shastri is man of words
by Suman Bhat on Apr 12, 2007 01:26 PM  Permalink

chapell hold mirror for dark side of ind cricket. he tried to push the players from comfort zone, treated all players alike and equal, and his alligation that sponsers play a role in team selection and stretgy is true and many players spend the time in crease as per sponser requirment / conditions
marketing agents of players in collusion with media painted a larger than life picture of senior players and would have done behind the scenes harm to the younger players by manipulating media.
sandip patil was coach for only 5 months. chappel shown door when he started war against seniour players and the group. Waht sahstri will do SANJAY MANJRKAR HAD GUTS TO RAISE HIS VOICE AGAINST SUPER STAR PLAYERS.
todays DNA newspaper carried out report that some players have signed the ad commercials till 2010 and nobody in bcci has guts to speak against these players or put them out of team.
All ex cricketers are blaming chappell nobody in bcci has guts to remove these players.
Today's DNA newspaper carried out report that some star players who had major roel in WC debacle, had singed the ad commercials till 2010.. and these players will be in team and perform as per ad clause...chappell%u2019s alligantion that sponsers play an imp role in team stretagy / selection and also wants the batsman to spend more time in crease. Loss of Indian Team in WC is due to these egoistic rotten heads
Many senior players will treat themselves as leaders not wanted to be led by leader. Its great tht even after handing over easy victory by Indian legends(sachin, viru, dhoni ganguly), dravid handed over a bat to Iqbal Tamim. This shows dravid is a true sportsman.

With confusion being a thing of the past, the path forward looks bright, open and clear !
by cajetan coelho on Apr 08, 2007 09:02 PM  Permalink

Experienced cricketers like AK, VVS, VS, Master Blaster and the Royal Tiger will have to contribute in a handsome way to relaunch the team on the right path. They know the glory days and the ways to remake and reshape Team India. With such proven men as the core group the way forward looks to be very promising. Mediocrity and lack of vision would soon be a thing of the past. The Divide and Rule policy has been a total failure as always. Leaders and collaborators of that agenda have covered themselves in shame and confusion. United we stand. Divided we fell. Ravi needs to impart the healing touch and restore a sense of dignity and unity among our cricketing heroes and icons who gave us so much to cheer in the not so distant days. Youngsters are bound to thrive in the company of our legends.

venkatesh prasad as bowling coach
by vasant goenka on Apr 08, 2007 11:46 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Appointing Venkatesh Prasad as a bowling coach is a big joke. This man himself was a very ordinary bowler ,very inconsistent, and could never learn from his mistakes.

i agree that parsad was a very ordinary bowler but lets be happy that indian cricket board had made some happy changes in the running of indian cricket. lets give parsad a chance and you never know he may do some trick some way or the other.i agree with ravi shastri that nothing can be changed overnight but atleast we have put one step ahead for the better.bowling coach and fielding coach was unthinkable in the indian cricket before world cup but atleast we have started thinking like the top teams like australia and south africa to name the few. what these coaches have impact on our crickters that time will tell but this is a good start for good future in india.

Another one from Mumbai
by Muralidhar Rao on Apr 08, 2007 09:01 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Shastri is given the job because he is from Mumbai and is a very close friend of Tendulkar. Vengsarkar was made Chairman of selectors because he is a rubber stamp of Tendulkar and Pawar.I wonder how many more players will be selected from Mumbai. Even though Dravid is the captain he will probably become another rubber stamp of Sachin because most seniors respect Sachin more than Dravid. This Indian team has become an utter joke. Sachin has taken over the reins now after he got Chappell fired. Sachin does not have to score runs anymore. His 500 million dollars will keep him safe in the Indian team for another 5 years.

Interesting line of thought.. Goto www.cricketvotes.com and check the "do you think all regions of india are fairly represented by the team?" question. More Maharashtrians think "no" than those voted "yes"

Shastri is good choice
by CricketLover on Apr 08, 2007 08:54 AM  Permalink

However having Venkatesh Prasad as a bowling coach is not good. This guy used to bowl at 125kph and was never consistent. 37 games 96 wickets speak for themselves. However the choice of Robin Singh as fielding coach is good. He was an extraordinary fielder and a great one day player. He could atleast take Indian fielding atleast couple of notches higher.

None of the Seniors deserve a place in the One Day Team
by Juzer H on Apr 08, 2007 01:38 AM  Permalink

None of the Seniors should be included in the one day team. They are a tired lot, and cannot match the fitness and endurance of the Australian team.
They may be given limited chance in the test team.

More over what about the Batting Coach? Is Ravi Shastri the new Batting Coach?

right decision
by vivek Raja on Apr 08, 2007 01:08 AM  Permalink

I will definitely question the structure of this world cup. There definitely a flaw in this. Two bad days of cricket and our out. Well after put this post people question the professionalism of the Indian Player .But In any profession u can two bad days. If look at previous world cup. Teams that have lost more than thrice in the league format made it to the super six and then to semi final. ICC definitely has give thought to this in the 2011 world cup

Shastri thinks he is smart
by dagal on Apr 08, 2007 12:39 AM  Permalink

Shastri is very clever to accept the Manager position just for Bangalesh tour now. Poor Bangalesh, we will take our revenge on them..beating the dead snake...everyone will score runs in this series and we will forget what happened in the world cup.

Shastri is a clever business man do not want to take too much risk with indian cricket. If all is well in the bangladesh tour..he can increase his fees and take credit. Whatever happening is an eye wash by BCCI to public. They are talking as if to correct the system.

Isn't it crazy to have so many coaches. We already started thinking..everything is going to be OK. Here comes the bangladesh tour that will make us believe we are in the right direction.

5 Former cricketers including shastri was there when interviewing Greg Chappel for the coach post. They all believed he is the right man for the job among others. What went wrong and why these guys are not accountable for selecting a coach who totally failed with the job. Why one of them got a job right now.
