We must get Pataudi. What if no ODIs were played in his days? He with one eye is far far better tban the current players with two eyes who suddenly become totally blind when they bat.
For all you people who want Dravid's head are forgetting Dravid's contribution to the Indian cricket. For most of victories which India have achieved, you have to agree that there was Dravid's performance somewhere in the middle because of which India had won. An easy example would be Dravid's 180 odd runs against Australia test in Calcutta. How many people remember Dravid's 180 agint VVS Laxman's 270. Just like this there are so many matches where Dravid's contribution has been undermined. I agree that Dravid as captain has not done well this year, but how many people remember that the same team under Dravid's captaincy has lead to the world record consequetive wins which India has achieved a year ago. A leader can only show the direction to his subordinates, it is for the people to follow the leader. As for as the World Cup goes, there are a number of reason's for India's debacle at the World cup.
1. The same aging team: How different is our Indian team compared to the team which we had in the last world cup 4 years ago, not much different, the team members have only gotten more older. In such a situation how can a team which is having the same squad as in the last world cup win matches. The main reason for this being our selections committee's inability to take strong decisions. Look at Saurav Ganguly's example how strong and determined he is today after he was sacked out of the team more than a year ago. We need a simillar attitude towards other players also.
2. The Indian cricket system: I very much agree with what Chappell has said about Indian cricket."You cannot expect to produce a team like Australia if you want to run the system the Zimbabwe way".
3. We definately need new players in the team, you cannot keep a player because of his reputation. Dravid as a captain was wrong in favouring Sehwag. Sehwag has been out of form from God knows when. If it were an Australian team more than half of the present team would have been out of the team cooling their heels at home, but no we chose to stick with GREAT NAMES instead of performance which is a cardinal sin, As Swami Vivekananda once said "The means are much more important than the end result". With the means unjust or incorrect one is bound to fail sooner or later and thats exactly what has happened with our cricket team.

Man, Dravid has achieved the record of most no of consequetive wins only in the Indian Soil or in the Indian Sub continent only. But,look at Ganguly's captaincy... Under him, India won matches in foreign soils... I do admit that Dravid is a good batsman, but not a good captain... And remember, in the last world cup, Ganguly had almost the same team, but most of the players were inexperienced. But, he knew how to utilize each player which Dravid does not know...

I strongly believe that BCCI should restict the number of ODI's to 30/year and test to 12/year. This will definately help the team. They are playing Cricket like daily job. ODI's have become just like another day at work.

In Dravid captainship India will lose too against Namibia, Zim, Ireland, Canada, Scottland etc
This is a dubious decision by BCCI to retain Dravid as the Captain.I am sure that he along with Chappel is responsible for the disastrous performance in the WC. He does not have the qualifications of a natural leader. They (Dravid and Chappel) didn't take the world cup seriously. Remember just two months before the world cup, Dravid was batting in the opening slot when we were having 4 openers in the team. What was the purpose of that? These silly things destroyed the balance of the team. Also, one thing I am pointing is that, in the last world cup Sachin was the opener and based on the foundation he laid, India stormed in to the final ( And he was the top scorer in that edition). It was a foolish decision to put him in the middle order in this series to strengthen the middle order. I don't think any team will do such foolishness. Can u think, the Australians will put Hayden at 4th to strengthen the middle order or put Ponting to open the innings in such a Big series? Only a foolish captain and coach can do that. Sachin is a natural opener and let him open the innings. Also, the position of Dhoni... He is getting only a few balls to bat now a days. Remember when he was promoted in the batting order, he has scored more than 40 in most of the matches and two massive hundreds. Nowadays, after Dravid became the captain, Dhoni is not getting such opportunities. And they were promoting Pathan in the batting order. Now see the situation of Pathan after over experimenting.
So, my opinion is Dravid should leave the captaincy for the good of Indian Team.

sachin is legendary cricketer and great batsman But nobody is bigger than game or team. Being VC he failed with bat . ganguly and sachin have support of other playes and both had success to kick out chappell out of ind dressing room. but cric fans do not require chappell's report for the failure of WC debacle. the early exit of team from WC is b'czu of some players deliberately played the negative cricket and gifted match to bangadesh and SL .chappelll tried push the senior players from comfort zone and treated every body alike and equalthe body language, negative cricket played by some senior players is proof that they did not support dravid as captain. Even knowing all these players are not with him and ganguly is fighting from backstage for captaincy, and vengsarkar, sharad pawar, ravishastri all are with sachin dravid accepted the captaincy. also he should be aware one more defeat means it may be end of his odi career. Dravid gave 100% team when he was playing under sachin , ganguly . He did not promote gropism or never betrayed his teammates. He trusted that seniors like ganguly sachin bajii will support him. Sachin bated brilliently in Last WC sachin scored 37% and main reason to ind won match against pakistan and entered smeis and fianl??But this WC he was VC complete failure. Who is responsible?? Player or coach or captain?? Ganguly had big role in defeat in mathch against Bangladesh. ya you send your opening main batsman to play at no6 and say he donot win matches for us he failed.... he has been playing at top spot facing the opening bowlers and he should have been given the top spot may be with ganguly or uthappa.... why harbhajan was played infront of kumble againts lanka.... i will tell u why because.... harbhajan dravid ko blowj*b deta hai... sehwag ki biwi se dravid ka affair hai aur agarkar dravid ke ghar ki free main safai karta hai isilye use sreesanth ki jagah pe khilayagya.... aur suman ka kisse najayaz rishta hai dravid ya Mrs dravid

