Breaking News.. Kapil over Gavasker
by ss ss on Apr 05, 2007 02:42 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Former India captain Kapil Dev has urged Sunil Gavaskar to take over as national coach following Australian Greg Chappell's resignation on Wednesday.

"Sunil is the best person," 1983 World Cup-winning captain Kapil told Headlines Today television news channel on Wednesday.

"When I played, I used to take his advice a lot of times. I personally feel people like him should come forward and say, 'ok, now, this is the time, we will take responsibility, we can't grow worse than this'," he said.

The Indian board meet later this week to analyse the World Cup debacle.

The team, touted as favourites at home, exited in the first round in the Caribbean two weeks ago after losing to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in the group phase.

Kapil, who coached India between October 1999 and August 2000, said India should not look for a foreign coach this time

Now Dravid should resign taking the blame that he could not lead the team properly in the World
cup and last 2 years.

He also joined for lot of nonsense experiments with Chappell and Kiron More.

JUST HAVE A LOOK!
by Reform India on Apr 05, 2007 02:15 AM  Permalink

India failed to qualify for the Super 8s after losing to Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in the group stage.

Chappell, whose contract expired at the end of May, said he was quitting for "family and personal reasons".

"I look forward to continuing my contact with India in the coming years and I wish Indian cricket much joy and success in the future," said Chappell.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not made any official announcement on the news, but it is holding a meeting on Friday and Saturday to review the World Cup campaign and still expects Chappell to attend.

Chappell came in for major criticism following India's World Cup exit but was keen to end his reign on a positive note.

606: DEBATE
Your thoughts on Chappell's resignation

"I am grateful to the players with whom I have worked for the challenges that they presented me with and which I tried to meet in a professional, methodical and interesting way in the interests of the team and the individual," he said.

"I would like to make special mention of my support staff without whom I would not have survived the rigours of the past 22 months.

"Ian Frazer and Greg King deserve special mention for their efforts as do John Gloster, S Ramakrishnan and Ramesh Mane.

"I am particularly grateful for the wonderful support of my family, especially my wife Judy, who has enjoyed the experience as much as I."

Chappell, who captained Australia in 48 Tests, was appointed as India coach in May 2005.

He had some notable successes, including a record-breaking run which saw India win 17 one-day internationals while chasing.

But there was also controversy and he had a long-running dispute with Sourav Ganguly when he was axed as captain after four months of Chappell's reign

Indian cricket has tradition of history. Even sicne Gavasker was playing. He did too. Politics will never go but we need a person who can fight among them and lead the team as long as possible.

Hi friends,
It is high time now. We need Kapil Dev as our coach. He was an al rounder and had played very well in his tenure and not for himself. He can act as a bating as well as bowling coach. Your right comments please.

Kapil Dev is a bad idea..I would go with Dav or Viv Richards..Having an indian coach creates one problem.They maybe the best in the world and all but there is a still a difference in state, religion and all..Ppl who can manage the team that is man management skills is important

A coach is one who understands players and makes use of thier skills, rather than impose new/unuachievable targets or self proclaimed forumlea,how to use attitude of players to get results, and gave players space to breath.
Coach is a mentor.Jimmy would be a choice.

Next Coach
by Murali on Apr 05, 2007 01:44 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

ganguly ruined Indian team with his politics. he played in a pathetic way in the world cup. he wanted to take his revenge against chappell, which he has now successfully managed with the coach's resignation. Ganguly is responsible for creating divisions in the team.

tht bong has forgotten how sachin n dravid helped the team captained by him win many many matches. and whn he had to make a contribution as a player for his team n the captain, he purposefully played poorly sinking the Indian ship.

chappell had some good and bad experiences as the coach of the Indian team as far as the team's performance is concerned.

good = 17 wins in a row.
bad= ganguly
ugly= ganguly
ugliest experience = ganguly.

I would suggest buchanan or steve waugh to be appointed as the next coach, prefer waugh though. waugh was known for his mental toughness n never say die attitude. Indian cricketers desperately need a coach who can feed them some steel. waugh is the guy.

whomsoever be the next coach, one thing is certain, GANGULY's days are numbered. he will have to pay for his sins. if he continues with his politics then he surely is goonna be kicked out.

Murli, plese do not blame any body, think what chappel did last two year, even last of day in world cup.
Do u think, under him... any body has any fixed and secure placed in team ... no why????. Because he want broke our unity... u body always support that .. i hate ur thinking .... u people always telling, india reached in final but did not win ... but what do u like best ... 2nd position in class or last postion... chappel gives us last postion where ganguli placed are in 2 postion ... please tell truth ... don not biased ...

I think, we want a aggressive cap ... wining is to be goal without think on past ... join hand to hand ... make ganguli 1 year cap with Yubi as vice (who will be next cap). Dravid, ganguli, sachin will play game on that one year as shfiting player with few good young star... and so that young will adopt day by day... then Yubi will be future cap ... actualy real truth was chappel wanted to be boss at start with the feeling that india players are always bad,,,,he forgot before india reached in final in WC2003 ... so we got result due creation of politics and dividation with our player .... i think u agree with our pt, no one can not tolerate if u do not respect our achivement in past ... chappel did not do that ... he neglected all of us... we people then also supportng him... hi what india... forget ab sachin comment or any body... u think as an indian ... Is chappel did right?........ i do not want to write more murli... best of luck

hello bro... to be honest i dont think greg did a great job. nowhere have i mentioned tht greg was a boon to Indian cricket. i wish the players had supported his vision. ganguly played pathetically in this world cup...why do u wanna continue with him

if u wanna make him captain thn how are u going to tolerate a batsman who plays painfully slow against even BERMUDA. how can u suggest him for captaincy whn his own place is not certain. another few such shamless knocks and he surely will be kicked out of the team.

i suggest the new captain should be someone who is certain for a place in the team.

Hello Anwoy, i wont call u mad cos u expressed ur views. if u dont agree with me thn u can let me know it without using such words.

and i wish ganguly played like sehwag.
my dear freind, just check the scorecards of the three matches India played at this world cup n u wud know how sehwag played.

sehwag failed in the first match but took two wickets. against bermuda he scored a century at an unbelievable strike rate and ganguly played like a senseless player in the one. he was damn slow against bermudans too.

in the final match against the lankans, i wud request u to check the scorecard again n again.. sehwag scored 48 in 46 balls...and ganguly made 7 runs in 23 balls.

Sehwag scored more runs than ganguly in lesser number of balls. sehwag took more wickets than ganguly...n certainly fielded better than the bong. and sehwag is not known for playin politics.

lemme know wht u hav to say abt this... n this time i wud b expecting a more polished reply with no abuses.
