by Father John on Apr 08, 2007 03:54 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

BCCI is great! It's earning a lot of money. Greg Chappell is great! He finished indian cricket with his great knowledge, vision, 10 year plan etc. Good bye indian cricket.

Dravid the flip side of faliure!
by Dan Lewis on Apr 08, 2007 03:28 AM  Permalink

Buddy the Kannad lobby is so strong that they will prevent any good things form happening for India. Look at Dravid, he is so shameless and power hungry that staying as a captain in the team is more important than anything else. His performance as a cricketer has reached at its low ebb. He must be having a Godfather in the team the way Gangul used to have one. But Ganguly has a proven track record and we reached the final under his captaincy. Now we are out in the very first round! They dont want to take a lesson. Besides most of the team members do not have a favor for Dravid. So I am wondering whom is he going to motivate may be those idiots in his state lobby. Even Sachin and Yuvi are bad guys these days! Can you imagine? just because they spoke the truth! How dare are they to speak against Sachin. If the country does not recognize their heroes why should the fellow citizens would die for their country? Anyway, let us hope that at least the team wins in BNGdesh.

BCCI had made Indian Cric fans fools!
by Reform India on Apr 08, 2007 03:07 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I hope Mr.Pawar should have followed every rediff message board. You know why there were loads of superb comments on how to improve our team. Its totally a ingorance of Indian cricket viewers and their comments. If BCCI continue this way as political party. Imagine our national game Hockey we are no where. In cricket we will be the same. Fans pls do think that Indian play Cricket for our nation. Its a job in public sector they might fail. Lets ignore them. You know Sachin has a contract with 11 firm worth 400 million dollars. This apart from his wages. Can we imagine his quiting criket. No he will be playing cricket till WC 2011 to create another record. But our players will sink our country that for sure. They are trying to make viewer a foooooooools. More over Mr.Pawar is failure in his ministry as well as being a presindent for BCCI. He know where money flow. Why because very common Indian watch Cricket.

Nothing changes. The BCCI including Sharad Pawar should take responsibility for failure. What is a dirty politician running a sports body?
Chappell should be gotten rid of and not brought back in any role. He is a big time loser.

Get rid of all old players who will not be playing in the next world cup. Keep them around for only Tests.

Mission Accomplished
by Mahesh on Apr 08, 2007 02:49 AM  Permalink

Well after what the Board discussed over the past two days, the net result was the following:

1. Greg - achieved what he had set out for - to
destroy Indian cricket altogether. He proved
that he is a true Aussie in letter and spirit

2. Sachin - the normally quite one - gave into
provocation from Greg and blurted out - in
the process incurring the wrath of the BCCI -
and also lowering his already sinking image
still lower

3. Yuvraj - yet to find himself as a real top
notch player - shot his mouth off trying to
play spokesperson - is also at the
receiving end from the BCCI

4. The earnings have been curtailed and the
endorsements have been made fewer

5. The proxy selection at zonal levels will
also fade away soon

6. The biggest plus point of all this is the
enforcement of all Mai-Ka-Lals playing
domestic cricket too

7. A coach for each stream of activity - now
that was not expected - hope they did not
end up fighting with each other - in the
process of shaping the team

All this because the Board looked the other way when the matters were getting murkier and murkier in Indian cricket.

There was one sour note to the whole episode - sidelining former Indian Captains - Wadekar, Bedi and Azhar - only because some people did not see eye to eye with them. Now this from we can say that if the head is not right - the tail is defintely going to keep wagging.

BCCI Should be Privetized first ...
by rahul guha on Apr 08, 2007 02:46 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Questions to BCCI ...

1. How you keep Dravid as a captain after watching him leading the team against Bangladesh? Do you guys watch cricket ... did you watched cricket before and have seen India playing under Ganguly's leadership? Don't you see the difference? Do you need another pair of glasses ?

2. These players are so stinking rich, they care less about match fee anyway. But what kind of signal this "per match" fee system gives? You are my labor ... I own you and I pay you!!! Fact is ... BCCI is such a rich organization because of people pouring their attention to these media stars!!!

3. Put a hold on their endorsement !!! WHY? If someone asks Mr. Pawar to step out of his political activities to be the BCCI president ... does that work? Is there any data which shows that endorsement had any negative effect on their performance?
These folks are adults ... and they live and breathe cricket. They know how to keep themselve competitive in this non-functional Indian Cricket arena ... As a parent body you failed to provide an infrustracture for grooming cricket (even a good spinner) in a country of billion people ... Now you are after their business !!!

4. Show cause Sachin and Yuvraj !!!! Are you guys crazy? You can't say a single word against Chappel when he leaks his report to press but beat your most sincere player with a whip!!!

5. Finally ... where is your promise to change Domestic Cricket? How you think will attract more public in Ranji/Irani etc and make those more competitive? How do you expect these players performing in International arena without any feelings of prior pressure?

Talking accountability, how the performance of this board will be judged? Is it by millions of dollars earned or by crucifying previous board ... or by providing some realistic measurable indicators that they are accountable for. And if they fail ... they are gone!!!
If you think Cricket is a religion in India, Players are the Gods and these Board folks are the Pandas (read p***s) ...
I would put my eggs with the players anyday than allowing some unqualified political p***s playing with that ...

Hey Dan Lewis, you don't seem to be an Indian looking at your utterances aimed at creating regional fanaticism. How can you arrive at this conclusion when a nationwide poll amongs't all the State Cricket Associations voted 80 % in favour of Dravid remaining Captain. These guys are not laymen like you & me but run the cricket administration in the country with a deep knowledge of the game. The whole of India knows who the back-stabbers were in our debacle at the World cup. So, get your facts right, buddy.

Rahul Dravid
by ss ss on Apr 08, 2007 02:25 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

BCCI wants to have worst cricket Captain in History.. it would be Rahul Dravid. He is a great batsman but no attitude or capability of a leadership. He evn is not capable of leading a domestic Team as Captain.Indian Cricket team will loose in Bangladesh and then we will have hopefully..new captain.Even Any Captain of Ranji team would be better captain than him

He is still great in slow pitches. In south Africa he could not show any greatness. he, too, is same age of Sachin n Sourav. his batting, too, is on the wane.