Well said Suman..Dravid can play only his wicket not for rest of 10 wickets..As a captain he did good job while india fielding and bowling.We failed only because of poor batting..All has to think how to improve that instead of blamming each other

Well said Rajesh, Dravid may be a good batsman, but he is not worth to be a captain, I think the captaincy should be handed over to Ganguly or Sachin, One of the main blunders, Dravid and Greg committed big mistake by not sending sachind for opening the innings

Look at other captains. They remain active till the last ball is bowled. Look at our captain. Even before the first ball, he gives up and disappointment is written large on his face.
Dravid has proved his ability as a captain by 1> Helping India come out of worldcup in first round. 2> Helping the team to win matches from losing situation.(i.e, against bermuda). 3> Aggresive attitude as captain.(once again against bermuda) 4> totally unbiased.(except favoring sehwag and karnataka player(venkatesh prasad))

Its not the number which matter,but the way he approaches the game. I dont mind India losing games even againgst Bangladesh, but what matters is how we lost. There should be some fire and fight in the losing games also. It is nowhere to be seen...

if the senior players are going against team and captain u should blame the senior players. A horse can forced to make drink water but sallowing and vomiting act done by horse. If some senior players deliberately play negative cricket and gifted match to SL and bangadesh what captain can do for it?? in team ind all senior players thinks they are leaders, and not to led by anybody.. the body language, fieldin, the way some batsmen got out by playing silly shots, lack of commitment are prove that some players had big role in india's defeat. Had the captain and coach told players not to hold catches, bowlers to give extra runs, not to take singles and accelearate run rate, Poor running bet wkt??? SL and Bangldesh won match b'cuz they played as unit and fight with every ball be it batting, fielding, or bowling?? Ind cric fans do not need the chappel or jagdal's report. If the players are not ready to support team cause it is not captain but all senior players should be dropped.

Beleaguered Indian captain Rahul Dravid is under pressure from the senior players who are operating like a %u2018mafia%u2019, according to a private TV channel.
Quoting unnamed sources, the TV channel said the senior players in the team were operating like a %u2018mafia%u2019 and coach Greg Chappell had expressed his anger with the player's %u2018mafia%u2019.
The sources were quoted as saying that the senior players "hammer and abuse" juniors and don't give them a "chance".
They said that Chappell was not averse to staying on as the coach provided the same sets of players were not retained.
The growing rift between some players in the team has been widely reported in a section of the media in the recent past. After India's disastrous first round exit from the World Cup last month, there have been several reports of the players being divided into camps and not acting like a team. Quic k decisions are needed since India are due to visit Bangladesh in May for two Tests and three one-dayers, a tour that has assumed greater significance since Bangladesh's stunning win over the Indians at the World Cup. A recent CNN-IBN television poll of 60 former and current first-class cricketers showed that a majority wanted Chappell and Dravid to continue, but hoped Tendulkar will quit one-day cricket to concentrate on Tests. Chappell secured 48 percent of the votes, followed by former India star Mohinder Amarnath with 30 percent. Renowned Australian coaches John Buchanan and Dav Whatmore managed just two percent votes each. Dravid was favoured as captain by 86 percent of the cricketers, but 56 percent of those polled wanted Tendulkar to play only Test cricket, while 33 percent felt he should quit the game altogether. Meanwhile, officials will continue to milk the cash cow, irrespective of the team's performance. India are scheduled to play 15 Tests and a minimum of 40 one-dayers at home and abroad over the next 12 months, besides the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa in September

Winning or defeat in matches depends on performance of XI players irrespective of captain, coach, pitch, stretagy and conditions. Bangladesh and SL victory against India is best example and a captain is as good as his team and it is individual palyer to deicide to suppor team and captain or play for self ?? I When chappelll tried to give chance to youngesters many ppl said expereinece players required. When experienced failded now same ppl are asking for youngsters%u2026 If a player can get negative inspiration why can%u2019t same palyer /what is problem in getting positive inspiration play for team ???
F team win all players come forward to take credit then all players will be responsible for the defeat. relax guys , dravid is a good captain as of now, we don't have any option we can appoint Ganguly, he is too old sachin , no chance yuvraj singh, don't deserve only a oneday player , not a test player and also has a big attitude problem.
