Somebody should suggest them with the money they have they can offer foeign players to apply as Indian Citizens and play in Indian Team :-)
The main thing is people in India can;t respect their heroes. Why does people talk about Tendulkar when he has done all this for India. Neither his strike rate is low, neither his scoring average is low, then why ???
Why not the author talks about Dravid, whose useless captaincy has made all this in team. He is no good a team leader as he cannot make the team work as one gun.
Just analyse how many games has Dravid won with his century's. How many games has Dravid batted well when in pressure & when the country needed him desperately. Don;t forget the time of 90's when Tendulkar's wicket would give a win to the opponent. Also see the performance of Dravid in this world cup. When did he batted when required.
All the people are with him just because he is a poor fellow with a sad face. Why does;nt anybody sack him out of the team or atleast talks about dropping him off from the captaincy.

It seems that Hemang don't follow today's cricket. I think he is only watching the old recorded video of Sachin's game.
I agree that sachin played a lot for the country and we gave (are giving) him more respect, awards, money, titles, fame.....etc.
Just for his old records, we can not keep him in the team till he voluntarily retires.
In the past several years, he never played a good game in the crucial matches and he was not a match winner. He scores century aainst some small teams in a leak matches. But he is not able to stand in the crease for more than 5 overs in the do or die matches. We don't expect this kind of game from him.
He is not playing good. So he should be kicked out from the team irrespective of his old/gold records.
When comapre with Sachin, Dravid is the reliable and responsible batsman.
(I am talking all these based on their performances in the recent year. I don't care about his old records. For his records, we have given him more than enough)

Girish, you stop nonsense. Come out of your dream of centuries. When you could say Sachin has more hundreds against Ausis. Then tell me which numbers were wrong in my quote. Agree facts wherever they come from either crickinfo or something else. Shut you mouth now.

Shekhar, really correct buddy. People are just fan of a player and a team. Sachin has no excuses and he should be removed from one-day team immeditely along with Ganguly, Bajji(he forgot to out a batsman, he knows only pass comments)
RE:Why Tendulkar...... ??????

Yes I agree.... Critics just answer these questions..
1) On last 20 innings of Raina and Shewag whom would you pick based on stats only...if you want to add potential then also whom would you pick... 2) In 3 matches which was played in World cup , there were 9 so called seniors and 3 juniors.... out of which 2 failed in all 3 matches -- Utthappa and Dhoni... Munaf also did not do well in the match against Bermuda.. Going by stats only we could have lost to Bermuda if only "Juniors" would be there. Will that satisfy Sachin's critics. 3) Dhoni came into team with his performances in India 'A' . He was batting at 1,2 or 3. He scored his highest score 180 odd batting at 3. He is currently batting at number 6/7. Who is responsible ? Sachin and seniors or the team management including coach. 4) For those who want to see Sachin bat , where is he best suited no 1 or no4. who is repsonsible for him batting at no 4 just 2 months prior to world cup ????? 5) Who is repsonsible to encourage and make sure Irfan Pathan's dipping performance comes up again ? Seniors or Coach / Management ??????
Its not Sachin vs Dravid vs X Y z. Problem is not also that Sachin does not bat well in pressure games , if that was so we would have not reached so many finals and won so many series.... Is just we remember what we want to ... who can forget Sachin at Sharjah , Chennai test against Paki ., his 241 against Aus.. and most recently his 100 in 70 balls....
or just remeber his failures and keep againsing....
And by the way who all are saying that he should retire apart from Indians ... Mike Atherton (England) and Ian Chappell (Aussie)...
Is it a coincidence that India is suppose to play series with them this year only.... I think all Indians should remember "Divide and Rule" policy and stand united against such people........We should win those series with or without Sachin and X Y Z ...

Hello Hemang bhai, So, you want the team with heroes not with players. As a true fan i choose cricket team with their performance in recent times. I do not wish Kapil and Amernadh to play by looking at their records. Now coming to the point: read this statistics about our players in last 2 years. you will know the facts. Sachin has 55 average in good batting conditions and has just 27 in difficult conditions. And he has average of just 14runs against top bowling attacks Australia and SA. Now, dont tell me the old stories, I know the history as a good follower of cricket. come to reality and accept.

