shame on media
by Keasavan Kutty on Apr 06, 2007 12:24 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

nice comment this is....

Enough is Enough...

You people in media are covering and exaggerating the events that have happened in the recent past in Indian cricket just to benefit your self.

It is real shame on the media for having stooped to such low levels to keep up their TRP's, circulations and hit rates.

Why is it that you are not willing to give enough coverage to other sports, because you belive those will not attract readership and viewership. You people just want to cash upon the psyche of the mass and show as if you are doing something great for the society.

Count the number of articles, television shows that you have written about cricket and the number of articles that you have written about other sports.

Any cricket player who plays even one match becomes a national hero thanks to you guys.

Why dont you highlight and make stars of of other games like hockey, football, chess, shuttle and improve the standard of these games.

The petty mindness and financial considerations of media is the only reason behind the unneccessary hype and making mortal cricket players look like extraordinary and out of the world.

In the last 3 days all channels have been hell bent on showing news about cricket and only cricket, as if there is nothing else in the world to report. I am sure the same will continue for the next few days...

Cricket is after all a game and nothing more, it is not in anyway going to improve the quality of our life or going to address the major issues that our country faces.

Allow this game to be just a game and nothing more...

And you people in the media, wake up... there are more vital burning issues that we face, address them first with priority and act like real journalists without trying to play and benefit on the psyche of the common man...

P.S
I dont have anything against media infact I have been a part of one of the country's leading media group. It is the feeling that we are deviating from the real purpose and essence of journalism that pains me.

You are the conscience of the society, please be more responsible and devote your time and energy to things that are of far more significance than on petty issues like cricket...

Wake up... There are better things that you people can do...

Hi Friend.
Its good that you are writing the truth about Media.
They write only about Cricket in this way.
Are they the only Culprit. They write what we read because they are doing business man.

Once you stop reading these contents then they will stop giving this much preference to cricket.

Do you really know any Indian Football Playes names or Hockey players name.

Do you watch these sports atleast. Reply is no.

No one knows about other sports as people are not intrested in other sports. We cant blame media for that.

Lets talk plain cricket!
by karthik on Apr 06, 2007 12:06 PM  Permalink

I think,we should over look all the media reports and focus on plain cricket. Why a sachin failed against both bangladesh and Srilanka? If players like him, who are in Grade A and given star status in the team are failing, then what should be done to them and how we should treat them.. If Atappatu can be kept out of playing 11, why cant a sachin be an exception. Even if he had scored 30 more centuries, how this will help in finding a best 11 on any given day?

Conspiracy
by SarathGorthi on Apr 06, 2007 11:40 AM  Permalink

Forget all that may be it is a conspiracy by Aussies. During last world cup India was at the brisk of getting the cup and Aussies who are known to plan much ahead sent Greg to disrupt Ganguly and other seniors and then we Indians instead of uniting against the adversities fighting amongst us.
One more point to ponder.
Did we ever fight for more just causes as we are doing for "Who is wrong at WC?" question.
Any way guys we Indians are strong and will bounce back and will learn our lessons.

captaincy race
by Suman Bhat on Apr 06, 2007 10:40 AM  Permalink

MUMBAI, April 5: The captaincy of the Indian cricket team may be a crown of thorns, but our cricketers covet it so much that they are prepared to go any length to %u2018grab' that honour. Believed to be the second-most important job in India after the Prime Minister's, an Indian captain has this onerous task of not only winning matches but also trying to please millions of opinionated fans.

As seven former captains will be present on Friday to advise BCCI on the road ahead, it might be a good idea to take a look at the captaincy conundrum in Indian cricket over the ages.

When Rahul Dravid was finally anointed as skipper on a full-time basis in October 2005, he had achieved another cherished goal.

So now we have a situation when two of his immediate predecessors are breathing down his neck. Sachin Tendulkar, who has already been captain twice and Sourav Ganguly, despite achieving so much success during his five-year tenure, want to lead the side again.

Our cricket administrators have passed around the Indian captaincy so often, at times simply as a sop, to so many players, that the post has lost much of its aura. However, it still commands enough power, paisa and prestige for people to desperately crave for it.

