

At least Pakistan cricket board disolved and everyone resigned... because they have some shame.... these money mongers BCCI will never feel shame... because they are there only to make money... now tell who is more shameless BCCI

Buddy - Sachin is not a matured person. He will play 2020 world cup and his aim is to play 50 matches against Bangalsedh and baramuda so that he will raise his runs like anything. He is not a match winner he is a crush to our nation.