Why do you single out Sachin. Everyone in the Indian team has aweful average in difficult conditions except Kaif. Don't just throw some numbers copied from Cricinfo. Everybody is well informed here. And Sachin has better average against top bowling attacks. than you mentioned. As a matter of fact, he has highest number of century against Aus. Don't open your mouth without proper knowledge. Be fair when you judge.

How do you define "difficult" batting conditions? What is the yard stick for that?
Will be interesting to see avg of other batsmen in these so called "difficult" conditions.

Hey Sameer, Let us take an example of 2003WC final. As cricket follower I can say that was a batting pitch. When your opponent team could score more than 250-300 runs, that is obviously a batting pitch irrespective of whether you loose by 100 runs or 2 runs. Now, see all the players performance.
Dirty mumbai politics sucks! Don't say Team India anymore if Sachin is new Captain. It is Team Mumbai then. I think betting is better than all this politics. I accept Tendulkar was my Demi-God until 1998-99. After than, he had one good world cup in 2003. Thats all. He is earning 150 crores a year and want to be in the team for another 5 years as he had signed a new 5 years 100 crore contract. Hats off to Ten-DUCK-ar for his Business mind.

The mentioned views of this author are only against Tendulkar. Why only Tendulkar? Why not talk about the attituides of all the senior players. Tendulkar said this and that. Tendulkar never spoke anything in the media in last 17 years of his career. So is he not allowed to express his views? He is a human after all. Ganguly also said so many unwanted things in the media. So why such a hue and cry for Tendulkar's one statement? He played way below his calible in this WC. Nodoubt about that, but he is also taking the responsibility for that. It takes lot of guts to come forward and take the responsibility of the failure. Why doesn't author mention the attitude of the coach? Chappell was wrong at first place to publish provocating statements in the media about the seniort players. Chappell just pull the string by issuing the statement against the senior players and now the whole media is dancing on his tunes. This indicates that media and this author are still under the influence of GORAs. Every coin has 2 sides. So let's give a chance to our players to express their views. too.

Dear JAGBIR SINGH,
I really don't want to sound rude, but your analysis is not sound. Hope you are not an analyst by profession. When Mr. Aryaputra says that Tendulkar is not a match winner, he is absolutely right. A match winner is supposed to win games for one's country single handedly against all odds. Now you said out the 31 instances he scored a century, India has won. What you should have done is, continued the analysis further by determining how many of those centuries were against minnows, how many helped the team dig out of the hole and win the game, how many other team mates scored a century along with him. In simple words I am asking you to analyze the circumstances behind the 31 centuries. I have not done this analysis, but I can guesstimate that probabaly less than 5 out of 41 centuries helped India win in a difficult situtation. This includes his innings in Sharjah. so think about wat I penned down. Hope you see the same thing I see

RE:Tendulkar a matchwinner?

The common sense is, when a player scored a century means in most of the times, the team would have sored good and won the match. Now you take any player in the world who scored some centuries, you can 60-90% times their team would have won the match. Now, no matter to say that 31 times out of 41 times he won matches, simply it happens with any player. Rest of the issues are common like, against strong opponents, playing abroad, in finals, etc.