Like Tendulkar, Azharuddin, Kapil Dev, Gavaskar, S Venkataraghavan and Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi also enjoyed a second bite of the captaincy cherry.

Dravid is merely seeking to extend his captaincy career that so far resembles a horror show with a few comic interludes. Whether he brings down the curtains himself, or the BCCI forces a change of leaders, remains to be seen. If the vote is for a change, expect Sachin and Sourav to lobby hard for another shot at glory with the latter holding a slight edge.

The war was lost before India began WC battle
There you have it then: coach and players on different pitches, an overloaded captain, seniors pulling in different directions. No wonder then, that all it took finally for the world%u2019s richest cricket team to come crashing down was one gentle push %u2014 from Bangladesh.

Cricket and Politics
by Suresh Menon on Apr 06, 2007 10:34 AM  Permalink

Politics, regionalism, favouritism - All the make Indian cricket fit enough to be ignored these days. I say what the hell is there to run inquiries about? We've lost a couple of matches, so be it! Is it not sportsmanly to come back strongly in the next series?

Instead we see mudslinging, trading of charges, blame games and what not? It's a pity the sporting aspirations of the 'blue billion (?)' are held for ransom by a bunch of politicians and sports(show)men.

It's time we made sporting activities compulsory in schools and encourage and develop talent in other innumerable sporting activities. Kids should be actively encouraged to pursue the sport of their interest and not blindly worship these so-called sportsmen.

BCCI SHOULD CEASE TO EXIST
by Nirman on Apr 06, 2007 09:40 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

What is BCCI's Role in developing cricket in India except Dalimiya's phase. Even he failed to give fast pitches. India requires fast and grassy pitches which this idiots have never given. Is it such a difficult task???
Then the entire country cribs that indians do not perform when they go out of sub- continent.
How can you have a Formula Racing champion if we donot have infrastructure.
BCCI has been wasting time of entire nation by not addressing to such a simple issue.

What can coach do??? coach just have to see to it that while practising if some one is not doing right he has to correct it. here coach became such a important person just because he was white???? . BCCI should be Ashamed. They should have kicked him out as soon as they saw greg interfering. Instead they started giving foolish statements.
Rediff gives interview from more??? What is his contribution??? and how much does he understands cricket except politics. He got Ganguly removed for his own reasons and ego!!!
What is Pawar doing???/ He should be in Delhi and should do justice to the portfolio he has been given. Instead his ambition became to oust Dalmiya and BCCI head Seat.
Wasting time and money of country is the main job of BCCI

Perfect Article ...90% of the people who posted agreed.
by ravi on Apr 06, 2007 08:56 AM  Permalink

The matter of fact is that.. those people are real fools who still believe something is going to come up all of a sudden from inside of sachin, he is beyond his capability, see his idiotic performance in last 6 years....had it been australia they wud have kicked him out & made sure player like this peroformance will never be seen or talked...they didnt spare micheal bevan with hihest average who i stil lbelieve was a real real match winner in any situation nor steve waugh who had won a world cup.... played umpteen number of times in crunch situations..he won matches from nowhere and Our so called great player has records on his resume to show everyone but he has no great match winning innings probably countable on fingers out of all those 300 maches...the only one i remember of is the one with AUS in sharjha except that i dont believe he really played for winning matches but just in the process of making records of 100's and 10k runs it was a coincedence to win few matches ....but again if one keenly observes those matches which he helped in winning time and again he proved "SACHIN PLAYS WELL WHEN INDIA PLAYS WELL" ...One scenario was the match against Bermuda....he has never had that ability to take a match on his own shoulders till the end ..............now all of a sudden if he made a captain because off Sharad pawar / dilip vengsarkar/ mumbai domination then sachin if he is a real human he shud feel like its a spit on his face and shudnt accept it as he himself shud realise he doesnt even fit to be in the team.
whatever...i know nothing will change but people who still believe that some miracle will happen just giving hundreds of chances to sachin then you will cry and repent later on..i can write it...!!
