You have a very bad way of selecting who should be an administrator of cricket. By your criteria "Don Juan Antonio Samaranch" couldn't have been the president of IOC because he never competed in Olympics.

who is this joker! These rascals should be out from BCCI
by sudip majumder on Apr 05, 2007 03:08 AM  Permalink

these goons and mafias in the name of politicians are hovering around the BCCI (much like Dungarpur, Modi, Pawar, Niranjan of the wordl) becuse BCCI is least but profesionally managed and there are too much of honey here. look what these jokers made our sports arena; Kalamadi for his life is IOA president and see our performance of course that idiot gets nice free trips and other goodies thanks to Olympic committee - look at another joker called Dashmunshi - thanks to FIFA , he even becomes special guest and the quality of our footbal - better not said - much like our cricket! Tennis is the only one not having these third rate politicians and we are doig relatively better

Shame on our politicans
by on Apr 04, 2007 10:52 PM  Permalink

Its a real shame that our politicians are talking about the performance of our cricketers. They should look at their own performance as the task which has been given to them is much much more important than a game of cricket. (By the way if they don't know what is supposed to be their task, let me remind them: Try to work do something good for the country instead of themselves and their party only.) Cricket is not even a national game. Even when they are talking about the sports, they should try to improve our situation in games like Hockey, Football, Athletics, badminton, tennis where they have national teams (or individuals) representing the country and not a private club like BCCI. Not a single politician is bothered when we fail miserably in Hockey world cup or in Olympics. They only care about the vote bank and now Cricket is popular because of efforts of BCCI, they only talk about cricket. You don't hear governments of any developed countries wasting precious times when their sport teams don't do well, as they have more important things on their mind.

Shame on our politicians.

Resurredtion of Indian Cricket Team
by konanur s krishnamurthy on Apr 04, 2007 07:54 PM  Permalink

It is not right that the nation or any responsible agency cticises the team after its miserable failure in the world cup without BCCI getting the reports from Captain Rahul Dravid, the team manager and coach Chappel. Don't forge3t all our players are human beings. To err is human. BUt to forgive is devine. Let us hear them first. Then BCCI management must discuss coolly and take a rational decision. Future payments to cricketers must be performance and result oriented. There should be a cap on their acting as brand ambassadors. The common man pays for all the luxury payments to cricketers.

Who cares what some politician thinks ?
by on Apr 04, 2007 06:44 PM  Permalink

I fail to understand why Rediff and the Indian media in general continues to labor under the impression that any cricket lover cares two hoots about what some opportunistic politician thinks. It's no secret that money is the sole reason why all these politicians want to be involved in cricket. Genuine sport lovers ? try to revive hockey then. Soccer. Athletics. Come on Rediff. You can do better than this.

Reduce your own expectations
by ramprasad varma on Apr 04, 2007 05:49 PM  Permalink

Many people who comment here have no idea about the technicality of cricket and are too used to some players scoring 50's and 100's all the time which is not a problem but expecting that every time is. Some players were scoring all the time because they were great. Now they might not be scoring as much and they might not be as great but they are not useless. They might be of the same caliber as other normal cricketers you might find. Failure has been glorified since it was in the world cup. Experience of senior players cannot be replaced and thrown out. Why do you think B'desh hardly wins any matches against the super 8? Leave the odd win. That is because they lack senior players to groom the youngsters.

Some thing is wrong after the new coach came in which needs to be addressed. Most of the senior players have at least 1 more year to go in my humble opinion.

Bottom line is reduce your own expectations.
