guru resigned
by vvv on Apr 04, 2007 06:10 PM  Permalink

Greg Chappell has resigned as the coach of the Indian cricket team following India's disappointing performance in the World Cup.

Chappell has sent his resignation by an email to the BCCI administrative head Ratnakar Shetty.

Chappell had reportedly questioned the attitude of senior players in the team earlier, which led to cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar coming out with emotional outbursts in the media.

Chappell's tenure as a coach was due to end this month after the end of the World Cup.

Chappel is responsible for this diasaster
by on Apr 04, 2007 03:49 PM  Permalink

Only chappel is responsible for this diasaster. because he is playing his role as a selecter not as a coach.

Agar chappel kah raha hai ki team ke senior players ke karan ye sab hua hai to ye baat galat hai.

Aur bah kahta ki naye players ko moka dena chahiye but main ye janana chahta hoon ki pathan to naya player hi tha. Aur acha bhi but chappel ne uska carrier bhi barbaad kar diya. Abhi pathan ki ye halat hai ki vo irregullar bowler se bhi jayada maar kha raha hai.

iske ke piche sirf chappel ka hi haath hai. Kyonki pathan ko batsman banane ki chaker mein aur usko top order pe bhej ke uski bowling tak kharab kar di hai.

I think

Abhi chappel ki chuti kar deni chahiye

Scapegoat
by Raj Aryan on Apr 04, 2007 03:12 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

A very good article. People instead of accepting that their stars did not perform upto their potentials are making scape goat out of Chappel. And Chappel being a Aussie will never go without giving a fight.
My question is if people does not follow what caoch is trying to teach.. then this what happens.
Chappel tried install discipline, fitness & team work in the team which was lacking all these.
I see lot of bongs hating Chappel b'coz of Ganguly episode.

Chappel is teaching to eat sh%t and how do u expect the team to learn it..... Team will respond properly if he is methodical. Look at the way John Wright did it... whole team used to listen to him.

people like u have a severe complex about bongs - perhaps saurav's aggressive success does not go down well with your likes .... just as much nehru could not stand Subhas Bose .

of course one cannot compare ganguly and Subhas bose in their relative greatness , but it is an appropriate analogy

however ganguly made one very big mistake in his life - he got chappel in , that ate into 9 months of his career. yet on his return , but for the WC he has performed remarkably....

chappel represents the typical MBA type of thinking - when highly paid MBA's usually join
any new job at a cushy post , all strategy they devise for their organization have a 2 year lead time for fructification - its convenient , since they do not have to perform on the short run , and by the time the fructification period arrives , they move on to fresh pastures.

chappel has tried the same stunt with india
and surely he will move on , now that he has been exposed.....

Chappels Appointment
by dhriti basumallik on Apr 04, 2007 02:26 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Ganguly was repeatedly advised again Chappels appointment by a lot of Australian players and even Steve Waugh. Before Chappel India was closing in on Australia as a leading team, now we are nowhere. Ganguly paid for his mistake. Is it not time we stop taking all the crap from a person who owes up no responsibility for his job. He now has blamed every player for this failure except himself. Atleast I would give credit to Dravid as he said "I take full responsibility for this debacle". And look at that Australian Clown all he does is pointing fingers. Lets kick that guy out of India.

Yes ,Go ahead and sack Chappel and make Sharad Pawar or Dalmiya as coach. No Indian has guts to coach A Bunch of Spoilt heads as Sehwag etc.The day we succeed in finding one person and if he is successful in SA AGAINST SA and against Australia in Australia, then you start pointing Fingers at any foriegn Coach India has got.

Mr Dubey,
If you are not abreast of current affairs or read every article in detail, please let me tell you that Sir Vivian Richards has already expressed interest to coach this Indian team. Therefore you must realise a real man still has got guts to be an Indian team's coach, it is only the cowards and sinnacles who resign and therefore Chapell did. Think twice before you say something....it is only because of people like you we are still "independent" slaves of foreign precipitation. You stupid man.
cheers,
Kk

No coach can help Indian cricket now until the mentality of the players and BCCI itself wont change. John Wright faced a lot of humiliating situations, but exited with grace. Sehwag slapped Right on his face when John asked him to concentrate more on his fitness and you are not playing well. Now Greg has shown his way for asking senior players to concentrate on the game rather than other issues. As long as indian cricketers come out of a situation where they thinks themselves as gods, no person even god cannot help them. But the unfortunate part now is nobody listens to the issues raised by Greg, they only listens to what sachin said. now this became a personality fight rather than issue based analysis and solutions to the probelms.

Even god cannot help this Indian Cricket team. Even Chappel sent a report in October 2006 rasing a lot of issues and warning BCCI about a major crisis in the World Cup if we dont take enough measures. BCCI didnt bother about that report at all. Now entire nation paid for the debacles we faced. We Indians always have an attitude problem when somebody say you r wrong and change the way you behave. We wanted to behave in the way we want and still wanted to be World Champions. thats not going to happen. See how Newzeland is playing, there is not even a STAR player in ther team, but they play as a team and work hard and succed. thats the attitude Indian should learn. We show doors to guys who wanted to change us. We do not want to change and blames others who tries to change us.

Evan richards will be shown the doors after 2 years if he accpets the coach job. Many r interested for Indian Coaching job because it involves a lot of money.

so why do we need a coach?
by Brahma_Prakash L on Apr 04, 2007 02:15 PM  Permalink

if we go by the article, what essentially this means is that a coach can play around with careers of players, country's pride and can still get away without being responsible. if players play well coaching is good, and if not - he coach isnt responsible.

why pay chappel so much? why not me? or X? Y? Z?

Better off -- ask the team that returned from world cup to start playing with the primary school teams in all over the country -- so as to get some taste of victory!!

mission destroy
by pravat parida on Apr 04, 2007 01:21 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Chappel had a mission to destroy indian cricket and he did it.
all r talking about young blood.did u see how many young players had given chances within this 3 years and none of them fit for international cricket.
now bcci should invest some mony for improving the standard of our cricket such as fitness of players ,pitches etc.

Even big players need do ' coaching'
by stalin on Apr 04, 2007 12:34 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I am hearing nowadays,'who can teach Sachin how to bat'
But our players do need advice from someone coach/former players on adjusting their playing styles,
minimizing the flaws in their batting/bowling/fielding ,or ,u can put it as 'chinks in their armour'
No player, even in international cricket is
technically perfect.e.gSome prolific scorers are very much susceptible against left arm pacers ,some struggle against short pitched stuff ,some against leg spin and so on
In recent times, even Sachin has got bowled out in a similar fashion like in the SL game
This is a very good article that goes
into the 'cricket' aspect of cricket

a player played for 17years why can't he play well at this WC...

does his injury cause; if he can sit inside his house and watch other play.

without him indian team can win matches and cups. if we have faith in good young talent