Dear Friend,
Pls go through on these analysis and then think again :
People have often criticised Sachin for not being a match winner. Here is a compilation made by a big sachin fan Source : Message on rediff message boards When many people say how many of Sachin's hundreds have come for a winning cause, I decided to check the Cricinfo stats and here are the results. Out of the 41 hundreds, 11 hundreds have gone in vain. I will try to analyse each of them.
1. 137 off 137 balls Vs SriLanka at Delhi in 1996 World Cup. India scored 271/3 in 50 overs. The only other 50 score was from Azhar. SL made 272 in 48.4 overs. Manoj Prabhakar had 4-0-47-0. He also opened in the innings with Sachin and scored 7 of 36 balls.
2. 100 of 111 Balls Vs Pak in Singapore- Apr 96. India 226 all out in 47.1 overs, When Sachin was out score was 186/4. Pak had a reduced target of 187 from 33 overs. 3. 110 of 138 Balls vs Sri Lanka In Colombo - Aug 96. Again India 226 for 5 in 50 overs, Only other 50 score from Azhar (58 of 99 balls).Sachin has also bowled 6-0-29-1, the second most economical bowler and the only wicket taker (SL were 230/1 in 44.2) of the match next to Srinath. 7 bowlers were used by Azhar.
4. 143 of Balls Vs Aus at Sharjah, Apr 1998. This was chasing under lights. The qualifying match before the final. The whole world knows about this match. Still one interesting point, when Sachin was out India were 242 at 5 at 43 overs. Target was 276 in 46. Still India finished at 250/5 scoring just 8 of the next 3 overs. Great performance indeed.
5. 101 of 140 Balls against SL at Sharjah in Oct 2000. Indian score was 224/8 in 50 overs. (No other 50 score). SL got 225/5 in 43.5, Sachin also bowled 5-0-22-0, better economy rate than everyone except Srinath.
6. 146 of 153 Balls against Zimbabwe at Jodhpur - December 2000 India made 283 / 8 in 50 overs. Sachin was the last man to be dismissed, score was 235/8 at 46.3 overs when he was out. Agarkar and Zaheer Khan propelled India to 283 in the last 3.3 overs. When Sachin has scored 146 of 235 in 46.3 overs, you can guess what the other 8 great batsmen were doing against the World class Zimbabwe attack. Second Highest scorer was Zaheer Khan with 32. Zim got 284/9 in 49.5 overs. Agarkar bowled the last over. Sachin also got 6-0-35-1
7. 101 of 129 Balls Vs SA at Johannesburg - Oct 2001 India got 279/5 in 50, Ganguly made 127 of 126 balls. When Ganguly got out, the score was 193-1 in 35.2 overs. Sachin was the last man to get out at 263. SA got 280 in 48.4 overs. Sachin bowled 9-0-51-0, second best in economy rate next only to Agarkar (10-0-45-1)
8. 141 of 135 balls Vs Pak at Rawalpindi, March 2004. India were chasing 329 and were 317 all out in 48.4 overs, 8 balls to spare. No other batsman made even a 50 (when chasing 300 ) and when Sachin was out, India were 245-4 in 38.4 overs. They needed 85 from 68 balls with 6 wickets in hand.
9. 123 of 130 Balls vs Pak at Ahmedabad, April 2005. India made 315/6 in 48 overs (48 over match), again no other 50 score. Second highest was Dhoni 47 of 64 balls, (third highest was extras - 39). Pak made 319 in 48 overs. The three quicks (Balaji, Nehra and Khan went for 188 runs from 26 overs between them taking only 2 wickets). Sachin bowled 6-0-36-1. No Harbhajan and no Kumble.
10. 100 of 113 Balls Vs Pak at Peshawar, Feb-2006. India were 328 all out in 49.4 overs. Pathan and Dhoni got 60 each. When Sachin was out when India were 305-5 in 45 overs. Managed only 23 in the last 5 overs. Pak scored 311/7 in 47 overs and won by D/L method. Could have been anybody's game. Sachin did not bowl. 11. 141* of 148 balls vs WI at Malaysia. India made 309 /5 in 50 overs. Sachin was not out. Pathan was the only other 50 scorer. WI made 141/2 in 20 overs and won by D/L method. Again could have been anybody's game.
In the other 31 instances India has won 30 times and once there was no result.
Now, please think again when you say sachin's 100s were in the losing cause and that he is not a team player. It is a fact that for the entire 90's India played International cricket with 1 player and 10 jokers.

Friend, great statistics! The question is, whether he has been a matchwinner in the last three years? Nothing to cheer about. I said "three years", giving a wide allowance to Sachin in keeping with the typical Indian mindset. In strict parlance, if anyone has not performed for more than six months, he has no right to stake a claim in team selection. The guy has been given a long, long rope. Enough is enough!

