Sourav vs Dravid: %u2018I Know What Is Right%u2019
During Sourav Ganguly%u2019s knock of 66 (129 balls, four fours) in the opening game against Bangladesh, Dravid is reported to have sent word twice or thrice to his predecessor to get the scoring rate going, but did not draw the desired response. The left-handed batsman, known to be a scourge of left-arm spinners, made just 45 runs off 69 balls against three left-arm spinners. He got out in the 44th over and left the later order with a lot to do, making Dravid fret and fume.

An SMS query about team composition that a journalist had meant for Sourav Ganguly ended up with another player. Of course, as is the nature of intrigues in the Indian team, the latter promptly shared it with skipper Rahul Dravid. The captain told Ganguly at a team meeting that he did not appreciate such interaction with the media. Ganguly shot back: "I have been captain of the Indian team and I know what is right and not. In any case, unlike you, I%u2019ve friends in the media." Enough said.

LOVE FOR THE NATION

Hi guys,
I think the board has taken a right stand by restricting the players to 3 companies. By this way they will be able to concentrate on their sole target and job-TO PLAY WELL CONSISTENTELY.

In the past what used to happen is the new guys who do well used to go mad by signing 10-12 companies straight away after performing in 10-12 matches as if they want to earn the bucks for their whole life in 1 year.
Money's "HAVAS" is always bad. By this policy they will still earn a reasonable amount of money but this policy will also force them to perform more n more better so that they can earn that much money from 3 companies which they used to earn from 7-8 companies. This urge of continuous performance will help ultimately our team. Board must stick with this policy and should not change it in future what so ever the circumstances.
The other good thing the board has done is abolishing the CONTRACT system which keeps the players on guard always becos this will going to be their sole source of income from matches.

WHATEVER, but tell me guys isn't that shame for us that our players are driven by money and not by National Pride. Look at Aussies 'The Baggy Green Cap' is enough for him to do good performance. Playing for Australia is enough for him. Alas, would that our players develop that LOVE FOR THE NATION.

the early exit of team from WC is b'czu of some players deliberately played the negative cricket and gifted match to bangadesh and SL .chappelll tried push the senior players from comfort zone and treated every body alike and equal. some paid marketing agents of ganguly blame chappell for pathatic performance and scream on top voice dravid is not good captain and ganguly should be appointed and sachin should retire. these ppl act like cric expert does not highlight the ganguly's contribution to defeat , the petty politcis he played with his chelas like bajji, zahir, dhoni andGanguly had big role in defeat in mathch against Bangladesh. He gifted match t o bangaldesh deliberately playing negative cricket just to humiliate dravid and to take revenge against chappell ?? but he betrayed the whole team ganguly wasted more balls than runs he scored poor fielding and poor running wkt and unwilling to take singles cost more runs to team also created pressure on batsman on other side He did not bother to try and hold an easy catch during agarka bowling , Never tried to accelerate run rate He did not tried to hold simple catch during agarkar%u2019s bowling
60 runs in 130 balls how it can help a team cause?? Ganguly had one stage for having batted through nearly 11 overs to make a mere 7 runs.
Yuvraj Scored 47 runs in 10 overs India Scored 191 in 50 overs
Ganguly Scored 66 runs in 21 overs wasted more balls than runs he scored.,
Yuvraj Scored 47 runs in 10 overs
Rest of team scored 50 in 19 overs
Against burmada Ganguly scored 89 in 114 balls wasted 25 balls that is around 4.6 runs per over... compare it to the indian teams average of 8.26
Ganguly was struggling while batting against burmuda, and got 3 lifes Ganguly 7 in 23 balls against SL:
Harbajan singh went wktless in 2 matches
dhoni failed with bat was laughing when he dro[[ed catch t
there were not sight in picture which tv channel shown when India lost ot SL all other players are in tears
Tendulkar scored a duck, Ganguly 7 in 23 balls and Yuvraj 6? Dhoni 0?( match against srilanka)
zahirkahn was wktless in firest match and in he took 2 wkts against SL but he gave more extra runs b'cuz of erratic bowling.
VC captain sachin failed completely with bat
coz the players who played all 3 matchs Except dravid munaf yuvraj nobody has shown commitment?

More marathi folks think that Tendulkar shd retire.

92% think Robin is a good fit for fielding coach.
Dinesh Karthick of the most supported player , with 95% asking him to be in.
Agit agarkar is the most unwanted, 80% want him out, follwed by 79% for Harbajan singh. NDTV's first question to 15 senior officials from different state associations including major ones like Delhi, Mumbai, Punjab and Karnataka was whether the Indian skipper should be sacked or retained.

A staggering 80 per cent said he should continue, while just 13 per cent said he should go.

Rankings - Accountablity

Ideas for Indian cricket
I don't know if anyone thought of this

Now that there is a bowling, batting and fielding coach, there should be a way of accounting players for their efforts.
The respective coaches and their support staff must grade the platers and rank them according some standards (same as the standards used by ICC or any known standard)

1. Have a fielding ranking of all 25-40 players
2. Have a bowling ranking of all players
3. Have a batting ranking.

Notice that order is India's fielding(weakest), bowling (Weaker) and then batting (weak). Surprisingly though the bowling in recent times has been a tad bit better than the batting.

