First of all, it is pure business and Subhas Chandra is willing to take risk & cash in. I think it is a great idea to get foreign players involved . But nobody has talked about the basic/root problem i.e. dead Indian pitches. Unless our pitches are likes of what you have in Australia / South Africa / New Zealand England, we cannot develop genuine fast bowlers. Once our batsmen are groomed in these conditions, they are really ready for international games. Right now, they perform excellently in our conditions then they flop completely when they're exposed to fast and bouncy pitches. Look at Dhoni. I think he should join county cricket immediately so that day-in and day-out, he is exposed to those conditions.
On another note, I have seen people cribbing that money doesn't go towards other sports. It is not completely true. I think last year world cup hockey, they were offered 1 crore to each player if they won WC but unfortunately, it was one of the worst performances. Cricket has given hope to us that we can do it. Last WC, we reached finals. With the changes, we will again reach the top level. Cricket got the exposure after 83 WC. Sania Mirza, Leander Paes, Bhupati have given us hope in tennis so you can see money flowing for these players. I know it is catch 22 but other sports like football, B'ball, hockey has not given us hope like cricket has.
Sharad pawar heading cricket board-it is a sorry state of affairs! Whatelse then politics of manipulation would be expected from him and his board! All these board member look pathetic and I am sure instead of changing their ways they will be after professionals like Greg Chappell and Rahul! I am surprised that how a professional like Greg could take directions in game of cricket from people like Pawar, Nirenjan Shah etc etc!! Zee has at least style and work culture. The way they brought forward the singers and actors, is remarkable. Their project should be welcomed.

watch your words-esp when the head has been pocketed by the kyunki saas bhi type charade of funny cricket discusssions.Don't waste your time. You can do a lot more better than give your eyes, heart, and soul to this never ending drama.
It's great thinking but from day one it should be made clear to players selected that they are selected to play only and should not enter into advertising world.

Guys, wake up !! things to consider 1. These 14 India players are few among millions of players, selected to play for India. They have come through extremely competitive field (remember, almost every boy plays cricket in India). They are entitled to money they make. Imagine if you are among top 10 engineers in India, you would expect big bucks, won't you !!
2. If they are advertising, doesn't mean that is the cause for bad performance. Say Rahul is in 50 Ads .. it takes 50* 8 hr to shoot ads. 35 one day matches and 10 tests add up to 85 days. They still have atleast 230 days to practice !! I know it is not as straight calculation but gives general picture. Just because they show up on TV 50 times a day, doesn't mean they arr in ads all the time. There lots of other reasons why they are not performing.
So just don't blame everything on advertising !!! Gavaskar, Bedi etc were rarely in ads. They didn't win India many abroad matches, did they????
BCCI not only lacks in understanding its responsibilities but also morals and ethics.....else BCCI President would have resigned the day India was out of the World Cup.....but who cares....People want everything in their pockets.....Politics, presidentship and whatever coming on the way...........I pray that Indians grow up and forget Cricket the Game which is a BIG WASTE OF TIME and ENERGY....and embrace all the other sensible sports...to become a sporting nation.

have u watched any reality shows? if not ,henceforth ,know this to see Indian Cricket league to be one big reality show..(By the way it started from Lord sunil gavaskars time---zonal politics and match fixing)
It is pathetic to see a politician like Sharad Pawar heads Indian cricket board!!What else then dirty politics and manipulations one can expect in the organisation. I am surprised that professionals like Greg Chappell accept an assignment where they have to toe to the line of such politicians!! I am happy that other doors like Zee are opening for the players. At least they have a style and work culture.

maybe they should get the company listed. so at least the paying public invest in cricket and reap the profits too. i'd say kudos to chandra for even thinking of this. we've had enough drama from bcci and thier non-professional setup.
but lets not expect too much from mr. chandra. we'll wait and watch what he has on offer. one more thing is that bcci has deeper pockets, and years of links with all sorts of people (nudge/ wink), and so are very powerful people. this reminds me of kerry packer series.
Tomorrow's world power cann't see any sport beyond cricket. Either we embrace all sports and become a sporting nation or give up all pretentions of an aspiring world power. (Zee is after only money.... naturally).