Jagbir, ur compilation is great. Indian team depended on him for many years, but the fact is since 2 years are so sachin is not contributing much to the team. we can not keep him in the team on his past records. Every body knows that he can not play as he used to play 5 years before. If we compare today's Sachin with Ponting, hayden, Jaya Surya, lara, who are still playing good game sachin is not fit to play now. He can quit one days and continue in tests for few more years. A young player like Karthik or Raina can be made in to a good player instead of giving Sachin more chances.

Jagbir my good man ! I'm afraid you've put your foot in your mouth , inspite of such a wonderfully compiled table !
Since you're so good with stats, pray tell us that of the 30 victories just HOW MANY were in CRITICAL GAMES? Finals, must win games etc...the answer : ALMOST NONE, IF ANY AT ALL!
Here's a quick FYI : we played 20-odd finals on the trot & lost all of them...Sacin played all of them - hmm, now wouldn't you want your "best batsman in the world" to do it for you when it really matters ? Like the Dravids, Pontings, Waughs, Richards, etc always do...fact remains that withe exception of Sharjah '98 Sachin HAS NEVER done it for us when we need him to. And as a comparison, think back to all the important victories that India has had in the past 7-8 years : you'll see that a certain Mr. Rahul Dravid has always showed up in those games ! Ah, and how we keep reaping accolades on Sachin, simply a passenger since the WC 03...

And if you look at his statistics at Home and Abroad, you will see that the bulk of his average comes from Home matches or closer to sub-continent.
First, I wud like to thank Mr Lavkare to write such a good article. Now since the Greg has gone, the time has come now for these chokers to perform. We know that what decision BCCI is going to take. Keep these chokers in, bring couple of young guys and keep Sardaar who takes wickets in DReams only. This all drama was create to make Indian cricket lover to forget about what happened in world cup and indulge in dirty politics where the blame game is going on since they return from the WI.
The bunch of Jokers (Pawar,Ex-cricket captains and current senior players) will have a great time. They would enjoy samosas, kachoris, vada pau and some hot beverages. The topic of discussion would be about the shopping done at west indies .Some senior players will gift items to pawar to be in the good books and the shameless fellow would accept the same with a big smile.
Overall nothing drastic is going to happen,it`s waste of time and money. They will probably announce a new coach and captain. The so called cricket team will tour Bangladesh and massacare them and indian public would go gaga over the cricket team.

I completely agree with your comments. I think you pretty much summed up what I wanted to say(but couldn't find the right words). These comments are amusing and lightened up my day, but sadly they are true.
I am hugely disappointed with the way India played in the world cup. I have been following all the cricket matches played by all the teams and I can be 100% sure that our cricket system is very wrong. There are ppl in the board who haven%u2019t even held a bat in their hands. I feel following should be done to improve the system
1) Reduce the number of matches which India plays in a year
2) If India is going for a tour then make them play in suitable conditions. like for e.g.- if they are touring England or New Zealand then make them practice for minimum 15 days in north where there is due like Delhi or mohali or jammu
if they are touring Australia them make some bouncy pitches in south or west and make them practice for 15days and we al know that there have been matches played on the pitches of India where there was bounce and after their practice make them go 15 to 20 days before any tour so there they at least get 3 practice matches to play before the tour starts.
3) Its not only the batsmen our BOWLERS also need to practice to foreign conditions as we have seen even on wickets having a lot of grass or bounce or bowlers fails to bowl at right lengths.
4) all players should play the domestic matches and this will add competition within the country and our newcomers will get to play quality players which will help them play in tough situations as it is in Australia, they play tough cricket, as it was said be Mr. IAN CHAPPLE Australia, south Africa have the capacity to bring the game back when its not going their way we saw in the champions trophy finals windies got to a flyer from some 90 for 1 in 12 overs they were bowled out for 120 or 130 but India cant do that and that is cas our players dont have tough compitition in the the domestic circuit.
5) its not that Australian domestic circuit is the best if you see today there are not enough youngsters in their domestic team 80% of them are above 31 yrs of age.if you see in present Australian team there are only 3 or 4 players below 30%u2019s it%u2019s a worry for them too
6)Munaf patel was once our fastest bowler and now he is the slowest amongst the lot.MR Chappell had asked him to bowl line and length but i feel there should be one bowler i the team who should be very quick to unsettle the batsmen.
