RE:CONGRATULATIONS DRAVID
by Raja Ivaturi on Apr 07, 2007 08:58 PM  Permalink
I am amazed to see such supporting statements for a captain. But will you remember when the team wins? We all were praising Captain and Coach when things were going fine. Than why not these two take the blame when things go wrong? In fact it was Dravid who is graceful to accept the blame and let us take it as a fact.

I appreciate your clarity of thought. You are probably right, going by all circumstantial evidence. As a member of the general public, we dont get to know as to exactly what would have transpired in the BCCI meeting.

Rahul Dravid retained as captain? That too, for the next three tours? Well, there's nothing lot to say. In a word, it's a shame. The BCCI once again proves that the body is presently run by a bunch of third-class jokers.

You, Bangu, what do you want BCCI to do, to appoint Gangu as Captain, who wants to divide the team. Have some sense, you idiot.

Mind your language, and learn some modesty as well as manners. But how could you anyway? That calls for cultural heritage. For that you would have to be reborn as a Bengalee.

Dravid should be given a fair chance again, maybe these three series.

Who knows the defeat in WC would have changed his attitude completely

throwing ball directly to stumps is not the only criteria to be a fielding captain. It is attitude while fielding and overall fitness. while playing for india he was fitest player in the dozen.

Do not let go the criminals !!!
by premal desai on Apr 07, 2007 08:29 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Hey what is this, people are committing crime and they get away with it. To make it simple why our players especially seniors are not punished after the debacle of WC. Give them a compulsory break of 6 months and make them feel that this is the punishment. Retaining few from the existing team below 25 yrs all should be given a rest. With this new and young player will at least get a chance to show their potential. I hope the board does a rethinking on this.
I%u2019m writing this because we Indian fans has a right to react this way, because we are the share holders of this company (Players and BCCI) by becoming the consumers of the products which they are endorsing and earning out of it.
And who else can be better then %u2018Wasim Akram%u2019 as our Bowling coach. In fact he has once shown his willingness to do the same.

rahul as captain

I appreciate the move to appoint to rahul dravid as the captain of the indian team.It will motivate him to learn and correct his past mistakes. He must be given the freedom to choose the right team to excel under him.Ganguly can also be included in the team as an opener as he is still in form.Dinesh kartik/raina/kaif can be his deputy.let us induct young blood in to the indian team.

North vs south instead of discussion on cricket
by Raj Raj on Apr 07, 2007 08:27 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It pains me to see a lot of dicsussion on north vs south politics instead of the discussion on cricket.

Rahul Dravid is a Maharastrian born in Indore and did schooling etc... in Banagalore.

How does it matter to all where he was born or what language does he speak?

I am glad that there is atleast one real Gentleman who doesn't use the maharashtrian background unlink others who have used Bengali sentiment, Bombay, Karnataka sentiment etc... a lot in the past.

No doubt about that point, Dravid is probably the most complete best batter in India today, probably among the top 5 in the world .But as a captain, he looks stale and he is not at all aggressive like Ponting, Smith, Fleming or even Jayawardena

Point is "Did you guys ever ever give a chance to captain peacefully during his tenure ? Put your hand to your heart and answer this question ."

What would have happened if Ganguly and team was booted out in the first round in the previous World Cup ?

I am happy that Rahul Dravid is retained as Captain of the Indian Team and about the selection of the players based on the performance rather on than the zonal system. This has to be fast. Please stop crying on the Indian Team for the world cup debacle. We the people Of India should encourage them at tough times rather pin pointing them. That makes them more goal oriented.......

dravid as a captain
by SHYAM on Apr 07, 2007 08:23 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is very good decision that such a honest and hard working has been alloted captaincy again,

I donot think the people who are talking about motivation as such level the player who are playing for India requires any motivation as they are all above 18 year's old have their decision power and remove the player who are not doing well when the requires it constantly.

dravid's attitude, it is perfect. he has enough aggression required to motivate the team. Now if players(stars)like sachin, ganguly, yuvraj etc doenot gets motivated then it cannot be helped.

Batting Coach

what would be the criteria for getting selected?

he must most certainly have had a prior succesfull international experience as a batsman for his country..He must be a cool headed team man, not a selfish man..

The next Indian batting coach could be any one of Mohinder Amarnath, GR Vishvanath, Yasphal Sharma who were all selfless n their approach and who always played for their country rather than for themselves liuke shastrys, gangulys, gavaskars and tendulkars

For a bowling coach, there were surely better candidates than Prasad..definately..Manoj Prabhakar who was a reverse swing exponent with he old ball, Srinath our best fast bowler ever or even Abid Ali who it seems used to make players of the calibre of Sobers and Kanhai jump on their feet as my dad says..