This grading system must be in place for all domestic cricket too. This give a huge sense of accountability for all players and coaches and selectors concerned.

Finally,
Top ranked fielder, bowler and batsman of the year will be given an award, with a chance to place his endorsement of choice through the BCCI.
Now this ranking should be compared to world ICC standard and if any player is on the top of that list for a full year a special award should be made in his honour.

Coaches on all levels need to be graded and ranked too, to develop better coaches and standards in India. Use of technology to the fullest must be encouraged.

Now there is only one problem with this idea and that is players play selfishly. So for batting and bowling a grading system in which the points earned by a player in an India loss is half the points earned in an India win.
For any good fieling there can be no selfishness hence an equal point grading for a loss or win for this aspect.
This should give a lot more incentive to play unselfishly for the team.

Let me know what anyone thinks of this idea.

PS:
To everyone out there - Don't complain and fight about the terrible things that have already happened.
Strive in trying to see what went wrong and fix it by making a positive change.

ganguly should stop playing politics and promoting groupism. He ditched dalmiay and dravid he can backstab his gangster like bajjik yuvraj sewag , dhoni , zhirkhan
dravid knows that ravishastri, sahrad pawar, vengsrarkar with sahcin and ganguly and his gang are promoting groupism, he still accepted captaincy?? How can u say he is coward??
HE is fighting with board for player%u2019s contract, endorosments, and asking for media manager and a saying of captain to choose the younger players selection .. are these not leadership qualities ?
What is so called being aggressive captain %u2013taking out shirt and rooling shirt yelling some bad words
OR AFTER HISTORIC WIN IN sa, WEAVING THE IND FLAG AND THNKING SUPPORTERS??

Dravid played under captaincy of sachin and ganguly, but he did not promote groupism or negative cricket. He anchored the success for ganguly%u2019s captaincy in odis and test.. But when he was leading team some players did not support him. If players are not for team cause & play deliberately negative cricket and gifted match to Bangladesh SL, the players should be balmed.?
There is an opinion sachin plays for records and when in crucial matches he wont' ber there for team service. IF he is great legent, why he insisted to open batting. ??
IF IND PLAYERS FIGHT THE BATTLE ON THE GROUND RATHER THAN IN DRESSING ROOM THEY WOULD NOT HAVE OUT OF Wc IT IS NOT LOSS OF DRAVID BUT ALSO GANGULY AND SACHIN. LATEST DEVELOPMENTS AND PERFROMANCE IN wc MATCHES DID NOT BRING ANY LAURELS TO BOTH GANGULY AND SACHIN
and performance brings ICC awards and dravid's career is best example for that
ganguly and sachin both are better stroke players and odi opening pair and got more runs and 100s than dravid but DRAVID STILL AHEAD OF BOTH OF THEM XII IN ICC RANKING...
dadagiri groupism politics will bring bad name
if ganguly thinks he took revenge it was his loss also. do u think he and sachin will be there in team for next WC

Dravid gave his unconditional support and sacrifices to all captians he played under. Check statistics for last7-8 years and see the contributions of dravid forr little success india had WHY CAN%u2019T OTHER PLAYERS DO THE SAME NOIW??CRICKET ts a team game and ALL PLAYERS have to contribute from bat and ball
Captian and coach did not tell senior players to not take singles, waste more balls than runs scored, poor running bet wkt, drop catches, give so many extra to bowlers, por batting and throwing wkt by playing silly shots%u2026.
, leadership can only take the horse to the water but the horse as to drink it and not vommit.

Even though all senior players are not supporting him, he is fighing with board for contract, endorosement issie
He took fight against chetan desai/ dirty report leak.
he fought for Sehwag/pathan in the selection meeting where the W C squad was picked.
. Sewag is highest rungetter and socred 100 against bermeada others batsman did not score 100 even against bermada
Dravid refused to identify any teammate as doing groupism or out of form or some players are rotten apple.
Dravid accepted the responsibility for defeat in public infront of media( sachin can go media against some bad report / email leak but he never accepted the defeat that he also failed with bat)
Dravid also asked for one media manager, ad managaer and a saying of captain in selection of youngsters,
How can anyone say he is not aggressive or inimaginative or spineless???

Absolutely unfortunate!
by Dan Lewis on Apr 08, 2007 11:06 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Nothing can be more unfortunate than seeing Dravid as a captain. He is already proven disastrous. I assume that his failure did count good marks for captaincy. It is clear that the regional lobby is more powerful. I do not see the difference in what people used to raise voice against Dalmiya for godfathering Ganguly. At least under his captaincy we reached the final. Besides this, he has a way better track record than the current one. But the capabilities hardly count. What all count is the naked nepotism spiced in regionalism. My bet however, was for young players say Yvraj,Sewag or Kaif.

After the win, you must have atleast offered to quit? The words from your mouth were at best equivocal. Now, a narrow win in Bangladesh your regional supported will praise you like you're the god.. Same with Tendulkar and Ganguly.. That will cement their places until next world cup..
