Hi All,

Daily we are receiving countless mails, showing pictures of Indian cricketers as barber, milkman, coolie, cook, butcher etc etc. Just answer these questions before we go ahead of 2026

1. We go to temples, make lots of wishes to god, some of them come true, some done will you start burning effigies of gods and goddess.. If god can fall short of our expectations. they are just human beings!!!!!!!
2. India is still a developing nation; most of us come from average middle class families. Tell me if tomorrow..microsoft,google or sun comes to you and offer you ten times what infy is paying. What will u do????Every one of us is striving for more money..these cricketers are not the family members of TATA n Birlas like us they do ve every right to make money. They do so cuz they have the stuff. Like ur here in infy cuz ur gud enough for it.

3. India ranked no.6 prior to start of wc-2007!!!!!!!!!!if a no 6 team can so easily win the wc .guys n gals be ready all of u r going to onsite tomorrow..as a PM/GPM/SPM or who knows Nandan might nominate you as the next ceo of ITL tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4. How many among us are IITians or have come even from top 10 engg colleges of India(????)but be honest haan you must have taken all these exams n entrance..after class 12th but u didnt succeed!!!rite as simple as that!!accept ur failure!!!what ur parents did they started mourning over the dummies kept as your dead bodies..or they also burned your effigies..did ur mother stop giving you food or father stopped giving u pocket money!!!!haan..they backed you..always supported you paid heavy donations and fee to let you complete ur engg and beared all your other expenses till u got the right job!!!!!!these cricketers are our fellow Indians our very own blood they are going through a rough patch of time so instead of backing them up we are abusing them..

5. Your mom n dad calls u late in the night ur still at ur office..they say ..son ..go n have ur dinner..work hard..do your best.when u will get salary hikes..promotion..or remember your college days dad calls u..son why r u getting less marks in every subject YOUR REPLIES::::::::::Doh common dad,mom u dont understand..it really tough, only I can understand bla bla .guys.same is the agony of these cricketers no one can understand how it feels to be in the middle..n burdened with expectations of a billion ppl.shame on us we hardly live up to expectations of merely two persons(our parents!!!!)!!!!

6. We produce false certificates, claims to get posted at our desired locations..or if not we will run away to our hometown..on a leave saying C I am feeling homesick!! Remember Sachin -1999 his father died in India while he was in England he came n rushed back to support and play for his team n country!!!!!!how many of us can even think of this !!!

7. Lastly its the mistake made by ourselves that we dont consider a game..just as a game its we the ppl of India who made these cricketers dummy gods..simply fanatic..thank god fans in Zimbabwe,Canada and Netherlands are not like us or imagine what they would have done to their teams if expecting them to win world cup!!!Try to live up within the spirit of the game take a game like the way it should be.

8. Frnz this is a tough time for our cricketers and their families..stand beside em support them they badly need it..they are already upset dont add up to their agony n pain..

N lets get together n say HOO-HAA INDIA..PHIR CAAYEGA INDIA!!!!!!!!

Hi Prashantha,

Well said, I appreciate your statements, I am not Criticising but its all facts which you my friend need to know.....

1.Some 50 illiterate people burining the effigies here and there cant be generalised on the whole as Cricket Fans.

2.The Cricketers making money thing...be it let them make it no issues, but let them justify of what they are getting. by your own example plz tell me if a non-performing guy is paid in any organization, i bet after tolerating to a certain level he will be kicked out.If Not Microsoft/Google/ wont be where & what they are today.Does that happen in Cricket?

3.Agreed India was no.6 prior to WC and expecting them to win the Cup was just a hype. But Plz. tell me whether the ouster from the WC was graceful?

4.ok lets agree the fact that all Indians are not IITians but y did the IITians make it to IIT? Hard work, knowledge, being the best etc. - all factors combined in one, same way there r 1000s of guys capable to make it to the top in Cricket, do they get chances is a diff issue, but when u get chance u have to perform is the mantra, tell me what percentage of IITians fail in any job in any Organization same way what IIT stands as the cream of India in Engineering same way the Indian Cricket Team is the cream of cricket players in India.

5.If I am a regular Topper in my class and i get less marks in the exam then my parents have every right to question me, the answer will definitely be "i did my best", similarly i will make it sure that it doesnt happen again. When we compare to the Indian Cricket Team, Almost all the matches are similar either its closely won or completly lost and again and again and again.....Tell me is ther any improvement?? or U mean we have just an avg. bunch of cricketers in our country?? not many people would accept that.

6.I have great respect for Sachin, he Played for India for 17 years. He was a great player and the commitment in 1999 world cup was something extra-ordinary, We Salute him for that. but lately he is just a place holder in the team, its time when he realises that.

7.Its just a game, its only the media which creates the hype, u cant blame an avg cricket fan abt that, its the media creating the wrong hype.

8.Frnz this is a tough time for our cricketers and their families..stand beside em support them they badly need it..they are already upset dont add up to their agony n pain.. I would definitely agree with that not to hurt their family members or them in particular. Tell me if u r upset after under performing in a project which failed badly at a customer site denting the image of your company , what the reaction of ur project manager would be? will he give u a shoulder to cry on?

