The Plain Blunt Truth
by James George on Apr 05, 2007 02:01 PM  Permalink

Well written Arvind. Its the plain bare facts but people are too sentimental and emotional and they just wont accept this or take it into their stride.
Its all going to end in some apologies being aired around and some shake-hands and hugs and thats it.
Nothing even happened, We lost the WorldCup 2007, so what there is 2011, else there is 2015 and it goes on. Its not going to improve, it never will. Thats how the system is and nothing can change it, neither you or me. We live with the system.
My only fear is its going to end up in the same state as Indian Hockey is in now. We have the so-called minnows in hockey ruling the sport and where is India, one-time world champions ???
God Bless India.

Cheers.

Sachin sucks
by Kuldip on Apr 05, 2007 02:00 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Realy in our country every is thinking that he higher than game/CRICKET. Because Sachin has prooved this and has tried to gain the sympathy of the fans. Chappel has gone, whether in wrong manner, Sachine may be honoured with Captaincy. Every body including BCCCI has gained either name or fame and excess wealth. But who is responsible for tears of milions of cricket fans who have prayed in temples acros the world for wc 2007. Whose accountability for destroying the emotions of milions of cricket fans. Is there any?

we don't need records...we need right attitude. Sachin hasn't got it. He's a selfish greedy dwarf.....who is trying desperately to be in the team to take care of his coomercial interests. He has insatiable greed for money as was exhibited when he was begging the govt. to let go octroi on the free ferrari !

sachin gave joy when his contributions mattered to the team......can't recall any such performance in recent past. selctions shud be based on the merit of performance & going by that simple & universal yardstick......sachin doesn't deserve a place in the team with his current form.

And don't u remeber the innings mentioned in the article...sachin was selfishness exemplified. He wanted to avoid octroi on the free ferrari...he was greed exemplified. And with the number of times he is getting his stumps broken....he's a lame duck personified !

When will Indians ever grow up !!
by Rahul on Apr 05, 2007 01:58 PM  Permalink

Pawar and his bunch of cronies will destroy cricket in India and very soon we will be playing qualifiers for major tournaments. The Indaian people should take up some other sport. We are past our glory in cricket, similar to what happened with Hockey.Pawar will now do for Sachin what Dalmiya did for Saurav. Anyway as Pawar said later it is only a game :) We will always remain a land of mediocre people idolising our heroes and being proud of our cricketers. There are many other things to worry about in India.

Arvind Lavakare
by ShreeRam Prakya on Apr 05, 2007 01:57 PM  Permalink

Arvind Lavakare is very right. Nothing will happen to so called senior players, they remain in the team irrespective of their performances. Only Dravid will be made a scapegoat for all his selfless efforts and being straight.

Ganguly and Sachin have attained capacity to turn as politicians under the auspicious hands of Sarad Pawar.

How true
by Ankur Khanna on Apr 05, 2007 01:57 PM  Permalink

Yes, this seems to be the most likely conclusion.

At this stage, I feel sorry for Rahul Dravid. Maybe some juniors will get a beating, and the show will carry on.

The nation's pride can go to hell.

attitude
by Raju Sai on Apr 05, 2007 01:56 PM  Permalink

It its attitude problem in the team which means one is not ready to listen or take things which coach advises. Then it has to be seiously dealt with. One must first learn to obey.BCCI please appoint a coach for attitude, well behaving, mannerism as well for our players.

Hello

Can you name others who gave pathetic perfomance in the team! Indeed Tendulkar is on TOP. It is true that We indians overreact and pass comments so early, but the way he bold out against srilanka raises several questions on his match winning ability now. If he made captain of India in place of Dravid. what is the critaria. Otherwise he became nonplaying captain as in Tennis Ha Ha Ha!

Bengal people support Ganguly even he failed miserably in this world cup. He and his supporters misunderstood that the world cup is of limited overs not that of test. They are supporters of the person, Ganguly (Bengali) and not of cricket(India).

he is not criticising, he is telling the facts...y don't u call kapil to play the matches coz he has won world cup...this way team can't win and hence the result. chappel was trying to make him flexible, and play for the country, play good cricket and not only an opener so that once in a while, sachin to score 100 to fix his position n pile-up his records. he wanted him to feel like any other good cricketer, who can play cricket and win matches. he just wanted to make him a versatile, which he is indeed capable of.

Sachin's Attitude
by G on Apr 05, 2007 01:56 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I am a strong criticizer of Sachin Tendulkar about his recent batting form, but never questioned about his committment, his attitude and dedication towards cricket while he is playing. You cannot question guys like Sachin and Dravid for their committment on field. That 194* incident against Pakistan, Dravid (Ganguly?) could have continued the innings for 2-3 overs. I am not saying Sachin never plays for personal records also. But I am saying that whenever he is on field he tries to give 100% to the team.
Note: I have never liked to call Sachin Tendular as best batsman. I have always said that he is one of best cricketers with his batting, bowling fielding abilities and more over that his sincerity on field. Off fields (about his advertisements) i don't want to comment.

it's bygone but if sachin was allowed to continue in that innings...and if he went on to complete his 200 then if dravid had announced his declaration the media and his so-called fans would still fume saying Dravid should have waited till he completes 250...all crap..that was the best in the situation and we won that match...if India lost a volcano would have erupted..luckily Dravid escaped..
