is their any other sport which can be picked up by media
by sanjay narotrra on Apr 03, 2007 09:05 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Cricket Cricket and Cricket!!!

Dont we have any other game from other 100sports which can be adopted by Mr. Chandra, as india have dismissal performances in all games team game to individual games.

We lost to china in hockey during asiad last year, we had not seen Gold medal in Olympics for last 30Years around.

If $1million is to be spend we should find out many persons who can be trained to give better results in 2008 beijing olympics.

Think about it Mr. Chandra and all india olympic association.

anyhow i will be in beijing to Cheer All indian sportperson for 2008 Olympics !! Hope our Flag can fly high with sweet sound of our national anthem one time their!!

I aggree with you.

Why can't Chandra support Football or Hockey, which are internationally much more powerful sports than cricket. It is clear midia gimmick an attempt to cash on the poor state of our Cricket team.

Chappell's Allegations!
by vishit kumar on Apr 03, 2007 09:03 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

So, we all must have heard about Mr.Greg Chappells allegations against senior members of the Indian team. It has been splashed on every news channel today and even on shows like the Sports Center on ESPN. One cant be definite in his or her views about something like this because what happens actually in the dressing room is known to a very few selected people. So, Mr.Chappells allegations that senior members of the team like Tendulkar, Zaheer, Ganguly and Yuvraj etc. have attitude problem can also be attributed to the fact that his own head is on the chopping block and that%u2019s why he is trying to save his own reputation. However, his allegation against Ganguly that he is not a team player but plays for personal milestones is interesting. I am a cricket buff (like many of my friends on this discussion board) and I have lots of memories of cricket matches (especially Indias) played in the past. One of the matches I would like all of you to recollect is from the 1999 World Cup (held in England). I think it was the opening match of the tournament and India was playing S.Africa. I dont remember who won the toss but India batted first and were comfortably placed at 190 odd for 3 wickets in 40 overs. Ganguly was batting at 90 something. However, instead of launching an all out attack in the last 10 overs, Ganguly batted cautiously to reach his 100 and that cost India a lot. Just 56 runs were scored in the last 10 overs and S.Africa won the game with only 2 overs to spare. Even Ganguly had got out immediately after scoring his 100. From that time I had serious doubts about this man,s commitment towards the team and after his performance in World Cup 2007, I am very sure that he plays for his own personal gains. There%u2019s definitely some truth in the coach%u2019s accusations.

why we start with considering existing cricketers?
by on Apr 03, 2007 09:00 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Why on the earth we are starting to think even in the planning stages to include India current team members at all? Why not target the large pool of youngesters and target a good team in few years - not in 1 year?

Remember we do not have any team game left where we can win a gold or silver - forget about Bronze - which we get in case some one misses the event or fails or tested for doping!

Think different guys! Go for young people! think long term!

There are a number of reasons

1. The existing players are known, and will provide the initial attraction
2. The younger players can pick up a lot from the older ones.

Excellent Idea
by Siva on Apr 03, 2007 09:00 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This is the most successful model to bring in talents to represent India. Tendulkar is not the only Indian who can play good cricket. The talent is abundant among 1 billion people let the money goes to everyone.

This is how, sports has been played in NBA, NFL in USA. More number of players also has the chance to earn more in this way and improve their own fitness (from the money they get), make their job more professional, etc.

I don't want Tendulkar's bank balance bulky and the rest of the local players being poorer.
But, BCCI with the power they got will try to KILL this plan. Companies like Reliance, TATA, Infosys should form their own team from the applicants who have shown promises in Ranji. From these teams you should select Indian cricket team. Also, the players don't need to worry about the regional bias going against them. Cricket should be played for fun from now on.

Just some thoughts:
How come NBA,NFL,NHL players perform below par as a group at the International Level?
Because they dont care.

Eventually players will make more money in leagues than playing for INDIA.

Trust me, this will start as a 20/20 evening hour games (after office hours) to generate interest amoung younger and older generations.

This is how it works in US to cash in the media, adverisements,Big TV,Beer, potato chips and ofcourse a LazyBoy Recl Couch.

End of the Day,Subhash Chandra makes billions, and no Quality INDIAN Team produced.

Try of HOCKEY sport
by ravi yemula on Apr 03, 2007 08:57 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dear Chandra ji

Appreciate your great work for Cricket

Please implement the same work in Hockey sports as Hockey is the national game of our country. Kindly encourage these players.

No one bother about Hockey sport, really it's shame to all of us. We were 8 times gold medals in olympics, now we stand on 12th position in last world cup.

I felt very bady Hockey players were traveling by train to play inter-state games.

I strongly request you to please do something to our national game HOCKEY.

Help BCCI
by smruti parida on Apr 03, 2007 08:44 PM  Permalink

Please Zee help bcci finding talents. Its a slap on the face of "big, rich" board. Go ahead.

India needs an intensive cricketing atmosphere, with full of promise and opportunity of budding talents, who r behind limelight. BCCI failed catastrophically in this area.

Besides, marriage of cricket and bussiness is a big deal man, go grab it. The idea is basically a big cricket club, like football in west....

May be a PPP (private private partnership) between Zee and Bcci will develop quality of indian cricket.

a new experiment...
by Golden on Apr 03, 2007 08:44 PM  Permalink

it is going to be something a real threat to the existing cricket structure for sure. any way i am not predicting any thing, i am just putting my analytical opinion.

i remember, in the similar fashion Karry Packer (a Channel 9 giant) had started bension hadges cup and started using coloured dresses which ICC opposed strongly but by the due course of time even ICC was forced to adopt it.