Its a system which needs to be revamped and it will not happen as long as we Indians tolerate and accept mistakes as misfortune or our incapability? Atleast we expect the word that "Indian Team will bounce back strongly" but frankly speaking that too doesnt seem to be happening going by the blame game.....

Jai Hind,

Proud to be an Indian.

Prasantha,

Nice way of putting things...ofcourse this is your way of dealing with the failure of the team and your way of rationalizing...i whole heartedly accept your thought process and also like to mention...People who have trashed Tendulkar as well over his "use-by" date...please remember...all of you were jubilant when he took out Shoiab Akhtar...loved his contests with McGrath,Wasim Akram....when the nation was on its knees he brought us to our feet....support him now...he is a class act...has been doing awesome service to Indian cricket...we will never get another tendulkar...relish him...do not abuse the man because he failed in a few matches...he is trying to...imagine being watched by over a billion people when you bat....will you score if you are given that much money ???? Intense pressure and money are 2 different things...you might ask if you cant handle it...get out..there are others who can...really?? who?? you?? your neighbour? let the man be !! and finally...a Salute to Greg...Thanks Mate..you tried your best...didnt work out..we'll survive...so will you.

Good comment Prashanth

Prashantha..you should understand that these people are earning money not like you and me..and above all they represent our country. and World Cup is like a milestone..and if they lose there..they should be penalised for that..there should be no excuses. Won't you not be fired from your company if you are lethargic and doing the same mistakes again and again..

i would like to also mention a comment made by ajay jadeja 3-4 days ago on a news channel that in '1992 world cup we got only 30000 rupees for the entire tounament even b4 that our players didn't got that much money , but we were including sachin were passionate abt the game not for money'. the only thing i thought for our failure is we cant handle the pressure well on the field and our players are not mentally tough enough.we shud resolve the problem of handling pressure on crunch situation at the earliest thats it.

Hi Prashantha,

Before i say anything, i congratulate Bangladesh and Ireland for playing some good cricket to chuck the good/overconfident teams out of this WC.

I have a few questions,
1. One person fails...OK, two fail... OK, 9 out of 11 fail is it OK ?? Are we saying we went into the world cup with out of form players ?

2. Its all about tracks, the tracks/pitches in the west indies are quite unpredictable. You have to get your eye in before calling the shots. Have a look at the way Mahela Jayawardhane is playing. Totally out of confidence, no big scores in the last "many" matches. But he got his eye in and called for the strokes.

3. Dravid as a captain... i always felt lacks the killer instinct. Lemme put it this way, if everybody starts liking his PM phir kaam to bus ho hee gayaa. So he should have led by example and at the same time stop being soft. Ganguly as a captain wins hands down as compared to Rahul Dravid. Show some aggression, show some spirit, tell the opposition,"Excuse me make way, i am here."

4. India ranked Number 6 : Imagine, if everybody thinks i am number 5 or number 6 and i cannot win the world cup it is a totally negative attitude. You have to yearn to be the best. As said in the Geeta, "Karma kar, phal kee chintaa naa kar". Yes, everybody did give IIT exams and everybody failed, but kudos to all those who gave the exam as they had "hope", the hope to succeed.

5.I have another question for you, Forget Sachin failing in this world cup. Please go and check the records for the last two years and you will see, Sachin's performance...Utter zero. I mean grow up mate, you are old enough to retire, just do it.

Finally, more than the cricketers i think the BCCI should be given the boot. I mean we have hard working guys like Kaif and Raina who are sitting on bench, very hard working, not as talented as big names but atleast have an attitude to work hard and the passion to succeed. Give them a chance boys...

Till what extent do you expect us to support Indian cricket??
Is a 6th ranked team not even supposed to be in the top eight ???

BTW, You are no different, Is Infy paying you to surf the net and pass comments? Is this the way offshore supports onsite, get down to some work rather than supporting guys like yourself.

yes ur right sir he should have resigned long back. Becasue we are not worth having such multi talanetd expert coach. We still want to carry on oldie horses like ganugaly. who fight thier place by not hitting centuries but by playing dirty ploitics, behind the close doors. Boss learn something from the australians and africans they are not busy in creating heroes but they are concentrating on winning mmatches. Thier logic is simple if you are performing you ar in the team if not please stay at home

Thanks for showing the true colours of our Indian team, The one we thought to be very sensible in Indian team that is Mr. Sachin by bursting against you he has shown the arrogance and brought disgrace to our country who have always welcomed Guests with open arms.
Come back Greg when all these old idiots will retire.
Thank you

Bad Taste

This letter has doses of SARCASM and it is very much in Bad Taste. After Sachin Tendulkar's emotional backlash. Mr. Greg Chappel had no choice but to quit rather been shown the door. Team India needs discipline but not in the form Mr. Chappel wanted to give it. No Coach has ever been this controversial and in the news so much.
